love the location as the legian beach is just across the street. the room is kept clean, the ala carte breakfast is tasty. the staffs are helpful. the hotel, even kuta/legian area and beach are still quiet during our stay in august 2020 which we enjoyed it. we arrived at the hotel as walk-in guests..as we found our reserved hotel is still CLOSED.

This hotel is just beautiful The gardens are incredible with flowers and statuary everywhere. You feel like you are in a private residence, it seems so secluded and so different from the rest of Kuta. No glitz, no glamor, just the beauty of Bali and its people. Everybody at the resort was kind, generous and helpful. A special shout out to Phillip, the manager who helped us out at every turn. We were at the resort at a very difficult time. Covid-19 had just started to ramp up in SE Asia and many flights, including our own were being canceled. Those who could leave did. The hotel had 8 guests left. Phillip kept on a staff to make sure we had breakfast and dinners available at the hotel everyday. When we did get a flight out he got us to the airport. He was cheerful and upbeat despite the economic disaster about to befall his country. I sincerely hope AlamKulKul, Phillip, and all the great people who work at this resort will survive the storm and keep this wonderful resort available to future tourists in Bali.

We stayed here for 5 nights. Rooms were nice and modern, grounds were kept very clean and tidy, and staff were very friendly. Also good location. One thing though, it would be easier for visitors, if the hotel allowed drivers to enter the resort and wait for them there, rather then making them wait on the Rd. It's hard to know if your driver is there or not, and if it's wet, you get soaked walking out to the main Rd. It's also not nice if the driver has to wait in the hot sun with no shade when he's out on the rd picking people up.

Unfortunately we went at the height of the coronavirus outbreak. But maybe this was in our favour as the resort was quiet and relaxing everywhere we went. Staff are super friendly. Room and bathroom were an excellent size and had everything we needed. I prefer the older ground floor bungalow style rooms in a garden setting with a veranda / sitting area. Having this option outside was fantastic, especially as it was rainy season and there was nothing else to do but sit outside with a drink, watch the rain and relax. Breakfast was very good. Maybe just put some pineapple on offer in the fruit selection. The front bar is convenient for a cocktail and to watch the world go by. Location on the front beach road is great for catching a taxi, going to the beach or walking to either Poppies II or Malasti Street for some shopping. I was taken aback when I received an email before arriving (day before I left Australia) asking for payment upfront, which I am putting down to the current Corona Virus probably causing a lot of cancellations. Communication to discuss this was prompt and professional. I was initially worried it was a SPAM email. As we paid on arrival the price did increase slightly from what I was quoted on booking.com so maybe just check this. I was so excited to stay here for the first time but check in was delayed which I was disappointed about (stating the room was not ready). We finally checked in at approx 3.30pm but after that everything was great. The check out process was without incident. It is not the cheapest option in Legian but it has character and an atmosphere the newer places don't have. Just depends on preference really.

Room Tip: Alam Lanai Room or similar. A ground level room with smaller pool just outside are great.

When we were looking for a hotel to stay in while in Bali there were so many options to choose from, but we liked Alam Kulkul the best, and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed every minute of our stay there, from the moment we arrived to when we left. We opted for a villa rather than a hotel room and even though it didn't seem extremely luxurious it was cozy and pleasant. We loved the decor and the style of the furniture, the open ceiling in the bathroom, the seating space outside the door... Not to mention the restaurants and the bar on the premises. The breakfast had a good number of options and the food was really good. I did miss maybe more traditional/typical Balinese offer, but there were many local restaurants in the vicinity anyway. They offer a variety of activities on the premises that are part of the Balinese culture, I really liked that. The absolute highlight for me was the Jamu Spa, I thoroughly enjoyed my treatment. The staff are beyond nice, they are extremely helpful and very friendly. We also loved the fact that the resort was this serene oasis with no noise even though it's right next to a very busy road. We are certainly coming back soon.
