Best Place in Arugam Bay! WILL BE BACK!!!
We had the most amazing time at Whisky Point Resort! It is truly an oasis of peace and relaxation; beauty and hospitality. Nicola and Anna were AMAZING hosts, and they catered to everything we could’ve needed and more. With their warm, welcoming kindness, they were already good friends by the time we left. We originally planned on staying 3 nights, but extended to more like a week!
Fresh, delicious foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner were available whenever we wanted (we could order at the bar or text in an order that could be delivered straight to our bungalow!) I couldn’t get enough of the tropical fruits and fresh-squeezed juices. The Italian dishes are also excellent.
The rooms were clean, airy, and perfect for falling asleep to the sound of waves. The shower was so nice, especially for cooking off during the hottest parts of the day. Another perk included an outdoor shower near the beach to rinse off after surfing! Foot-washing stations are located everywhere so you don’t have to worry about dragging sand into your room.
The atmosphere is SO pleasant, with a grove of coconut palm trees just between the bungalows and the beach, which provide shade and house smaller bungalows for reading/eating, as well as tons of hammocks! It also made the resort feel private from the beach, and like you were in some green, tropical palm grove!
The surf break was inviting for us, particularly because it has a sandy bottom, and you can paddle out to the left to avoid big waves (if you don’t want to catch them!) We also enjoyed swimming and body surfing.
We felt so safe at this resort, with people tending to the area and the hosts nearby, that we never closed the doors to our raised cabana. Nicola made sure we had connections to get surf boards (a great point break was only a stones throw away!) and he also helped us meet our tuk tuk driver who helped us get around during our stay. They also have the sweetest dogs ever who are so well trained and lovable.
We would definitely recommend staying here, and we plan on coming back!

Awesome tropical surf getaway!!!
Wow! What can I say!
Whisky Point Resort is amazing.
Located right at the Whisky Point surf break, I could basically ride a fun righthand point break-wave to the shore, jump off my board and I’m standing in my front yard…how could it get any better.
Then a quick wander through the tropical Coconut Trees swaying in the breeze and my Cabana was sitting there waiting for me. My room was one of the upstairs Cabana’s…beautifully designed large wooden bedroom, private but open to the daily cool breezes…with an ensuite attached.
And the view! Awesome! Looking straight back over the ocean I’d just been surfing.
Nicola the owner couldn't be more helpful, always friendly, full of advice on everything. He's done an awesome job creating this oasis on the Sri Lankan East Coast.
From the Cabana it was a quick stroll under the Coconut Trees pass some of the greenest grass I’ve seen in Sri Lanka to the Restaurant…serving up some super tasty meals, my favourite being the Pumpkin Ravioli.
Surfwise the break was perfect, plenty of fun for me to ride but also suitable for my wife…as there is a sheltered corner making it ideal for beginners.
There is also an awesome open-aired yoga studio, and we were able to arrange onsite massages as well.
The staff were friendly and helpful and made our stay a memorable one. This was everything we needed on our tropical surf filled getaway in Sri Lanka.
Thanks to the guys/girls for making us feel right at home at Whisky Point Resort.

Absolute paradise right on the beach
Had an amazing stay at whisky point resort! The cabanas are cleaned every day to a very high standard and I couldn’t have felt more at home there. Nicola is a great host who is always up for a chat and checking that you have everything you need (also cooking amazing authentic Italian cuisine). I would 100% recommend to stay here if you get a chance, just to be able to wake up, be out in the surf within a minute and then come in for a tasty breakfast.

A little piece of paradise
Such a wonderful stay!
We spent 3 nights here as part of our 3 week travelling around Sri Lanka. I booked on the basis of the wonderful reviews I had read and the place exceeded our expectations.

Nico and Anna are the most lovely hosts and go above and beyond to make your stay a memorable one.

We stayed in a cabana which was simple but beautiful and kept immaculately clean. Lovely touches such as the hammock on the front balcony.

The food was delicious as were the fruit juices and milkshakes.

The resort is around 10/15 minutes out of Arugam Bay and set on a beautiful clean beach which we practically had to ourselves on most days. The sunrises and sunsets were stunning.

I tried the swing yoga with Anna in the morning- such fun and sets you up for the day. She also organised a jeep trip to Elephant Rock to watch the sunset and it was a lovely opportunity to chat to some of the other guests.

Would definitely recommend this place if you want to feel totally relaxed and looked after. Definitely felt like a home from home and we would stay again should we ever revisit Sri Lanka.

Thank you Nico and Anna and all the luck for the future.

Beautiful beach side resort with friendly, chill vibes.
Ana and Nico made us feel very welcome and we spent most days chilling at Whisky Point in their shaded, breezy, beach-side spot. We enjoyed their authentic Italian menu, coffee and fresh juices. The beach at Whisky Point is pristine, peaceful and has great surf when in season. We felt very safe on our trip and our time was not affected by the current crisis in Sri Lanka. 100% recommend a visit to Whisky Point.

Secluded paradise!
If someone asked me what my paradise would look like I would just describe this place. It is the perfect place to collect yourself and rewind for a couple of days. Nikola (the manager) and Anna went out of their way to make our stay as close to perfect as possible. Despite the current situation in Sri Lanka (lack of fuel) they managed to arrange an airport pickup in Colombo and we got safely to the resort without too much hassel. They are both warm and genuine people who generate so much good energy that it is impossible not too fall in love with this place.

The place in itself is like a little oasis located on the beach. Our room was lovely and cozy, even though it didn't have AC the sea breeze along with the fan makes it cool and tempered at night. The food and drinks are simply amazing. Make sure you try some of their fresh smoothies while you are there, you won't regret it. If you like to surf you can just ask them to rent a board and you can take a 10 minute walk along the beach to Pottuvil Point. If there is a good swell this spot provides you with the longest waves in the area! All in all if your planning to go to Sri Lanka and more specifically the east coast I would highly recommend to stay at least a couple of days at Whisky Point Resort!

Perfect beach holidays.
Whisky Point Resort was a wonderful starting place for our holiday. It’s a short tuktuk ride outside of busy Arugam Bay in a green & safe surrounding directly by the beach.
Very comfortable beds, the sound of the ocean, direct surf access, great food at the restaurant and super helpful & friendly hosts made us extend our stay twice.
Will definitely come back.

Wonderful Idyll
By far the best place we’ve seen in the area of Arugam Bay in an idillic and peaceful surrounding. We loved the resort, its beautiful garden full off flowers and palm trees and little wooden houses. The owners very well take care of their guests, the place, and the nature around. Our apartment was on the second floor with a spacious wooden balcony where we could sit, read and enjoy the nature. The rooms are very clean and our bed was extremely cozy - we slept like baby’s in the fresh breeze coming from the ocean.

The whiskey resort quickly felt like family. Nikola and Anna are wonderful and most caring hosts, always there to help and to provide their guests with a good time. We loved spending time with them in the cafe / restaurant where we often chilled, drank coffee, played or just chatted. Btw, the coffee tastes really good! Given Nikola’s Italian roots, the menu in the restaurant offers a delightful blend of Italian food (the past is just perfectly aldente :)) They further inspired us to do some day trips together with them, going to the elephant rock and doing a safari which were both wonderful nature experiences. After our time at whiskey point resort, we went to the south but very quickly started to miss it — we did not find a comparable place shaped by such good vibes, nice people and beautiful unpolluted nature.

Something special
I stayed at Whisky point as a part of my level 1 hotel quarantine. And I couldn’t be happier! The location right on the beach with whiskey point surf break within strolling distance was a dream. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves in the beautiful cabanas is really something incredible for the soul! But what made my stay most memorable were the staff and owner! Food was fantastic and I just can’t thank Nichola and his partner Anna enough such a hospitable stay. Nichola true to his Italian spirit was so passionate about every thing he did. He truely went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. Even after my stay he was always there to help out with any questions on Sri Lanka and my travels. There is so much to love about Whisky point I can’t recommend it enough!

Incredible in every way
There is not a better place to get authentic Italian food in Sri Lanka. The owner is incredible and Italian, thus, holding his food to the authentic standards it truely deserves. Hitting the mark for perfection by every metric. The atmosphere is incredible, the lighting, the perfectly placed palm trees and surf lapping the beach. A patch of heaven in Sri Lanka! Myself and my fiance had and amazing lasagna, perfectly seasoned and rich, topping it all off with real parmesan cheese and bread with real olive oil. The large portions are plentiful and the whole experience is topped off with amazing service from the waiters. For desert I had a rich chocolate brownie and ice cream, my fiance had passionfruit and coconut panna cotta. Both of which were to die for and perfect for finishing of an incredible main course. To indulge in the only authentic Italian ingredients, cooking and atmosperic experience on the east coast whisky point resort is a must try. Thank-you for the incredible food and evening
