Located on the riverside, ten minutes up north from Kampot's touristic center, The Sabay Beach offers to its guests a natural and relaxing environment. With its 49 organic mango trees, as well as some durians and coconut trees, the fresh fruits lovers will be fully satisfied. The venue is surrounded by durian farms and a fisherman village (1km down south) which gives the opportunity to the visitors to discover the best of what remote Cambodia has to offer. With a 1100m2 white sand beach and its seaside style bar-restaurant, The Sabay Beach recently became one of the largest sand beach on Kampot's riverside.

Had such a wonderful stay here! Fantastic service from the friendly staff, lovely relaxation areas to hang out overlooking the river. Tasty food that was expensive by local standards but delicious and well worth sticking around for! Getting to and from the accomodation didn't prove to be a problem even after dark, but be prepared for a bumpy ride!

Ok, I will have to walk you though my wonderful experience in this place. We took the bus from Phnom Penh to Kampot (a 9hrs bumpy and dusty ride...but fun=). Off we go in the tuktuk to take us at the Sabay Beach. The place is about 6.3km from the city center, but the ride will take about 20mins in a tuktuk (10/15mins by motorbike). When you arrive at the hotel, you will enter a big door surrounded by a huge bamboo wall, follow the path straight ahead (walk passed the bungalows on your right) and cross the awesome wooden bridg into a tunnel of vegetation (first positive feeling..). Arrived at the end,we see a long steep set of stairs (hold the railing on your first attempt ;) ), and a cheerful voice greet you with a "Hellooooo, Welcome to the Sabay Beach!, you can leave your bags and take off your shoes, we do the check-in up here." I look up and meet a happy, smilling man called Picadi inviting you to have a seat and a welcome tea after this long travel day (Second positive feeling...). while you dink your tea, or beer, depending on the travel day you had =). Take a moment to walk around the bar/dinning/ loung area overlooking the river, listen to the birds and sink it all in... (Peaceful feeling...) Off to the rooms. We had the AC2 room (Aircon) by the road. Nice, spaciouse room with nice shower room.We were there for 12 days and it was perfect for us.They also have rooms at tree top level and some by the river. All I can say is I slept like a baby in a very good bed. (Comfy feeling...) As for activities. The Sabay has 2 canoe's to paddel along the river which i highly recommend, ask the staff about the mangrove, beautiful! The hotel is located near many activities the area has to offer. Bokor Mt. Kep crab market, pepper plantation and a multitude of waterfalls. Or, just stay on the beach area or deck and swim in the river. Yes the river is clean! No, there are no man eating creatures in the river! =) Just ask the staff, they will bendover backwards to help you organize your day. Renting a motorbike is the best wat to get arround. If you can't ride one, the staff will help provide a tuktuk or driver for you.( reassuring feeling...) To sum it all up, if you want to get away in a natural environment. Meet people from all over the world and have one of the best improvized night with good wine and even better food over looking the river during a beautiful sunset. Be assisted by an exellent management team as well as vary nice and helpful staff. Not afraid to move arround and get a little dusty (or muddy) for the place is worth everymoment. The the Sabay Beach is for you. My thanks to the Management team and the staff for unforgettable time spent in your resort. James

You read about friendly staff everywhere and while it may be true, the team at sabay beach lives it. I have been travelling a bit and did not see this genuine hospitality often. The treehouses between mangroves, palm trees and mangos is just marvellous. The natural beach, the river and the view on the mountains on the other side - mesmerising! You can see that everyone is there is living sabay beach with their full hearts: sustainable set up (cloth napkins, metal or glass straws) , enthusiasm for the offered food (and fully justified), they create their own cocktails (with or without alcohol) and offer their full support as if it was their own journey! The rooms do not have aircon but a fan and the river breeze made up for that and to live between the tree tops is great experience for sure! Sabay beach is a bit outside Kampot. Don't let this stop you. On the contrary it gives you the chance to get a glimpse of real every day life. There is not much traffic so even as a not experienced driver you can make it with a scooter (the guys will help you with getting one) - just go slow and enjoy the adventure. Or you take a tuktuk as you do at any other place too.

I only stayed for a few nights, but nonetheless my stay was great. I was in a tree house right on the river, with absolutely spectacular views morning and evening. The staff could not have been more jovial or helpful, happy to chat and accommodate your every need. Motos and kayaks are available for hire, and the owners are often on site to give some useful pointers for exploring the local area. A few cons: I would say that the general vibe felt more accommodating to couples than the solo traveller, and the water pressure in the shower was quite hit and miss. In comparison to other hotels and guesthouses the food seemed a little pricey, with portions that could be more generous to reconcile the seeming extra cost. (I wish I could have given 3.5 stars really, taking into account the cons, but felt the 4 better reflects the truth over a 3!)

Set on one of the most beautiful locations I've had the pleasure of seeing, Sabay Beach is nothing short of magical. Upon arrival, I was greeted with warm smiles from the staff, an incredible view, the tallest watermelon shake and very positive vibes. The tree house was comfortable, surrounded by mango trees and other beautiful greenery. The food was excellent, but I'd have to say that the staff were my favourite. Hospitality like that is hard to come by! Highly recommend this place. Just be prepared for the tuk tuk ride on the way. Female travellers, a bra is highly recommended for those bumpy roads!
