The Ayung Resort is a breathtaking, mystique and unique lifestyle hotel, perched high up on the bank of a mostly untouched tropical mountain rainforest gorge, in the traditional Balinese village of Payangan Ubud, surrounded by the gentle, spiritual tranquility and pace of Balinese life. Along this serene 8 hectares rain forest domain runs The Ayung, Bali’s most sacred mountain river. In the rocks of the hotels pathways and along it’s 600 meters long riverbank fronting the Ayung Resort, 250 of the finest Balinese Stone Carvers have painstakingly worked, for over a 2 year period,to carve the spectacular Hindu mythologies, Ramayana and Mahabharata amongst others. These stone carvings have become the most sought after photo opportunity of the hotel.

Beautiful resort. Fabulous attentive staff. I stayed with my daughter for 5 days and we loved it. We stayed in one of eight rooms overlooking a large infinity pool which felt like our private pool. We used the complimentary shuttle to take us into Ubud for dinner although also dinrd at the hotel which was fantastic food and great service. This really is a 5* resort.

We chose Ayung Resort because it looked like a beautiful Bali rainforest experience--and it most certainly was, from start to finish! We had arranged for Agyung's airport pickup, and that went smoothly. The friendly driver was willing to make stops along the way if we liked, but we opted to drive straight through (about 2.5 hours). The open-air lobby is a sight to see, covered in sculptures and statues. We were greeted with a welcome drink, and then learned we'd been upgraded--very nice! Our room details and hotel offerings were reviewed before the buggy (golf cart) took us to our room. And what a room! The large balcony, complete with table and chairs, overlooked the pool and the rainforest. Inside, there was a couch, chairs, dining table with chairs, a desk, and still plenty of room for luggage. There is a safe and an enormous bathroom with a separate tub. The free minibar is refilled once per day, and you can refill your water bottle at a separate location in the building. The wifi and A/C both worked well. Ayung's property is quite large and also hilly. Because of this, they have buggies (golf carts) that will take you wherever you need to go on the premises. All you have to do is call the front desk. This worked extremely well and we rarely waited more than a couple of minutes for the ride. Other offerings include a free shuttle to and from Ubud several times a day. We did take this in, but always took a cab back because we stayed later than the last shuttle (cab is about 150-200 IDR). There is free yoga each morning at 7:30 am, and a free afternoon tea at the restaurant. We really enjoyed the free rice paddy walking tour (not every day--check the schedule), even though the guide did not provide much information, just a route for us to follow him through the rice field. The infinity pool is lovely and very Instagram-worthy. The gift shop had an excellent collection of high-quality souvenirs. The dining at Ayung is fantastic. I can't say enough about the extensive and never-ending breakfast. You can order as much as you like from the menu, from fruit to pancakes to eggs to French toast. The location is serene and the view into the forest completely relaxing. We also had dinner there two nights, once with the special Indonesian multi-course set menu, and once a la carte. Both were delicious. All that said, and I still haven't gotten to the best part: the staff. Everyone at Ayung Resort went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. We appreciated their assistance with arrangements for a car and driver to Denpasar on our last day. They made the trip memorable and we hope to return in the future. Thank you, Ayung Resort, for a fantastic Bali experience!

Stayed 3 nights at this resort with my daughter and wished we could have stayed longer. From the welcome and check-in the whole stay was amazing, with 5 star service from every member of staff, the people working there are so lovely and work very hard to ensure you have everything you need or want. The hotel/ accommodation was spotless, the food was of an extremely high standard and the restaurant views of the rainforest were just stunning. You see amazing butterfly’s and birds, we had a monkey and her two small babies by the pool one day as well as seeing squirrel type animals in the trees. The hotel offers a complimentary afternoon tea every day 3-5 ands it’s really worth making the effort to go to the restaurant as it’s a range of small bite cakes etc.. The resort is hilly but they offer a buggy pick up from rooms and back again to transfer you to hotel facilities, you just call the main service desk, we found this was an excellent service and they always responded immediately. There are no lifts in the buildings so not good for disable people or those who find stairs difficult. They also offer free shuttle bus to Ubud centre approx 15 -30 mins ride , this goes approx 4 times a day . If you want to go in the evening they will arrange a taxi at extra cost . They also run morning yoga classes and have Spa services and gym. All in all I hope I get the opportunity to go back in the future as this is an away from it all resort and offers complete relaxation, a little piece of paradise.

The transfer is too expensive more than in twice time and you have no possibilities to use a local one. The breakfast was great and the food also. Tea time was excellent but small portions for two. Monkey is aggressive on territory.

Ayung Resort is magical - a quiet, peaceful haven set amongst the rainforest of Ubud, with the Ayung river close by. It is perfect for relaxing by the pools, getting massages, participating in free yoga or the gym, and enjoying delicious and generous breakfasts and afternoon teas. All of this is second to the staff, however, who are polite, welcoming and approachable. We stayed for eight days and were consistently impressed by not just the Resort and its facilities, but the service - from organising buggies and shuttles to remembering coffee orders at breakfast. I've seen Ubud change in the two visits, five years apart, that I've made. However, Ayung harks back to an Ubud of yesteryear - tranquility, nature and culture above scooters and tacky market stalls. The value of being in a more authentic Ubud is second-to-none.

We stayed here last week for our honeymoon. Travelling on a 26 hour flight was exhausting but this resort made it worth it. Everything was perfect! Highly recommend. We will definitely be back!!! Thank you.

My wife and I stayed at this resort for two days. This resort locates in the rainforest. It almost rained every afternoon. The resort offers free mini-bar and the coffee machine is very nice. The staff here showed us a tour of the resort in the golf car. They gave us kindly advice about the entertainment of Ubud. The view of the resort was very beautiful. You can see the rainforest around and the volcano not far away. We enjoyed the breakfast and the afternoon tea very much. I think I like the Australian-style breakfast and want to have more if I had the chance. The resorts offered free shuttle buses to Ubud. But the schedule was not very nice. I hope they can make the schedule better. But still, you can call the reception to order a taxi to Ubud.

My husband and I stayed at the Ayung Resort Ubud at the end of December 2019. Disappointing! We were booked in for 9 nights but ended our trip early staying only 3 nights. Our room was immersed in the rainforest which had minimal view, mildew on the trees outside main windows and a view of weeds. No windows to open and very large monkeys everywhere so required a buggy to get around resort as advised not to walk as they weren't friendly. Our bathroom reeked on cigarette smoke and monkey urine in the main room. The bath leaked so could only bath for a few minutes before all the water leaked out. The couch was stained and the room unclean. We are not allergy sufferers but this room made us both unwell. The pools are in desperate need of renovation. Service was fine, food was ok including the afternoon tea provided. Jam was placed on the breakfast tables in the morning which attracted the bees and most guests were fighting to shoo them away. We asked to change rooms after the first night but had to unfortunately wait out a second night before downgrading to a higher room to escape the mildew and mould. This resort is 20-30 minutes from central Ubud and there is only 1 restaurant provided breakfast lunch and dinner. We have stayed in Ubud and Payangan many times over 15 years and will not be back to Ayung.
