Im very grateful to this hotel as they took us in after the hotel before the Nusa Bay was a disaster. There is a fantastic infinity pool with loungers around the edge under trees which seem filled with humming birds. There is also a hot spring which is super to sit in and all with a view over the bay. We had a bay view room with a garden and outside bathroom. The room was well equipped and when we asked for another chair it was there in minutes. We were introduced to the registered manager who wanted to make sure that our stay was a good one. I do think that due to the low season they had cut down on the menu in the restaurant. The first evening the bar tender was great and even helped us make a dragon fruit cocktail but the second the waitress just said that there wasnt a bar person on duty. A shame as there are not really any other places to go around there. The spa was wonderful, though they were a little surprised when we turned up as there has clearly been communication problems between reception and them. these little niggles are the only reason i could not score a five. If you are in this area I really would give this place a try.

Naya Gawana is a beautiful Eco resort in a quiet area of Bali, everyone should take the time to discover this lovely off the well travelled road area. The location is stunning, we stayed in a Bay View lodge and had wonderful views, the room was beautiful and we loved the outdoor garden and bathroom. All of the staff at the resort were excellent and really took the time to make sure we had an excellent stay. There is very little evidence in Bali to back up the commitment to discontinue single use plastics by the end of 2022 but this resort really shows their commitment with water dispensers in all areas, reusable metal water bottles in the room and refillable ceramic bottles for all complimentary toiletries, well done Naya Gawana! Sipping on fresh coconut poolside. watching my 9 and 12 year old in the pool all day is just what I needed. They would come out to enjoy a nana split and play pool. The staff even did craft time with them. We stayed in the lumpung suit and it was the perfect size with a built in large bathtub. Our snorkeling tour boat ride was great you can not miss it we saw every school of tropical fish you could imagine. The best part was the staff from management to all the wait staff we already miss them they are a great team. Please go visit them and they monkeys will be sure to greet you as well. We learned this is a locally owned and operated eco resort so please don’t skip it it’s worth the drive.

We have literally left the hotel and I couldn't wait to write a review. It is our first time in Bali and our expectations are continually being surpassed. I had some correspondence with the staff at Naya Gawana as it was our 29th wedding anniversary whilst staying. Emails were prompt and very helpful. The attention to detail is sublime. Everything from the emails to arrival, as well as the continual efforts by the staff and management whilst you are there. We would recommend the mangrove tour, which has been recently revised to support the local community. It was beyond words. The guide was amazing. We saw deer, heron, egret and many kingfisher diving and catching fish. The tour concluded at sunset drinking hot ginger tea on a traditional Bali boat.
We also booked the romantic meal on the jetty. Such a labelled event in the UK would probably lead to disappointment. Falling far short of the mind's eye. We can honestly say it was one of the most truly wonderful experiences of our life. The jetty was decorated and prepared. We had three staff attending to our needs. There were flower decorations and traditional Bali music played by an accomplished member of staff. For over two hours we were treated like royalty. A night we shall not forget. The attention to detail was incredible. Staff discretely checked with us throughout the day. The manager came to check personally and spoke with us throughout our stay. We can't thank the staff enough for their attention to detail, their friendliness and the dedication to us to ensure we had a great time. All that and an infinity pool, great food in the restaurant and sited in a national park, surrounded by mangrove. Thank you for everything xxxx

Spent a week here and enjoyed my time relaxing and scuba diving. The staff were very attentive and the room was really nice. Large grounds to walk around and the food was good at the restaurant. The diving centre offered trips each day, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The team was great and the diving was unexpectedly good - I’d done no research. Nice to be in this part of Bali. Transfer was well organised from the airport, and the spa massage was great ! I will hopefully be back

Had the most wonderfully pleasant 3 night stay at the Bayview Suite. This small but spacious little villa is perfect for a couple. The staff was excellent. Restaurant food was so good that we had all our meals there. Great resort for getting away from it all.

I stayed here with my family and enjoyed a peaceful time. The facilities are great with super helpful staff, a fantastic infinity pool overlooking the bay and a convenient spa. The reflexology i had was superb and the snorkling was first class. The kids loved the huge variety of fish. A bit of the beaten path but well worth the journey!

What a memorable place to stay, the staff knows how to serve from the heart. We did snorkling activity around Menjangan island one of the best spot in Bali. Look for Mr. Astika for assistance, friendly personality and provide us with very helpful info regarding the surrounding. Really recomended, pretty sure will come back in the future.

My husband and I stayed in a Lumbung Suite at Gawana in June. And we loved it! Prior to this, I was debating between Matahari Resort and Gawana and am so glad that I chose the former!
A very strong selling point for this resort is the service. The staff seemed closely knit and were extremely accommodating, helpful and friendly. Being right in the midst of World Cup fever, my husband wanted to watch a lot of matches. There is no TV in the room, but they had a small one in the dive shop and invited my husband to watch with them. The staff were extremely professional. They apologised for the small TV, the not-so good reception, and some staff who were watching TV with him couldn't speak very good English, but their hospitality made up for it. Sport is, after all, an international language.
We also took a snorkelling package from them. It was a day trip to Menjangan island. We had a guide, called Ketut. Personally, I feel that Menjangan is the best place for snorkelling in Bali. There are loads of fish and live coral. There is also a drop, so it's also possible to do diving there.
According to our guide, there are big waves in August. We also snorkelled at 2 spots. One spot was for fish, the other was to look at corals (there were also fish there, but less). What's also nice is that it's pretty shallow, so that visibility's very good. Ketut was works at Banyu Mandi (I hope I spelt it correctly), which is next to Gawana Novus. He has only been there for about a year. He was very good because he picked up any rubbish that was floating in the sea (that scored a lot of points for me!), and he bothered to dive down and bring stuff for us to touch and see (e.g. sea cucumber, starfish, etc). He doesn't scuba dive, but he "free dives" i.e. no aqualungs/oxygen tanks and his record is 28m. The packed lunch was also delicious.
When we got back from our snorkelling, we tried scuba diving in the pool (this was free for the guests - and if we had wanted, we could've done it every day). I thought that this was a great because I have always wanted to try scuba diving, but didn't really want to pay so much money, in case I didn't like it after the first lesson and wouldn't be able to get a refund.
We also decided to do a hike in the National Park. You need proper shoes. This guide was also very good and pointed out the various fauna and flora and explained stuff along the way. Unfortunately, I have forgotten his name!
The menu at the restaurant was unfortunately a bit limited. Later on, we found out that the chef was new - as in he had just started working there a few days prior to our arrival. I'm sure that there will be a wider selection later on. However, another couple who was staying there told us that the waiter had actually proposed some more dishes which were not on the menu. I think this couple ended staying there for at least 8 days, so yes, am sure they wouldn't tried everything on the menu after the 3rd or 4th day!
And if you still don't like anything on the menu, well you can just walk over to Mimpi Resort next door (10 min walk). I had a look at the rooms at Mimpi and the publised rates were the same as Gawana, but Gawana is much prettier.
They also don't have a library and internet connection is very slow - the staff kept apologising about that though. They are also going to have a pool table. The room was not ready yet, but the table was "up and running", so if we had wanted to, we could've played pool at night.
The water in the bathroom is also from the hot springs (don't worry, it's been cooled down, and the smell is not strong at all), so that's also good for the skin.
We only tried the complimentary foot massage at the spa, so I can't comment on the massages. The spa is lovely though. There are only 2 treatment rooms and the view is lovely.
On another day there, we wanted to rent a motorbike and explore the area. However, we were told by one of the staff, John, that they didn't have any motorbikes for rent. However, he offered to lend us HIS motorbike. NO rental fee. He only asked that we pay for the petrol - i.e. we were free to top it up ourselves at the service stations or the roadside stalls, not give him a fee for the petrol. I thought that was great hospitality!! He just lent us his bike and trusted us completely.
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Gawana. We are definitely going to go back there. I can't stop raving about it. However, Gawana is NOT for everyone. It's out in the styx, not located along a main road, no other restaurants nearby. There isn't very much to do there, so you must be prepared for that. It's a great place to read, write and just chill out. No shopping, no world class food. Just a cozy, home away from home. We can't wait to go back!

The price of Snorkeling is IDR 855,000.- per person inclusive boat, snorkeling gear, guide, lunch box, National Park Ticket Normal Day.
During Sunday or Public Holiday additional National Park Ticket is IDR 125,000.- per person
Our Dive and Snorkeling is under EXTRA DIVERS INTERNATIONAL.
We may suggest you to use the National Park Ticket to book other land activity during the day you book snorkeling, so you save the cost of the ticket on the other activity you book.

In our opinion, the Lumbung suites look fantastic but our children stayed in the Bayview suites and my wife and I both would have preferred to have stayed there. The Bayview suites are all on one floor with an outside (private) bathroom that was beautiful.

Yes, they organize such trip. And there is another hotel I have stayed last year, Prui Dajuma, is also a good place to stay if you want to explore national park. Dajuma service is even better than Naya Gawana, it is right by the beach and have marvelous sunset. But it is a bit away from ,enjangan, about 80 mins by car, if you plan to go diving, it is not that convenient.
"There's a beach club nearby (20min by car), the Octagon, where you can have lovely food /cocktails and use a the pool all day (with monkeys and deers everywhere). "
There are more places to choose from in the Banyuwedang area.
