We would rate 3.8/5 and not 4/5. Reception with good tea (no dark dust) and ginger cookies. Beautiful big colonial bedroom, high sealing and hugh comfortable bed, great bathroom. In the morning I had a bit cold, there is heating to put on if you want. Stayed one night and did not dine here. Friendly cook, but breakfast is not great: eggs were partly raw, sausige funny taste, fruit not ripe. We asked the night before to get Sri Lanka breakfast, but at 7am not possible the manager said, this is no good service for a hotel. 5' walk to town. Only stay here to walk on Horton Plains or get in/out the train, there is realy nothing to do or see here.
Ferncliff!!! What is not to love about this beautiful & charming bungalow - loved the history of this home, the perfectly manicured garden & the cozy & comfortable rooms. All this topped off with some awesome Sri Lankan food to include ‘High Tea’ which was just absolutely scrumptious. Last but not least, the exceptional service, Bernard & the team were awesome & did not miss a beat taking care of us - thank you Bernard! A stay at Ferncliff will definitely be a ‘must’ next time we are in Sri Lanka.
this Hotel has only 6 rooms, every room is different. We were not able to open the door and then water was leaking in our bathroom so we got a Suite which was very large and comfortable with 2 doors to walk outside to the garden. The Staff was friendly and helpful and they put on the fire for us because it was cold in the evening. We also got a hot water bottle for the bed at night and this was really unique. The Food was not our Taste (salty fruit juice at the morning) but all other guests said they like it - so it was up to us :-) it was a journey back in the colonial style and for one night nice
A different experience. Nice and relaxing premises wonderful staff accommodating all our request including breakfast pack and coffee at 5 pm. The location has 6 rooms and an amaizing garden. It is well placed for a pit stop.
We stopped here for one night A blast from the past, super friendly staff, huge room, lovely gardens Ideally positioned to walk to Victoria gardens and town On the night we were there it was cold so the fires were lit and hot water bottles provided We had a very early start to get to Horton Plains so Bernard prepared us breakfast to go A great venue if you are exploring the area
