A friend and I stumbled across this lovely hotel on our trek throughout India. The owners were so hospitable and kind. The price was affordable for us, and we had such a pleasant stay. We were traveling in the off season, and they were very hospitable. I would only caution about going to the elephant orphanage, which is mentioned in... More

Hygiene standards were low and the bed sheets smelled weird. There was a road costruction going on right outside of the hotel. There is also a railway close to the place that you can hear pretty well in the night. The pool felt dirty so we didn't want to swim. Breakfast was by menu and takes a long time compared... More

The hotel itself is beautiful, with high ceilings and vintage finishes. The service is average for what you are paying for and the restaurant is overrated. The construction does not help the ambience of the hotel however the pool is warm and clean.

We arrived to the sound and vibrations due to pneumatic pile drivers being used in the construction of a raised by-pass in front of the hotel. This is not what we had in mind escaping from London. We immediately booked out and found alternative accommodation. The staff did not seem particularly concerned nor indeed helpful. We believe given the nature... More

We have just stayed here for 4 nights on Nov 2015. it was like having your own private villa. The rooms and surroundings are amazing. The bedrooms are fab. The bed is so high you have a step to get up to it. For a bit of culture, go book it. the restaurant next door is good quality food and... More

A comfortable, clean and well maintained historic boutique hotel by the sea but easily accessible to town. Large well appointed rooms, nice pool and good restaurant with friendly service and decent food. Large scale road works are taking place outside the front of the property which, for the moment, detracts from the appearance but didn't affect our enjoyment of our... More

It's not often that you find a hotel even nicer than the photos. The website does not do this place justice. Common areas and rooms are beautiful. Breakfast is delicious with a number of options including a tasty cardamon style french toast, aka Bombay toast. Definitely recommend. (Maybe avoid the laundry service which brought our whites back dirtier than before.... More

My daughter and I did not stay at the Raheem because it was over our budget but we did use the pool ( you have to pay 450 rips each) and that included access to wi-fi. The pool was delightful and clean, with comfortable sun loungers and towels provided. We also went there for supper which was excellent and good... More

This place has good bones. The renovation is great - you're taken back in time to another era. However , that's where the positives end. The service is virtually non-existent. The pool is dirty. The restaurant is expensive and not worth it. We rarely saw an employee and went in out without being noticed on a number of occasions which... More

This was the most expensive hotel we stayed in during a 3 week trip to South India. We stayed in some beautiful places and received excellent service, so we were quite disappointed by the Raheem residency. Good points: location by the beach. Nice pool. Friendly staff Negatives. With an eco friendly policy they had air con but no fridge or... More

Raheem Residency at Alleppey Beach, one hour south of Cochin, is an 1868 colonial property which was passionately restored in a classic, Indian style in 2003 by a small Indo-European private limited company. It is now recognized by the Tourism Dept of India as a genuine Heritage Hotel of India. Originally built by an Englishman, it was the home of the Raheems, an eminent Alleppey family, for one hundred years.
