The location is excellent for the bus station - it's literally 2 blocks away - but it's not really near much else. The beach and restaurants are within 10 minutes walking.
The big thing to note is that you can get hotel rooms at other places in this area - and much closer to the beach - for less. We paid 300k dong (14 usd) for a double room but saw signs outside several other places with rooms starting at 150k. The highest rates we saw posted were 250k.
The thing you pay for at Hai Huong is being able to book online in advance. And being guaranteed an English speaker working at the front desk. Fair enough they charge extra for those conveniences.
But if you're adventurous, just show up in Quy Nhon and look around for a room when you arrive. You'll pay less for a better location.
It's a lovely city where they seem to love seeing foreign faces. Hang out down by the beach around 5 pm and you'll likely be approached by some university students who want to practice English.
Staff is friendly and trying their best but as this is not a major turist place, English was a little problem. Rooms were very spacious and clean, aircon was wroking, extra plus for working Wifi and cable TV with some English channels. No credit card was accepted as normal in these small hotels so take cash with you.
My room was ready on arrival and they even offered to come to pick me up from the bus station (ok, it's just cross the street but nice touch) so the service was good. I didn't eat here as there was real restaurants around so I can't say anything about that
The town was nice, off the beaten track so not too many turist in good and bad. Beach is nice and good place to hang for few days if you want to relax in some not so turistic town. And the seafood is definitely a must there.
Breakfast are had in the room when they do not have restaurant in the hotel. There are several good restaurants very close.
Quy Nhon is a spread out place as has been suggested. If you like a good walk, Quy Nhon is your place. The beach is clean and stretches for kilometres. There was almost no one there which is okay if that's your things. A bit lonely when traveling alone as I was.
This is a full of the friendliest Vietnamese I found anywhere. Everyone smiles and waves when you ride past. It's so beautiful and heartening.
There's plenty of seafood restaurants, not so much on the western front. Barbara's has moved location. Not as described in 2012 Lonely Planet. It’s opposite the beach about a 1 Km past the main roundabout heading South on the right. Good spot when you need a western food fix. Many travelers past through here.
The Hotel is simple, clean, and offers extremely good value. I paid $8USper night. Thats right. $8US.
Yes it's slightly out of the way somewhat, but hire a scooter, and who cares. The people are what make this place. I had a wonderful time with the family. Hau was great, Bjdao was a beautiful sole and Nancy.... well Sexy! Small joke between us
Would recommend staying here if you’re looking to plonk yourself here for a few days. Check out Bai Bao about 20km South. Beautiful beach. Great ride on a scooter. Little traffic.
The room was quite big but was let down by the ants and the mould on the wall. The bathroom was a typical wet room style but the nozzle can not be adjusted.
Ok for a couple of nights but not for an extended stay
Room was very big - we stayed in the double room with two doubles. Room was clean and had all we needed. The girl at reception was lovely too, although her English is not amazing, she does try hard to help and understand. Thank you!
I was moving from Au Co Hotel where I'd spent my first night but with no wi-fi & no cable TV I knew I could find better.
Anyhow I ended up at Ngoc Anh Hotel, 11 Tran Van On & for $9/ night got a nice, new, clean A/C room with a balcony with sea views. Decent hot shower & when I asked they put a fridge in my room. They didn't speak much English but were increadably helpful & accomodating.
It's probably not the best value in Quy Nhon - every turn you take is another glut of hotels but I'm delighted with my room & think it's increadably good value.
Down this lane (just off the main seafront drag) there's lots of hotels & guesthouses that I'm sure knock spots off the hotels recomended here or in Lonely Planet.
The family that runs the hotel was so helpful-we needed to have a checkup on the bike and a young man personally took my boyfriend over to the mechanic.
Excellent rooms, excellent staff, and a thoroughly enjoyable stay!
"3rd floor might be to hot. Also a lot of noise from roof in case of windy weather."Read full review
