The place is what outdated but is still fine. Villas is not the right way subscribing the stay, bungalow would be better. Cleaning is done perfect and daily. The place lies directly on the beach and has a good pool. Unfortunately it also lies directly next to the road and you can hear every scooter that drives by. There is enough staff in the restaurant, the girls mean well, but really don’t know what serving people means. Because most people eat at other places, they aren’t that busy. So they giggle a lot and it sometimes feels you are staying at a high school. You can’t really blame them, they have the best intentions and if you ask them anything they serve you well. The problem is that the place is not managed. There are two young guys that sit mostly at the reception talking to other guys and staring at their phone. I think they are management, but I have never see them doing it. If they interact with the staff it is mostly to giggle with the girls or make sure that they are served their own dinner. If you ask them a question, they talk back, but don’t expect them to take there eyes of their phone or ask you how your stay is. In fairness I don’t think they were ever trained properly either. But if I was the owner I would train management and staff and I would be sure I would make four times the revenue, than the place makes now. We had a nice stay, but it could have been so much better. The diving school that is connected to the hotel is perfect, better than perfect.

Stayed here diving with Two Fish. It’s a great place in an excellent location for diving. They are currently renovating the rooms. The existing rainbow decor is a bit worn and the renovated rooms look much much better! Great staff. Definitely looking forward to returning when the rooms are fully renovated.

Arrived and checked out after only 10 hours instead of the 8 nights planned. We booked this property to have the diving on site and be directly on the beach. We had been offered a free upgrade worth almost 100USD by the OTA we used for the booking and we had been allocated exactly in the room number 6 we saw in photo. But what a surprise! Arrived in Amed around 2am, entered the room and we found a mix of humidity and bugs spray smell waiting for us, along with so many holes in the wooden floor that made us feel unsafe to walk. Bed on the upper level surrounded by thick dust and plenty of gecko poop on it, bed on ground floor with many tiny red ants on and in it. Where is the nice mosquito net of the photos? nothing else than big holes on the wall left. Shall we use the drawer? impossible as the gap is so big that everything will fall on the floor. Shall we use the bathroom? of course the tank is not filling up by itself and the white camphor balls back of it let us think a lot. We cannot do anything else than waiting the morning and check out. But of course "you have to pay 405000 rupees for 1 night cause you stayed here". Not only the rooms need to be renovated and the management kept on telling that there was a note in the room informing about it, but also the staff understanding need to be changed. How can you ask to pay almost 30 USD for such a room and without caring that instead of diving we have now to search for another hotel? I do not recommend the family rooms of this hotel even for free unless a deep renovation will be completed and I would suggest the management to train their staff. Forgot to say that as soon as we paid, the property changed our stay from 8 to 1 night with the OTA.

Great service by staff....bathroom floors made of natural stones which takes a bit of getting used too. Great place to stay if diving with Two Fish Divers. Super easy to hire a scooter to duck into Amed proper (2 min ride away)

We stayed for two nights at Surya Rainbow on our tour of Bali and Lombok. We stayed in Amed for an easy day crossing to the Gilis. Right on the beach, with a good swimming pool, quite deep as if is used for dive instruction. The rooms surround the pool with a restaurant also by the pool. It is only a small hotel, and it would appear to be jointly run with Two Fishes Diving. Firstly both the hotel and diving staff were all great. So friendly, that even after 2 days we knew everyone's name. The room was spacious with high ceilings, and we also had an extra bedroom for our daughter in the roof space. The a/c was good. A small veranda outside the room with chairs and bean bags. The food was great - nothing too fancy - but great views across the the beach. A few sun beds around the pool, and of course the sea. We relaxed very quickly, and then sadly we had to leave. We all wished we had stayed longer, but let's hope we have the opportunity to visit again.
