About Us, Welcome to the ECO – friendly Hotel Uyah Amed and Spa and our Café Garam. Café Garam, which means Salt Café, is part of Hotel Uyah Amed and Spa Resort, which we have translated as Salt Lodge Amed. Garam is the Indonesian – and Uyah the Balinese word for salt. Mid 2000 we were sitting in Amed and discussed the tremendous changes in the area due to the growing tourism. More and more salt production fields were left unused or sold by their owners to be used for bungalows etc. Since we did not like the idea that the traditional salt production would disappear in the near future we worked out our plan to preserve this tradition for the people of Amed as well as for interested foreigners. In order to combine the development of tourism with the traditional lifestyle we decided to build this hotel and café around the salt production fields and use the salt production as our motto. We strive to preserve the traditional salt production by promoting it as point of interest for foreigne

Nicely situated hotel. However multiple geckos in the room kept us up at night and the hot water was only there sporadically. The prices were all way too expensive compared to surrounding prices and breakfast was not so good, with set menus to choose between.

Let's suffice to say: I wouldn't even look for anywhere else next time I travel to Amed.
They have spacious and very clean rooms with beautiful high ceilings, well lit, well ventilated and stunning views of the sea, two great pools, nicely maintained gardens and a top-quality dive center.
Location is somewhat central and there are nice cafes and restaurants, bars and clubs around (as well as their own restaurant).
Staff are very helpful and they were also super flexible with our changes in booking.
Thank you Hartmuth and team for the wonderful time. See you on our next trip.

We stayed in an ocean view bungalow that was an older style (as all in the resort are), however the entire place is well laid out, clean and green. The staff are friendly attentive and very helpful. If you’re in Amed for water activities, diving snorkeling etc, the easy access to all the dive shops (& this resort has their own dive shop). It’s a 20 min walk to Jemeluk beach. About 5-10 min to middle of Amed.
Great value for money resort!

Hmmm look, it’s worth the price of $65 AUD a night. I only booked this for their dive school for my partner as it came highly recommended to us, but if I could do it again I would book elsewhere to stay. The dive school was excellent, my partner felt very safe and really got along with the instructor.

The hotel itself was just okay. We had an ocean view room… I guess if you squinted you would be able to see the ocean but it definitely was not what I would call ‘ocean view.’ Our room itself was very very dark and the bathroom looked like something out of the movie “silence of the lambs.” The room was FULL of mozzies so thankfully the beds did have mozzie netting over them. The bed itself was actually really really comfortable and the air conditioner was really effective and quiet. But that was just about all that was quiet. Both nights we stayed there was BLARING music from the bar next door. On our second night we had a wonderful symphony of loud bar music to our left, loud traditional Balinese music from their performance in the restaurant on our right and two feral cats fighting just outside the door. This noise went on until about midnight. I guess we should have known given that the only provided amenities were earplugs.

The breakfast… The only good thing about it was that it was included. It was almost uneatable. The dining area was also really unpleasant to be in, it was dark and again full of mozzies due to the stagnant water in the water features around the restaurant.

The Spa, in total transparency I did not use their spa facilities but I thought it was worth noting I did go scope out their spa before making that decision. The Spa was the same was the rooms, very very dark and extremely dated. I found a really wonderful spa up the road (Amed Bali Spa) with even better prices and a beautiful facility.

Good things:
*comfy bed
* nice air conditioner
*front pool area was pretty nice
*great location, lots of awesome cafes, Spa’s and restaurants nearby
*would probably really suit budget or backpack traveller

Bad things:
*dark rooms and dining area
*really dated and dirty bathroom
*rooms full of mozzies
*very very loud in rooms
*unkept grounds made resort look messy and breeding ground for mozzies in all the broken water features
*really very not good breakfast
*staff seemed uninterested and even put out by our presence

Photos are quite outdated. Appreciate covid times have been hard but many aspects are in need of a refresh- from the ripped pool tables, chipped tiles in the pool, bed sheets with holes. Our shower in the first room barely had water coming through the head.
The grounds are massive and I’m sure they’ve had better times, but we’ve had better quality accommodation in Amed this trip for c£5 less a night . Tried to hire snorkelling equipment from the in house dive centre- was double the price we’d paid down the road.

Ideal for wheelchair guests. All areas accessible by ramps. Staff extremely friendly and professional. Good breakfast selection

Only problem for disabled guests is the difficulty to enter either of the pools. Non slip tiles and a grab bar on the steps , with no slope at the bottom of the steps would solve this problem

A very, very lovely place to stay. The place is big and it is as one with the nature. I think the photos do not do the hotel's justice. Place is spacious and just very relaxing. I got a room quite close to the beach-- literally less than 30 seconds and I could stand on the sand. It's truly wonderful. The restaurant is great, I was so happy with the food I didn't even bother too much to go find anther place to eat during my 4 days stay.

Staffs are welcoming and helpful. They helped me to arrange a ride to the airport. It's hard to imagine what they can do even better.

The only thing is that in my last day, the wifi didnt work very well. And I was told because they use solar power or something, if i had a shower too later, there might be no hot water. But that didnt bother me too much.

And they have a very cute, playful cat : )

Very nice resort-style hotel at the beach in the heart of Amed. Nic bungalows, great sea-views, excellent breakfast lunches, very helpful staff. Not your standard western type hotel, but if you like a nice Balinese hotel with very friendly people, two swimming pools and a beach filled with fisherman’s boats, and a short walk over the beach to some excellent warungs, this is it

Tradicional balinese hotel in front of the village tradicional fisherman. The room is simple but comfortable, i miss having a blanket since my husband always sleep iff very low temperature aircom. Breakfast simple but very tastefull a la carte. The swiming pool was good clean and nice temperature. Another point is the bars around could be a bit loud , but in my case i was soo tired that just fall sleep. The highlight was the staff very kind happy and prompt. Defenilly very good for the value. I would came back.

Dear Sir, In front of our Hotel you can just swim or Diving deep of 15 meters, than you will see much down there (especially for diving call Amed Ghost Bay especialy for micro ) The coral garden starts right off the beach in Jemeluk and is one of Bali’s best snorkelling areas. It is about 25 minutes walk at the beach or go by traditional Jukung (outrigger boat) and takes about 10 minutes. Jemeluk is area for snorkeling a lot of fish and clear water. Hope this information help you. best regards
