Beautifully restored 'bungalow' with large comfortable air-conditioned rooms which are full of character. Very efficient service and a good restaurant which is approached via a spiral staircase. The food is good and their is a view of the beach in the distance through the trees. The chairs in the restaurant are comfortable whicker affairs that encourage you to linger. The... More

What a beautiful place - we stayed as a family of 6 (children ages 10-16) and it was totally relaxing. The food is exquisite - the lunch biryani is among the most wonderful thing I have ever eaten, anywhere - and the service is excellent - quiet, refined and caring. Our rooms were Ummi and Beti, close to the pool... More

Having been to Kerala previously, I thought I knew what to expect- resort, resort, resort, not inexpensive... and then I stayed in Raheem Residency. A great location for couples or solo travellers looking for a calm, restorative place to stay and chill out. The room was great. A/C, extra large bed, great bathroom with hot shower and plenty extras for... More

It nearly works. It is a fabulous, in the true sense of the word, old residence. Stay here for the ambience, for the location (good access to rice boat trips on the back waters, across from the beach, near about 6 good places for food, coffee, drinks & 3Ks from the drab & noisy town & station), stay for for... I wanted to stay in a heritage hotel with old fashioned furniture etc so chose this. Alleppy beach is not as nice I expected - rather scrubby and bare. The worst shock was when we arrived there was incredibly loud roadworks right outside the gates. There was also a noisy youth festival down the road and on the other side... More

After the heat of the train and bouncing of the tut tut, it was a relief to arrive here. As soon as we entered the Raheem Residency it felt like we were cocooned in a bit of a bygone era. The staff were friendly and helpful and our room was pretty wow! Ceilings must have been about 15' with a... More

I have a thing for heritage properties, so I chose Raheem Residency during my first solo trip to Kerala. And the hotel didn't disappoint. The rooms are so delightfully old world, yet have everything that a traveler would need today. Everywhere you look, from the door to the ceiling to the bed, there's a piece of history laced with elegance.... More

My mother and I stayed at Raheem Residency for one night. The hotel itself is beautiful with lovely decor, spacious and clean rooms and a lovely pool. The food was great (and they serve alcohol). It is worth checking the status of the roadworks when you book - the Main Street outside the hotel which is right on the beach... More

A friend and I stumbled across this lovely hotel on our trek throughout India. The owners were so hospitable and kind. The price was affordable for us, and we had such a pleasant stay. We were traveling in the off season, and they were very hospitable. I would only caution about going to the elephant orphanage, which is mentioned in... More

Hygiene standards were low and the bed sheets smelled weird. There was a road costruction going on right outside of the hotel. There is also a railway close to the place that you can hear pretty well in the night. The pool felt dirty so we didn't want to swim. Breakfast was by menu and takes a long time compared... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Raheem Residency at Alleppey Beach, one hour south of Cochin, is an 1868 colonial property which was passionately restored in a classic, Indian style in 2003 by a small Indo-European private limited company. It is now recognized by the Tourism Dept of India as a genuine Heritage Hotel of India. Originally built by an Englishman, it was the home of the Raheems, an eminent Alleppey family, for one hundred years.
