I can't remember ever hugging a host after staying in their guest house, but in spite of having spent only one day in the King Fern Bungalow, I just couldn't help. So much warmth we have received during our stay - it was just fabulous cooking with Chitra, playing our first games of Carrom and talking with Wasantha about his...

First, don't be confused - Wasantha owns King Fern BUNAGLOW and his brother owns King Fern COTTAGE. King Fern Bungalow is further up the hill and be sure to book directly with Wasantha rather than through and agent as it's cheaper and provides you with more options with what you want to do (website: http://en-gb.facebook.com/kingfernbungalow). Wasantha and his wife Chithra...

We found this amazing guest house purely by chance and we are so lucky that we did. Tucked away on the hill overlooking the main town, this lovely house is a home as well as a hotel, and if you are lucky enough to stay there, you will be treated as one of the family. The two owners, a married...

Stayed four days at KingFern Bungalows. The hosts were wonderful: extremely warm, helpful and keen for me to enjoy my stay. They went out of their way to make sure I was well taken care of - from providing copious cups of wonderful tea and arranging tours and taxis to checking whether I was OK via cellphone when I was...

Wasantha and his family provide you with the most homely experience you will get in Sri Lanka. From the moment you arrive, you instantly realise that the place and the people are very special. Nuwara Eliya was a fortunate and spontaneous detour for us, having decided whilst on the slow train from Ella that we weren't ready to get off by the time we reach Haputale. I cannot stress enough how enjoyable our stay at King Fern Bungalow was. The owners are among the friendliest people we met during our entire stay in Sri...

What a wonderful place to stay in Nuwara Eliya. The house was lovely, and the husband and wife who owned the guesthouse were just so welcoming and hospitable. Reasonably priced and very clean. It might have been slightly dearer than other guesthouses in Nuwara Eliya but most definitely worth the extra rupees. It gets pretty cold at night there but...

Wasantha and his wife Chithra simply made our stay at Nuwara Eliya. They were so happy, helpful, polite, courteous, enthusiastic and genuine. They worked tirelessly to make sure we were comfortable and happy. The food was fantasitc! So fresh and tasty. Make sure you eat in. The communal fireplace certainly warmed up what could have been a cold night up...

“just do not take the room next to the kitchen, all the other rooms have exceptional sights of the entire valley. Besides, all the rooms have their own bathroom (to my knowledge). Do not expect luxury, but a decent low budget accommodation with an exceptional service.”
