We had a perfect stay at Wayans homestay, where we truly felt at home. To summarize: - extremely interesting tour through the Rice fields near Wayans village - we were travelling with my father and our two children, and both Wayan and his wife Nyoman were very accomodating, being it on the tour or regarding the food - food was extremely good, and perfect for our children as well as for us, who like local specialities (see foto). They accommodate both tastes perfectly.

Wayan, his wife and all of his friends and family welcomed me and treated me like one of their own. The accommodation is simple and clean. I stayed in an air-conditioned room with a queen bed, and never had issues with mosquitos (a must for me!). The shared bathroom comes with a hot shower. Some highlights -- the rice field and jungle trek we did one day, learning how to make those beautiful Balinese offerings, getting dressed up in traditional Balinese outfit, every single meal Nyoman cooked up in the kitchen, Agus' company on my day tour to the Bali Art Festival and temples nearby, conversations with Wayan, Nyoman and Agus about their life in their village, the cremation ceremony I got to see first hand. Everything was exceptional! Wayan and his family taught me so much about Balinese culture, and knowledge of their land and jungles. This was an invaluable experience. Not only did I take so much knowledge and many unforgettable memories away, I feel great knowing that Wayan will use the money he makes from the program to better the village community -- help the village kids with school supplies, help renovate old village buildings, etc. I am forever grateful for this experience! Thank you Wayan, Nyoman, and Agus!

Seeking to experience the real Bali in an engaging way, I stayed 3 nights with Wayan Suwendra’s Bali Homestay as a solo traveler. It was the perfect start to my Bali adventure. Wayan met me at my hotel in the airport and drove me to his home in the mountains where I stepped into a beautiful world of family, tradition, faith, community and nature’s beauty. This experience was unique, customized and my host family was genuinely committed to sharing their culture, way of life and country with me. Wayan’s house is open air and immaculate. My bedroom was air conditioned, private, was lockable and my bathroom with shower and Western toilet was just steps away on a well lit path. I didn’t have any issues with mosquitos and there were fresh mosquitos coils in my room and in my bathroom. Meals were stunning, varied, delicious and prepared with my diet requirements (mostly Vegetarian). Bottled water provided. Trekking though the rice fields, visiting the night market, tasting some amazing street food and visiting local sights were terrific, but the best part was spending time at the focal center of Wayan’s home - the family Rice House containing the family dining table. It was my favorite place to absorb stories and knowledge about the Balinese way from Wayan and his family. When it was time to depart, Wayan drove me to my next Bali destination. The perspective and experience of the Bali Homestay was invaluable as I continued to explore other parts of the island on my own and connect with locals and visitors. I highly recommend the Bali Homestay Program where many beautiful and happy memories were created.

My daughter and I spent 5 days with Wayan and his homestay program. He invited us into his home and treated us life family. His wife Nyoman, delighted us with homemade Balinese food. So delicious! Wayan went over the top to immerse us in the Bali way of life. We visited his backyard rice field, 2 temples, the worlds largest rice field and took a ferry over to the island of Java. We climbed Mt. Injan to see the sunrise, went 4 x 4ing in the jungle, saw a sea turtle lay her eggs and we released hatchlings the next day on the beach! Thank you, Wayan for helping to make our trip even more special.

Wayan and Nyoman welcomed us into their family and gave us a peek into the "real" Bali. We arrived in the evening after an easy airport pick-up. Nyoman had dinner waiting for us. It was so special for our family to come together for meals in the rice house. The food was absolutely amazing! The highlight of our entire trip to Bali happened on our second day. We had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend a cremation ceremony. One of the villagers passed away and we were invited to participate. Nyoman and Sriya (spelling?) dressed us properly and we joined in the procession to the field where the cremation took place. As a Westerner I felt like we were intruding but the Balinese people welcomed us and made us feel completely at ease about being there for this special event. This was definitely a bucket-list item for me. We enjoyed walking out into the rice fields for sunrises and sunsets and getting some excellent photo tips from Wayan (he's a great photographer). We loved learning to make offerings and getting dressed in Balinese wedding costumes after dinner one evening. I really appreciate the little things like being able to tweek the day tour plans to suit our interests. I also appreciate the care the family took to give us the perfect amount of "down" time so that we didn't feel like we were invading each others space. The beds were comfortable, the shower was hot, the wifi worked great and the air-conditioning was fantastic after a day in the heat and humidity. We booked this program expecting a hotel/tour experience and ended up making friends for life. Had we just gone to Bali and stayed at a beach resort or Ubud it might have been our last trip (20 hours by plane is a long trip). But after this experience, we know we'll return!
