Welcome to Darmada. Situated on the ridge of the river Unda, in Sidemen Valley. Darmada was created to preserve nature and a holy spring. Darmada is an unique Eco resort offering 7 bungalows on one and half hectare of gorgeous, natural land. We have a spring fed swimming pool and an open air dinning space with spectacular views of the river and mountains. The design of the rooms brings together, old Dutch and Balinese elements. Each room has either a king size or 2 single beds with mosquito nets. The bathroom is half open and has a hot water shower. All rooms have gorgeous handmade cement tiles.Relax and enjoy the stunning views from both the front and the back terrace. Warung Melita is our outdoor dining area. We serve local and some western food with a local touch. Here you can enjoy your breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a snack with the sound and views of the river Unda. It is also possible to order take away lunches or snacks. Come in for a cup of coffee or tea with a muffin or some Balinese offering cakes. Let us make you a picnic basket and be surprised. We buy our organcic ingredients locally. We use local grown coffee, cocoa, pineapple, vanilla, eggs, coconuts, vegetables and meat. We have also started our own organic garden and will serve this, when available. There is also free natural spring water available for refilling your drinking bottle.

Darmada is a hidden eco-conscious resort that is designed to be part of the surrounding landscape and community. Nestled on the side of the river and tucked under the mountains, the resort sits on a large plot of land managed through permaculture principles and based on the Balinese ideals of Tri Hita Kirana. Based on these principles, the owner has limited the number of buildings so it really feels as though you are surrounded by space and privacy. Walking the grounds you can check out the various crops and plants cultivated on the land, which are used in the home-cooked food at the open air dining/kitchen area. Or wile away an afternoon by the river and enjoy meeting some folks from the surrounding village. And enjoy one of the most refreshing swims you can imagine in clear in the clear, cool spring water fed pool surrounded by trees.

Our room was beautifully designed and comfortable, with a front porch area, large bed with mosquito net canopy, outdoor shower and a great back porch space with a hammock by the stream for more lounging and reading time! Internet is only available from the hotel in the common areas, but the Telkomsel signal is strong - would be a great place to work remotely or for writing retreat.

On a recent 2 week trip with friends to celebrate a 60 th birthday we had our last few days at this very relaxing resort. Rooms very private setting with creek running at front balcony where we could read in a hammock. Back balcony provided area to enjoy our morning tea/coffee tray with peaceful view to nature. Restaurant meals small selection but all western & Indonesian tried we could not complain about. Pool on site very peaceful place. Staff extremely welcoming & supportive, arranged massages of fantastic quality. Walk to Sideman central an interesting 40 min on incline & 20 min return trip. Unfortunately not enough time for trekking & rafting offered by resort but we will return with more time next time.

Dear guest, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and taking the time writing a review. We are glad to hear that your stay with us was a memorable one! What you are describing is exactly what we would like for our guest to experience here. You where our last guests here for?? we don't know how long. We are not operating anymore at this moment for safety reasons due to Corona. We will keep supporting all our staff as they are the reason that people feel extremely welcoming and they do walk that extra mile to arrange special wishes for our guests. We will need to maintain our gardens and everything else here, so that we will be ready to open our peaceful resort again as soon as possible. Especially now we look forward to welcoming you back to Darmada Eco Resort in the near future. Please spread the word as we will need it! Thank you very much and kind regards, Darmada Team

Darmada Eco Resort was the first stop on our recent trip to Indonesia. We arrived late at night after a prompt airport pick up, then (extremely sorry about not remembering names) the young guy literally ran up to reception to greet us with a warmth that belied how late it was!
Being so dark we could see next to nothing of the resort, but what we could see looked idyllic. Got to our rooms - adjoining detached rooms for us and our teenage daughter, and can't believe anyone would call them 'simple'??!! Ok, I'm not a luxury traveller but the main room was spacious, spotless and the outdoor bathrooms were just gorgeous! My partner was also surprised by the high standard as it was not (yet!) among the more expensive accommodation on our trip.
Waking up at Darmada Eco Resort on our first day was simply magical. Slap bang in nature, ricefields in front of our rooms, the noises and the smells! Every morning they bring a thermos of hot water, coffee, teas and sweeteners and leave it on your porch. A fabulous idea and we just loved being able to have coffee as early risers without any effort, kudos for this Darmada!
We explored the grounds, enjoyed amazing food in the restaurant (all meals fabulous and they were amazing with our daughter's coealiac disease) and were looked after amazingly by the young, professional and charming staff.
We had a tour of the local rice fields, which after experiencing the tourism in Ubud we appreciated even more. A great, relaxed but informative guide, we learnt a lot and enjoyed stunning views minus swings or zipwires. We also had an offerings class which was incredible, these offerings are a huge part of life on Bali and it was amazing to have some experience of that. They offer a lot of other classes/experiences that I am sure we will try in the future.
Can't fault it really, and send all staff our huge thanks for an amazing start to our holiday! You are amazing and we are very grateful to you.

Situated at the bottom of the valley in beautifully landscaped grounds with streams, little ponds and pathways crisscrossing the spacious grounds.

The ethos of the resort is eco which is an ethos we support in our own business.
However it was rather more rustic than we were anticipating for the price. The rooms do not have fridges, kettles or a/c and the lighting is extremely low. Wifi is available in the restaurant and lobby only and cell signal is poor.

For the bug allergic or phobic - all of the rooms are open air, with many openings, wooden slats over windows instead of glass for half the windows and decorative air bricks all the way around. The beds do have mosquito netting.

Most of the rooms are by a stream and at the moment the water running is quite loud, especially with the open concept rooms. Unfortunately we were woken by our neighbours late at night, even over the loud river.

As we travelled in the rainy season everything was damp, it was rather like sleeping under a wet towel at night.

In the Colonial rooms, your neighbours, if over 5’5” can easily see into your shower, the bamboo walls are very short for westerners 🤦

The owner and ladies who checked us in were super lovely and friendly.

The lady who dealt with our concerns was very apologetic that our room was all open and not described as such, and that our room listing should not have said we had an air conditioner. We were offered a complimentary hour massage each by way of apology which was appreciated.

It would be great if the listing was updated to reflect the rooms on offer. All of our party are westerners who live in Indonesia. All open accommodation is not the norm, even in Sideman ☺️

We would not stay again however can appreciate the appeal for those seeking a more basic, back to earth experience.

We were very disheartened to learn during our stay that Sideman has no garbage collection so the majority of garbage is dumped into the river. If you do visit Sideman maybe collect and take your trash with you.

What a gem of a place! A magical spot to drop into nature, do yoga, read, rest in a hammock on a porch by a flowing stream in the most gorgeous cottage. It was even more beautiful than I imagined. The staff were so kind, the landscape so lush, the food delicious, it was hard to do anything else but just be there. I can't wait to come back!

What a wonderful peaceful place, so serene and tranquil by the river and surrounded by very well looked after gardens.
The villa was a truely lovely surprise, set back by the trees. I loved the vibrant colours and outdoor bathroom. Very comfortable bed.
Pool areas naturally shaded and restaurant by the river was nice.
We had 2 nights and didn't leave the resort as had already explored Sidemen on our previous nights at a different hotel. This one's located a bit further down but if you want to just relax in serenity this is for you.
We also took advantage of the incredible yoga platform and did a morning class with views of Mount Agung, magical!

This hotel was our fifth stop during our tour organized by mybaliroadtrip.com. Different hotel but a very unique one. Spacious room, nice restaurant and a very relaxing surrounding. There is a stream of water running next to your terras.
Had a very good massage and a fantastic Cooking Class (Bali style food).
Again a great choice from mybaliroadtrip.com

I am exploring Bali with my daughter, ent to different places like Nusa Penida, Ubud, Ulowatu, but Sidemen really catched my heart. The resort is so peacefull, location at the river is perfect and rooms are pretty....Already first welcome made me feel like in paradise. Such a nice people, helfpul, always ready to help. Food is delicious and swimmng pool is really pretty.

For those who like privacy, quite area, authenticity, I can strongly recommend this resort, as well as the entire area. For me it was the most amazing part. The only mistake we made was not to stay longer....
