While we are not new to the city of madison, and it's many lodging offerrings, this was the first time staying at The Buckingham Inn, and it will not be the last! Great location, very close to great restaurants, UW-Madison Campus and Camp Randall, the lakes and State Street. We had the University Suite, beautifully decorated and spacious. Really comfortable bed! The owners have thought of everything, local wines and fresh baked cookies at check in, stocked mini fridge,in room snacks, including local chocolates, a nice list of their local favorites for dining and nearby activities , well appointed bathroom amenities, even ear plugs in the nightstand! And...the breakfast served in the dining room was divine. We will return!

We just returned from a wonderful two night stay at the Buckingham Inn. The entire inn is beautifully decorated, warm and inviting. We stayed in the Varsity room that was large, spotless and provided all the amenities needed with little extras included as well. We especially enjoyed the fireplace and sunroom which was the perfect spot to linger over morning coffee or a late afternoon cocktail. Heidi and Tom are attentive hosts who made us feel welcome but they respect your privacy as well. We enjoyed a delicious and filling breakfast each morning. Little things including plenty of available ice, mini fridge, snacks, robes, toiletry basket for forgotten items and ease of communication show their attention to detail. The inn is in a great location to explore all Madison and the surrounding area has to offer and was a nice home base at the end of each day. Heidi and Tom have created a fabulous bed and breakfast and it is clear they enjoy welcoming and hosting their guests.

I stayed in the Lake Mendota suite for two nights. The room had plenty of windows for natural light to come in. The bed was comfortable, the inn and neighborhood very quiet and my sleep was deeply restful. The map of Lake Mendota, the wooden sailboat on the shelf were details that invited my thoughts to those of water...both mornings I enjoyed the energizing, deep jet bath tub with bath salts provided, a lovely touch. There were snacks in the room-pretzels, gluten-free treat bar, chocolates provided and replenished each day.

The innkeepers were welcoming, flexible and comfortable in their roles as innkeepers. They accommodated my request of an earlier breakfast time and my vegetarian diet. They provided beautiful, healthy and appropriately portioned hot breakfasts that were quite tasty.

The innkeepers pay keen attention to detail, and offer wine or juice in the evening and coffee or tea in the early morning. They have a lovely antique piano that is available for guests to play. There is easy offstreet parking on site. The innkeepers have created a book with colored photos and brief instructions for use of systems in the room as well as a list of recommended restaurants nearby.

The innkeepers live onsite and are also quickly available by phone.

I enjoyed a simply lovely stay here and would recommend.

My sister and I were in Madison for the EPIC UGM conference. We needed a place within a reasonable distance to Verona, provided space and was comfortable after a long day of classes and walking. We found this at The Buckingham Inn. It is warm, clean (meticulous attention to detail in friendly way), and surprising. We stayed in the Varsity Suite with the sunroom and AMAZING bathroom! Every thought into making our stay pleasant was apparent through the bound book that fully explained how to use the rooms, air-jet tub, TV, fireplace, etc. This is the first time we saw this and love the idea. Very classy verses the laminated sheet. The remotes for all devices were clearly marked and between this and the book it minimized the questions tremendously. Breakfast was a healthy delight and we bypassed Epic's each morning to enjoy it. This is saying a lot since Epic has a full culinary staff that is excellent. I think what touched me the most is how Tom and Heidi stay true to their core values of making it feel like home and their commitment to the community. All snacks, wine, soap, etc. came from local merchants. Or, at least the ones we noticed. Cozy, warm, welcoming, and thoughtful are the words that explain The Buckingham Inn. Thank you Heidi and Tom for this great experience.

Booked the varsity suite for our anniversary. The bathroom was the highlight of the room; it was HUGE and complete with a beautiful tile floor, modern whirlpool tub and relaxing shower. We should have known based on the suite name that the room would have a Badgers theme, but didn't realize it ahead of time -- we had an unexpectedly good time looking at the old UW yearbooks and seeing how much times have changed on campus. The hosts were very accommodating and attentive without being overly present, which was perfect for the occasion.

It's great, Tim, that you enjoyed the Varsity Suite with it's spa bathroom and UW accessories as you celebrated your special occasion! Yes, our rooms are designed to capture historic facets of Madison: either the lakes, university, or Badger athletics. We're pleased you found our service to be accommodating but not obtrusive. We strive for that! Thanks for the review, and congratulations on your anniversary! We wish you many more happy years together.

My wife and booked one night based on other reviews and the inn's proximity to Madison's bike path network. The caretakers take COVID 19 seriously and have taken all the precautions to keep guest safe. It's great location just up the street from Camp Randall and Madison's Southwest Commuter Bike Path, which links to other area bike paths. Our room was clean, quite and well appointed. Our breakfast was very good and served at the time we requested. We will definitely book here again.

My husband and I were VERY impressed! This was our first time away with no kids for almost 3 years. We wanted something homey, comfortable, and relaxing. This place was exactly it! The breakfast was also very very good! We will definitely be back! The Mendota suite is the room we had and we felt that the space was just what we needed.

Wonderful hosts, we loved the cornmeal pancakes for breakfast. The surrounding neighborhood was also lovely and perfect for a morning walk after eating. The accommodations were quiet, easy to access/check-in, clean, and very cozy. A home away from home. We also wanted to note how much we loved the bed/mattress, we slept very soundly. Additionally, when my partner and I got back from a late night music event in downtown Madison, there was hot water ready in a thermos for a before-bed herbal tea. Very thoughtful experience all around and we will be booking with Buckingham again.

We stayed 4 days with Tom and Heidi. They are right next to Camp Randall Stadium. What great accommodations. The room large and ever so clean , the bed comfortable, the breakfasts gourmet each day. We enjoyed the complimentary snacks, water, chocolate and small bottles of wine. Couldn’t have been better. We’ll return.
