The Plantation hotel in Kitulgala boasts a glorious past as is amongst others shown by the presence of a ‘Rolls Royce museum’.However this past is long gone and what remains is a mediocre hotel. The rooms are clean but sober, e.g. a safe is missing, which is especially poor as many visitors will go rafting during their stay and thus... More

Having spent 2weeks in Sri Lanka this lunch stop was average at best. Quality average, some of buffet selections remained empty , soft drink selection limited. On top of this it was the most expensive lunch of the holiday. Riverside location only saving grace

If you're in for jungle and adventure, this is it! And if you're the typical traveller seeking the best accommodation and food, don't get your hopes up. The rooms are specious, a bit old and average however is great to ponder on the days activities. Food is good yet average, and they do have a bar. Now the good stuff,... More

Initial perceptions are important, and the staff, while polite didn’t seem friendly or particularly interested in their customers, in fact most of the time I felt I was an inconvenience. Our room #1 was showing signs of age and whilst clean and comfortable also appeared to be old and tired. The restaurant staff at lunchtime were quite ’pushy’, and then... More

Has potential to be very good but the dam being built which will shut the river in 2-3 years time gives the impression the owners have given up on the hotel. The rooms are nice but very dated. We stayed one night to go rafting. It is busy during the day as it is the end point for rafting but... More

We'd book a nearby hotel that we were not comfortable with. We walked to Plantation Hotel who luckily had deluxe rooms available. We checked in and were not disappointed with the standard of rooms. Great location on the river and has its own Rolls Royce Museum.

Firstly this review is for the restaurant since i didn't find any separate page for it . The location of the restaurant is fantastic - located just next to the river amidst trees , the setting becomes even more impressive when it rains . it feels one is sitting inside a forest and dining . Also there is a Rolls... More

The restaurant was very well located at the end of our river rafting path and it had an amazing view facing the river. Coming out hungry and tired from the river rafting we were made to wait 1hr just to get our plain cheese sandwich. They kept promising us the food will be ready in 5 minutes which dragged on...
