Lovely hostel, clean and great atmosphere. Food is also very good at a very nice rooftop bar. Thanks also to tango for bringing us on a great countryside tour in his tuk tuk, he also helped us arrange our transport to Ho Chi Minh. Great stay overall
I would like to make a special shout out to 2 of the front desk receptionists; Ainy and Vin. These two humans were so genuine and sweet. They welcomed me with support, care and positivity from the second I arrived. It was an absolute pleasure meeting them. They always had smiles on their faces and I could see them treating every guest with the same level of respect and kindness. They really made my stay at Karma Traders. I loved seeing them everyday! If I needed anything these pair went above and beyond to accommodate me! :) I wish the staff upstairs behaved in the same manner. Unfortunately I was met with hostility and a horribly rude attitude every time I encountered the 2 Cambodian women. They would barely even look you in the eye when ordering your food or drink, or even worse scowled at you when they couldn’t hear you and barked back. I felt very uncomfortable no matter how many times I tried to thank them and have a genuine conversation. They looked like they couldn’t want to be there any less. It is true what they say that a smile goes such a long way.…
I stayed at the fabulous Karma Traders for 9 nights. It’s only a short 15 mins walk into town or you can get a cheap taxi in. Alternatively, you can rent a scooter (with a helmet) from the hostel for a mere $5/day to get around town or explore further afield. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. You can book tours from reception, get your laundry done. I stayed in a private room (in the shipping container), where I had a desk and solid wifi for working remotely. There’s a swimming pool to cool off on the hot days. A great rooftop terrace where you can meet fellow travellers. A good mix of ppl from across the globe of all ages (20-75 years old). Taco Tuesday was amazing - excellent food, a live band and dancing into the night. There’s an open mic night if you fancy yourself as talented. And the quiz night on Sundays. Food was always good with large portions and drinks are reasonably priced. Free filter water to stay hydrated. My favourite hostel in Cambodia. If you’re passing through Kampot, then this is the place to stay. And be sure not to miss the infamous Taco Tuesdays.…
Lovely hostel with super helpful staff! So many comfy places to relax and chill, from the roof top bar with comfy seats to the sun loungers by the pool. The roof top bar has amazing Mountain View’s too where you can watch the sunset! The food is delicious too with cheap drinks to match. All round fantastic hostel at a fab price and very cute pets too!
Clean space with ensuite bathrooms. Great activity recommendations and helpful staff (shout out to Vin!) Easy to hire scooters and short walk into town. Due to location not many tuk tuk drivers around but can call one easily through apps
tried to take the family to a different place in town @ 4pm Sunday, but our burgers were interrupted by a rock cutting saw at 100 decibels--really hard to eat while having your hands covering your ears ON A SUNDAY
I can't say enough wonderful things about Karma Traders! I love that they serve breakfast til 3 and have a sheet on the bed (rather than a thick comforter) plus some of the most comfortable mattresses of any I've yet encountered in Thailand or Cambodia. They attract super friendly customers and serve fabulous food at their on-site restaurant. They’ve put a lot of thought into providing space and activities for both an older and younger crowd with private rooms on the edge of the property as well as quiet areas around the land for those who want/need time alone but then bars at both the upstairs and pool for those who want more interaction. The owners, Jolly and Courtney, are super nice and approachable and the staff are very good at what they do, helping to contribute to the overall vibe. I have recently moved to Kampot and because of my positive experiences staying as a guest here - along with the great good food - I plan to become a regular at the restaurant and music events and I will recommend that my friends stay here when they come to visit as well.…
Great value, staff are really nice, the rooftop bar is brilliant. The taco Tuesday is a must! Would highly recommend. We rented a bike from the hostel which was perfect, takes 2 minutes to reach the town centre via bike or Tuk Tuk (which are usually at hand at the front of the hostel for $2 or less). Rooms are spacious and have air con.
Honestly one of the most chill hostels I’ve ever been at, staff is very friendly and helps out with everything. The private room is also very spacious and super clean! The swimming pool was a nice extra but sadly couldn’t use it due to the rain. Overall one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at it SEA!
We had originally planned to stay for just three nights and extended our stay to a full week. After over a month of travel, this was by far the most lively, welcoming, and community-oriented hostel we've stayed at. Jolly and the team host nightly events, the staff are incredibly sweet and helpful, and there's always a perfect poolside vibe to join in on. Don't even get us started on the food - YUM. Alicia and Whinn helped us get set up with everything from dinner recommendations, laundry, a motorbike, and a bus ticket back to Phnom Penh. We can't recommend Karma Traders enough. You will instantly feel relaxed and at home.
