“alamBatu” is a beautiful, spacious resort on Bali’s North-East coast, located approximately 5km from the dive area of “Tulamben”. The terrace shaped landscape spans over 1.6 hectares with big lava cliffs extending into the sea.
We had a lovely time at Alam Batu! The dive center was excellent - really great with our kids who are new divers. Lots of great dive spots, and the resort itself is also amazing, particularly the views and the spa! Lots of options for great day trips too.

I spent a little over a week at Alam Batu as part of a dive group with a non-diving companion. We both enjoyed our stay thoroughly missed it when we were gone. Alam Batu is on the northeast coast of Bali. There are many excellent dive sites in the area and the dive operation is top-notch. Danny, the manager, keeps a close eye on the dive center and keeps everything running smoothly. They have a team of excellent guides. The sites include muck diving, coral gardens, a wreck, and sandy expanses, so there is something for everyone. I experienced two of the my best dives ever there: beautiful dives with so much to see. Meanwhile my girlfriend was taking full advantage of the spa which is quite lovely. She went every day and I joined her for one memorable aromatherapy session. We also took several half-day tours to go see waterfalls and temples in the area. The hotel driver and tour guide, Gede, is charming, attentive, and skillful. The grounds are lovely with a beautiful pool and many comfortable places to lounge admire the sea and the pool. The pathways are lushly planted discretely lit at night. The staff keep the grounds immaculate. We had a villa with a king bed and a lovely outdoor bathroom. It was very clean, comfortable, and spacious. Hard to find anything to complain about. Maybe the overhead lights were a little dim. Yeah, that's about the extent of my criticisms. The food in the restaurant was good and sometimes very good. I can't say it was excellent. The restaurant is quite lovely, sheltered but outdoors, with views of the sea. The wait staff were all very thoughtful and attentive. It was a great place to meet up with my fellow divers and swap stories. There's also a very nice outdoor terrace where dinner was served if weather permitted. The location is remote from Ubud or Denpasar, which accounts for the laid-back feel of the place. But it does mean that visiting those places requires a considerable drive.…

Came here with a group for diving. My spouse - a non-diver also joined. This place was top notch. Great diving with an efficient and expert crew. Muck diving with them was a dream. Fantastic staff and spacious bungalows. On top of all of this, the spa was fantastic. I recommend the aromatherapy massage after a day of diving. The spa was my spouses favorite thing! The staff was terrific to work with - so flexible and easy to work with. I miss it already!

Everything about AlamBatu is perfection - I mean it. I don't usually go over the top like this, but AlamBatu really is amazing. The rooms are spectacular, spacious, ceiling fan and Aircon, and beautiful outdoor showers in the bathrooms. Amenities are all top notch. There are bales (covered lounge platforms) throughout the property with views to the ocean. Great for relaxing, reading and resting. The infinity pool is lovely too. We didn't take in the spa, but other travellers there did and they seemed to really enjoy all the treatments they had. The food is outstanding! Breakfast choices are numerous and the fresh baked bread is, well, if you like bread, prepare to be seriously impressed. Lunch and dinner options range from traditional Balinese to thin crust pizza. This place is extremely well managed and the staff are wonderful. Diving is great, just be prepared to swim to and from the boat. The shoreline is a bit rocky so entry and exit can be a challenge if the surf is up. We stayed 10 days and wish we had stayed longer. Thank you Danny and all the staff - hope to see you again soon.…

Wonderful dive spot for macro divers. Although sometimes demanding to get into the water it is a small paradise for macro lovers. We stayed here with our god child, that she can learn diving. It was perfect for us with some hundred dives and her well sheltered by her dive master. The villas were nice with own pool, the food was good and the athmosphere very relaxing. We felt always wellcome here. The service was near to perfect and manager and staff were allways very helpful. We enjoyed staying here and will come back for sure!

I must start by stating that a portion of our trip was a prize won at a local dive shop show. So I want to be certain that our appreciation for the hospitality and warmth of Alam Batu was greatly appreciated. We traveled with a group of six people for the purpose of having a dive vacation. Again, the resort itself is very well laid out, everyone we encountered from the owner to the manager to all the staff were warm, gracious, and extremely helpful. The accomodations were well maintained and very clean. We had a full meal plan and the diversity of meals was great. Each evening there is the option of the buffet and we participated in that because of the variety. The dive shop and dive staff are very well run. Everyone there was very helpful and did everything possible to handle our gear for us. They only have a small jetty and depending on the tides cannot always be used for loading of gear and passengers onto the dive boats. In those situations you need to walk/swim a short distance to the boat. The only reason for not giving this a full 5 star rating is the diving sites available from the resort. There is a variety of coral and muck diving but the numbers of critters to see are not anywhere near what we have been used to in other Indonesian locations. In my opinion, they do the best with what they have available. Overall, we had a great time at Alam Batu. We only wish the diving had been better here.…

Our first time staying in a small resort like this, and it was amazing. Based on our great experience here, we may never stay at another large resort again. The grounds were well kept and beautiful. The "room" or private bungalows were super comfortable and very pretty. The staff were super friendly and very accommodating. Food was well prepare, delicious, and always fresh. Management was readily available to assist with any and all needs and they were super friendly also. The local dive staff were incredible. The dive crews worked hard to make sure your gear was always ready and that that tanks were always available if you wanted to go out at any point in time. The diving prep area was very clean and organized and offered two different camera rooms. Once underwater the dive masters leading the trip were extremely talented at spotting even the smallest nudibrants and pygmy seahorse. Our guide, Dolfi, had eagle eyes underwater and shared with us tons of wildlife we would have missed if we weren't diving with him. It's impressive how different the diving locations could be while each spot is only a minute or two away from the neighboring locations. However it did leave me wondering if there were any good spots if we took the boat a little further down the coast since 90% of the dive sites are a 1-2 minute boat ride away. If I were staying in Bali again in the future, I would defiantly go back to Alam Batu.…

We visited Alam Batu March 2019. It was our German travel agency SAM Reisens choice for a relaxed and quite Bali dive resort. And a perfect one it was! My wife Annette and I enjoyed 2 weeks of Balinese kindness, great food and a very supportive hotel and dive center management. Whenever we came up with some special wishes such as a fish BBQ or a special dive site - Danny, Sri, Susann and their teams made it happen. Beautiful and very clean rooms, infinity pool, restaurant at the sea - what more do you need? Diving at Alam Batu is perfect for Macro fans and all sites are within 2-15 minutes by speed boat. The great ship wreck site with the Liberty is only 10 min away. Sometimes medium to strong currents - but that means a lot of fish beside the small stuff. The house reef alone is worth several hours of underwater exploration. Awesome. Thank's again to all of you!…

This small dive resort was an elegant and culturally rich background for a wonderful diving experience. The bungalows were beautifully appointed, the dive center was organized and spacious, the food was good, and the service was top-notch. Be aware that you must swim to the boats for each dive. Booties recommended for rocky beach.
