Cold, miserable room, no bed site lamps, poor shower. Why the hotel is charging guests to keep the room warm? The restaurant was also cold, the Sri Lankan dinner was reasnable but very basic breakfast. In colonial times the hotel was special but now is damp that needs plenty of improvement.

It's not a five for or three stat hotel but it's a fun classic old place to stay. Apparently it's an old English mansion. I think it's good value for money . We had a fire place in our large room . ( wood costs an extra 600 rupee though and lasts about an hour) didn't need the fire for... More

I agree with many of the previous reviews about this place, that is the management can let it down and also the decor is dated. The only accept CASH for payment and they also struggled to give me change when I payed in LKR, very suprising and dissappointing. Room was large and very clean. Bathroom was nice. This is a... Nuwara Eliya, is called the Little England, a hill country retreat where the British colonialists could immerse in their pastimes such as fox hunting, deer hunting, elephant hunting, polo, golf and cricket. Its name means "city on the plain (table land)" or "city of light". The city is overlooked by Pidurutalagala, also known as Mt. Pedro, the tallest mountain in... More

We stayed at the Grosvenor Hotel for one night on our way to Elle. It was selected by our driver as a budget guesthouse. Not sure of the cost because it was included in the package. The furniture was beautiful. We had read the reviews of the hotel which didn't give us much hope. You could get a heater and... More

Conveniently located off the main street, but manager and staff are utterly unprofessional. One can find manager smoking in the lobby with straight face as if he just does not care. They don't accept any cards, neither they inform guests about it before check in. Basically, avoid it!

We spent one night here and did not like this accommodation. It is very old, out dated and very musty smelling. There is no swimming pool either. The bedding was not clean, very grey and had stains on the,. Definitely this hotel needs a total make over, then it could be very charming.

The hotel is old and charming with the beautiful wooden details but rooms are very dark with paper thin walls and the bedroom door closed with gaps out to the hall. Could hear people in the rooms around us quite easily. Bedding was old and gray and the pillow smelled terribly of body odor. Cold shower and terrible internet service.... More

Our room was dark and musty smelling. The bed sheets did not appear to have been cleaned very well. Worst of all there was no hot water in the morning. We made the mistake of having dinner there. While the service was good the food was quite bland and boring. In fact it was the worst meal we had throughout... More

The place was polished and clean with an aroma in the room. However the hotel does not seem to be bothered about attention to details. 1. Our TV had no remote... did not get one even after requesting and the antenna wire was dangling... fixed it on my own but none of the chanells were clear (same in the other... More
