Our ranger, Good Luck, helped us find many animals, off road, and up close and personal! It was here we saw the leopard, helping us complete seeing all of the big five! I took over 500 pictures of birds, small and big animals. The elephants here were so close to our jeep!!!! The managers of Oliver's Camp could not have... More

This camp is simply stunning evoking the spirit of traditional safari with everything you could possibly need. The "tents" are wonderfully furnished, the bed is very comfortable. There is even running water for the outdoor shower - which has to be experienced to be believed. Jackie and Justin are wonderful hosts and turned a beautiful resort in to a warm... More

This was our first tented camp after landing in Tanzania and it was wonderful. Justin and Jackie are there to ensure the food (the best we experienced during our 2 weeks at various camps) and guides (thanks, Good Luck!) are tip top and everyone is happy, and they do a first rate job of it. Our tent was large and... More

This was a great camp for our first safari experience. Comfortable and well equipped lodge tents with indoor and outdoor showers, together with the all important after dark escort when moving around camp (the photos from the camp's night cameras were eye opening!) It's a slick operation and the managers were most convivial and worked hard to make the stay... More

We just returned from a 16 day safari in Tanzania and Kenya and we agreed that this was our favorite place to stay, along with Rekero Camp in Kenya, which is another Asilia Africa property. Justin and Jackie were the consummate hosts- helpful, informative, good humored and genuinely intent on making sure that all of the guests had everything they... More

We stayed at Little Oliver's Camp May 25-27, 2015. It was the best two nights of our 2-week safari. The camp host Julie was charming and welcoming. We enjoyed our fireside chats with her very much. The candlelit evenings were magical. Camp guide Kheto was absolutely brilliant. His depth of knowledge and keen eye for wildlife exceeded our high expectations.... More

This was the start of my safari and a great way to get acquainted with everything about the bush. The camp is really in the bush with animals around but that is what makes it so charming. The tents are very spacious and lovely to just spend time drinking in the atmosphere. The food was incredible considering you are in... More

excellent food both at dinner and breakfast. the communal feast was very tasty and the accompanying dinner was high-energy, but not too much. the "tent" we stayed at was also excellent with an indoor/outdoor shower and a comfortable/private deck area. the staff were very friendly and we particularly enjoyed watching the "night cam" video of visiting animals in the morning.... Starts at the top. The manager appears to be so bored there it is reflected in all his conversations and leadership. Staff excellent. He joins people for dinner but is just negative. Nice location but a little to "rustic" for us.

Everything is wonderful. The "tent" is more like a bungalow, the food incredible for the location, as well as managing the camp Jason and Jackie are up to greet the earliest guests for breakfast and stay with the dinner party until the last guest heads for their bed. The walking safari was the highlight of our stay in Africa. Lions... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Established by pioneer Paul Oliver in 1992 this camp is for safari enthusiasts wanting more than the postcard-snaps of the Big Five. Set in the secluded Tarangire National Park, it’s a camp that celebrates back-to-basics luxury in one of the most uncrowded corners of East Africa. Away from camp, Tarangire offers a wilderness experience that’s often lacking in the more famous reserves further north. Night drives, walking safaris and wilderness 'fly camps' are all on offer in this slice of untamed Tanzania, where some of the best guides in the business lead you through a corner of Africa that offers everything from herds of buffalo to forests of baobabs. At Oliver’s the 10 en-suite safari tents offer bush luxury without superfluous frills; the spacious outdoor shower perhaps the one extravagance you’ll happily allow. It’s a camp where the blood-red leather armchairs match the ochre soils beyond the decking; where headboards are hand-carved from African mahogany and baobab trees puncture the horizon from your private veranda. Come nightfall, little more than canvas separates your king-size bed from the restless wilderness beyond. Meals are taken communally at the main lodge, while around the campfire whiskies are poured and safari tales told late into the night. Little Oliver’s is built in complete harmony with the surrounding environment and guest accommodation consists of 5 expansive tents each with en-suite facilities, indoor and outdoor bucket showers and decks overlooking the herds of game that visit the Minyoyo Pools floodplain. Delicious meals and drinks are served under canvas in a spacious dining and relaxation tent. ... more   less
