Had high tea at the Grand Hotel, takes you back to the old colonial times, you get a wide arrangement of sweet/salt biscuits. With unlimited tea, great service and friendly personel. 1000 rp per person, lot of foreigners but definitly a nice experience.

The uncanny impression is that this hotel landed directly from England on the mountains of Sri Lanka. Just as many buildings in Nuwara Eliya, the hotel is authentically colonial and staying here is a true experience. In the sizable building, all details imaginable are perfectly taken care of (garden, bar including snooker tables, flowers, fireplaces, piano player, the list can... More

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel as part of a tour of Sri Lanka, having stayed in 2 modern hotels it was nice to have a change of style as well as climate. The check in was very efficient and we were welcomed with a cup of tea and sweets in the large lounge complete which has an English... More

Not a bad hotel as such - stylish, good restaurants and nice gym. However - the corridors are very noisy and to top it up at 5am they start with elevator music in the lobby which wakes you up....not a good way to relax.

We did not stay at the hotel but went for High Tea. Maybe it was classy once - but not anymore. Too touristy. The waiter we had, had no class at all. He merely threw the tea in our cups and spilled all over with no apologies. We had hardly finished our tea before they came with the bill and... More

Nuwara Eliya is well worth a visit and a cool change fron the heat and humidity of the low lands. It has a lovely golf course and the farmers have to be some of the most productive in the world. The hotel is 135 years old and was once the residence of the British governor of Ceylon. Its certainly grand... More

Top class service and staff replying to your every need. Everything was of high class! But they could have been more welcoming and friendly. Easy to walk into town with historic buildings,- interesting post office and bank.

A very sweet English style hotel in the middle of the mountains . A comfortable place to cool down from the heat of the lowlands . Top class service and staff replying to your every need. We ate a delicious meal in Thai restaurant for dinner, they offered a large menu to choose from and the prices were very reasonable... More
