The Hanging Gardens of Bali is a luxurious destination in the heart of the jungle. It is situated near Payangan, a village North of Ubud, whilst the hotel rests in the centre of the magical island of Gods. The enchanting five star luxury resort has 44 private suites and individual villas, each enhanced by its own granite infinity pool, rippling into the jungle below. Each villa is designed with traditional Alang Alang thatched roofs in complete harmony with nature. In 2014, TripAdvisor and Conde Nast Traveller named our Twin-Tiered Cascading Pool as the World's Best Pool and number one honeymoon destination in Bali by Conde Nast Traveller. In 2015 Hanging Gardens of Bali has been awarded: World Luxury Hotels Awards, Seven Star Global Luxury Awards and World Travel Awards as well as other prestigious recognitions, such as the World Luxury Spa Awards and the World Luxury Restaurant Awards. The renowned Garden Restaurant serves innovative Indonesian dishes with Asian flare and Mediterranean delicacies flavoured with the local herbs and spices grown on the land and freshly-caught fish from the Jimbaran Bay. The truly luxurious Spa Collection combines natural, local ingredients and ancient techniques to create beauty therapies and treatments that soothe the mind, rejuvenate the body and energize the soul. Complimentary shuttles to Ubud center are scheduled daily for guests. The airport is around 90 minutes away by road depending on traffic.

We stayed here on Oct 28th for our last night in bali. The jungle view here is incomparable to any other resort that we stayed in, during our trip to Bali. There's a cable cart to get you around the resort. In addition, there is a temple right across the river where you they offer you sarongs if you wish to visit. Breakfast was included and you can order anything you'd like and as much as you like from their menu. They offer a complimentary shuttle to and from Puri Lukisan Museum located in central ubud that runs about 3-4 times a day, however unfortunately the last shuttle ends around 15:00 which we thought was really early compared to other hotels. There is complimentary high tea from 3-4pm located in their spa cafe. Their iconic pool was mesmerizing and we loved that we had it to ourselves until 12pm that day. The only downside is that it closes at 6pm every night. The hotel offers in house activities for guests that you have to pay. Other resorts that we stayed at offered the same activities but were complimentary.. Our private villa was clean with a heated pool. They greeted us with a flower bath, local sparkling wine, house made treats & handcrafted jewelry. The flower bath was a kind gesture however, I did find it awkward how the standing shower and tub was a combination of the two, considering the layout of the tub. The only complaint that I really had were the guests that stayed next door to us. It was 12am and they were playing loud music on their patio. Wehad asked reception to ask if they could turn it down as it was getting late. Even so, we still had to wear ear plugs to sleep. All in all, the view and pool is amazing but for what we paid for, I think you can find other amazing resorts for half the price.

Dear Thank you so much for your lovely review. Your description of our services, experiences and ambience are exact and a tribute to our wonderful local team. We really do appreciate your comments also regarding the shuttle service and the unfortunate episode with the loud music (we actually have amazing speakers in each villa which sometimes guests do get carried away with the sounds!) Regarding the pricing. We say our pricing is quality for price but your comments are well taken Thank you for being our guests In gratitude

Hanging Gardens Bali is really a magical place. From the moment we arrived the staff made our honeymoon really special (champagne and chocolate cake!). I recommend to stay here 1-2 nights before staying at other destinations in Ubud as it is 30 min drive from the city center. 2 nights allows you to fully enjoy the Hanging Gardens and the facilities. The breakfast buffet was excellent and served with such a beautiful view. The pools are very scenic and fun to relax next to for a day. The rooms are stunning and I highly recommend you get a pool suite. The service was great, and the spa offered one of the top 3 massages i've had in my life. Make sure you take the hike across the river and up to the temple , it was magical! Overall the staff ensured we had a great stay! Tip to the staff, change up your playlists and music in the restaurant and near the pool, same songs on repeat.

We booked one night at Hanging Gardens of Bali to end our trip on a high and we were far from disappointed. It truly is a beautiful place to stay in secluded jungles of Gianyar, about 30 minutes north of Ubud. We didn't want to leave and wished we could have afforded to stay more than one night! The only thing that left a bad taste in our mouth was the exorbitant price of a transfer from the hotel to the airport. It costs about IDR $702,000 which for us translated to a whopping $73 AUD (no idea why they promote it in USD when you're in Indonesia either btw). Earlier in the week, we paid a driver from Seminyak $50 AUD to be our driver for the *whole* day, spending around 6 hours driving to Ubud, around the island and back. The staff also say it's impossible to get an Uber/Taxi/Grab etc. from the hotel as it's not permitted in this area of Bali, so I suppose they have a monopoly on the market. You'd think when you're paying IDR $9,000,000+ a night a transfer could be complimentary at best. All in all, if you can afford to stay at Hanging Gardens, i'd definitely recommend it. The scenery, food, staff and service are all amazing and you won't regret it.

Dear alistairmerritt, Thank you so much for your review. We are over the moon that you enjoyed your stay with us so much. Regarding the transfer to the airport. Yes there is a monopoly in the area as transportation is run by the local village transportation company with whom we are obliged to work with. The official taxi companies cannot operate in the Ubud area. Independent "drivers" can charge much less but again we are obliged to use our local village company. I guess it is all a matter of comparison. Is $US50 a lot to pay for an up to two hour drive from the hotel to the airport? I know that in Australia you would pay much more than that to go from city center to airport and in Europe it would be even more. Once again many thanks for your lovely and constructive comments and we truly hope to see you back again at Hanging Gardens of Bali. In gratitude

This hotel is no where near a 7 star hotel as they claim on there instagram. I wouldn’t even give it a five star rating. Me and my partner was looking forward to ending our holiday in this so called amazing hotel. The only thing in this hotel that is Amazing is the pool. But I wouldn’t recommend anyone staying there just for this pool. There’s so many amazing pools in Bali! I did not received no where near a 7 star hotel rating , and I have stayed in many hotels all over the world. I would barely give this a 4 star. Here are some of my faults in the hotel. The room The hotel room was pretty basic for the price you pay, many of the facilities look old such as the bath , the floor was very dangerous getting in and out of the bath was an accident waiting to happen, my partner slipped causing her to hurt her toe , her toe nail actually came off, also a massive bruise on her shin. Over waxed floor boards in a bathroom is a good way to hurt your customers. Plus putting towels on top of the floor was like an ice rink. The service This hotel service is one of the worst services I have received at any hotel that I have stayed in. On the first night I stayed ,I received the turn down service, this was fine . on the second night I had to ring for the turn down service, and for my room to be cleaned, this should not be the case in a five star hotel . And also my room was not cleaned correctly the whole stay I was there . on the 3rd night ,this service was not received what so ever, this service was not even offered. My room was just left . The turn down service includes setting the mosquito nets, so this is a must in a hotel in the middle of the jungle. Also when checking out , I received my bill under my door, this stated this bill was up to date from 3pm that day, however the day before I updated my bill and paid it up to date as I wanted to be on top of my bill. the hotel tried to double charge me for a cab service I used, this being a 5 star hotel , this should never happen , such poor service!!! Double charging!! The food The breakfast was not a 5 star buffet as it claims . I would say it’s a 4 star hotel breakfast. I asked for watermelon juice one of the mornings and they said they do not have that today. You would think a hotel that is a five star hotel would cater for its guest at a much higher level. I had a evening meal in there restaurant, looking over the pool, The food was actually not bad at all , I enjoyed the meal but I still wouldn’t say it was a 5 star meal. there wasn’t very much of it. So I don’t think the price of the food could be justified. They also forgot half my order , I ordered ribs aswell as the selection of wagyu steak. I had to ask where my ribs where and by the time they came out .I had already finished the rest of my meal. Yet again bad service! Afternoon tea!! They claim you receive a afternoon tea!! This is false advertising, it’s actually disgusting what they give you. They give you one cup of tea or coffee and 4 very small items on a plate. I’m from London and in London afternoon tea is sandwich slices, scones with jam and cream ,and a small selection of cakes , all these items do not cost any money at all to put together. After you drink your tea and have your small snacks , the waiter comes over saying did you enjoy your afternoon tea , in other words , this is all you are getting and your afternoon tea is over now. This is actually quite embarrassing as my partner loves afternoon tea and this was one of the reasons why she wanted to go here. The over priced items I have no problem paying a premium on an item or service. That’s if I receive the service. The taxis in Bali are extremely cheap. I stayed in many hotels in Bali I was there for 25 nights. The only hotel that I stayed in that charged an extra premium on the taxis was this hotel. $16 a journey. That is London prices in Bali! I checked out at 4am as I had an early flight into London. I asked for my breakfast boxes so I could eat my breakfast on the journey to the airport. In one of the breakfast boxes there where ants inside the box , I understand there are many ants in Bali , but in a five star hotel this should not happen. Overall my experience of the hanging gardens of Bali , what not what I would call a ending to a dream holiday . My whole holiday was perfect expect this hotel , and it’s such a disappointment as me and my partner was both looking forward to ending our holiday here. And I don’t want anyone making the same mistake.

Dear Thetripmasterflex, We are extremely disappointed by your review. Our star rating has come after years of hard work and dedication by our team to exceeding our guest’s expectations as witnessed by the amount of fantastic reviews we receive on a daily basis. Our award-winning hotel has been rated by Conde Nast, Vogue Traveler, Boutique Hotel Awards, Trip Advisor Winner of Excellence and a host of other ratings and awards that would be too long to mention here. Our amazing villas, each with its own private infinity pool have been designed to be part of the exotic jungle surroundings. Far from basic and exotically luxurious with a view worth every penny spent. In fact our villas and architecture has been mentioned and received accolades from some of the worlds most prestigious architectural and hospitality publications Our in-villa service and fantastic housekeeping team receive nonstop accolades from all our guests The turn downs and daily cleaning is performed at the highest level and constantly inspected. We are justly proud of all our team who spare no effort to ensure our guest’s satisfaction. This includes knowing all of our guest’s names and their wants and needs. We receive nonstop accolades about our guest service and attention to all details. This begins at check in and throughout all the stay until check out. We make sure all our guest’s leave happy…this is our motto. Our breakfast is not a buffet and is never described as such. We offer a full comprehensive a la carte breakfast with each dish is cooked to order as per the guest request. Additional self-service cold items, house smoked fish, freshly baked breads, Danish, local sweets, fresh fruits, cereals etc. etc. etc. are all offered….this is an elegant and luxurious breakfast created for people who understand good food. All requests big and small are taken seriously and fulfilled. Our dinner menu is a gourmet delight in a wondrous setting. Our chefs use only the best produce and cooked perfectly…our cuisine is of the highest quality. Our complimentary afternoon tea served in a magical jungle setting is designed to be changed daily and includes 4-5 different freshly made items, all beautifully created. There is always refills of coffee or tea . Our wait staff are genuinely ask if everything is fine as all our staff are extremely polite and professional We also offer a full English Afternoon tea served on antique bone china (including scones and cream) although this is an item that is charged and not offered as a complimentary service Looking at your other reviews I would say that you have a very biased and negative attitude. Your review is vindictive to say the least and I do not think that this is the proper platform to basically insult and demean a hardworking and dedicated team of local employees who spend each and every day making sure our guests receive the highest possible level of service. Our management also takes every opportunity to ensure our guests satisfaction at every moment of their stay with us and we find no justification in your comments. Regards
