Discover Africa, just as it should be. Oliver's Camp - in the remote southern reaches of Tarangire National Park - has just 10 beautifully appointed safari tents in a spectacular location close to the game-dense Silale Swamps and overlooking a flood plain of the Minyonyo Pools. Oliver's was inspired by the trailblazing camps that pioneered the early days of safari. It gives you direct access to the dense concentration of wildlife you will find year-round in this remote region, as well as the chance to enjoy walking safaris and fly camping. Oliver's is intimate and personal, staffed by a world-class team that has worked together for many years to perfect a safari experience that guests consistently rank among their best.

Oliver’s Camp has exceeded every expectation. From the moment you arrive you are greeted by a warm and friendly staff. The decor is top notch and unlike any other tented camp we have visited. The food is superb the view breathtaking. The newest addition a pool was an unexpected surprise! Daniel our host made sure we felt like family and the romantic candle lit dinners and breakfasts were the perfect touch to make this the perfect honeymoon spot!

We were welcomed to Oliver’s Camp with open arms, literally. The staff actually sang a song for us upon our arrival. Everyone and everything was fantastic. Daniel (manager) has a wonderful sense of humor that sets the tone for what’s to come - a great time. Everyone in his teams has a big smile and it’s genuine and infectious. Thank you Elizabeth for being such a sweet and attentive hostess. You were always looking out for us and made sure we were comfortable, and we want you to know that we really appreciated it. You are destined for a long and successful career in hospitality. Thank you Chef for creating Michelin-star quality meals for us and for fattening us up. Some of our best meals came from your kitchen. Thank you Keko for the most amazing game drives. We saw so many memorable thing with you. I remember that we even loved our first drive with you - which was actually just the pickup from the airport - hahaha - so much, that it was easy to forget we needed to checkin to the camp and have lunch. Hahaha. We really appreciated the style you brought to your drives. It’s as though the animals come to you and we just sit back and watch the party. I will never forget three things that you made possible. 1. The baby elephants interacting with their heard. I have so many videos of this and still can’t get enough. The babies are so cute and goofy - they just melt my heart. Tarangire really is elephant country and it’s nice to see them so healthy and happy here. 2. The baby lions playing with their extended pride family one day, and then licking a fresh kill the next day. Circle of life... 3. The leopard roar that scared me to death and almost caused me to “check the tire pressure”. Hahahah. It was also great getting to know you and learning that you are from Ololosokwan which is close to another lodge that we stayed at (Taasa) and to a Maasi Boma that we visited. It’s so cool that we met your beautiful tribe, and probably your neighbors and relatives too. I should also mention that the grounds and the room were super luxurious and comfortable. I personally loved the outdoor shower (2nd shower in the room). Thank you most especially to the lions for not attacking me when I showered. I heard one of you last night, so I know you were watching. :)

We were welcomed with song, slept in spacious cabins, open but private. One afternoon, we tried the outdoor shower, only to see an elephant right next to us! (We let him have the shower.) Morning wakeup, a soft tap, coffee and biscuits brought by Jessica. Our fantastic and experienced guide, Elisante, showed us every animal we'd dreamed of: lion, leopard, hyena, cheetah, of course elephants, giraffes, zebras and more. He arranged bush breakfast after early morning drives. We could not have asked for a better experience in Africa. So many glorious spots for an evening drink--the bar moved one night to the swimming pool just for the six of us-drinks by the fire, wonderful meals under the roof or in a grove of trees. Everything was arranged and made perfect by the staff, directed by Rosie. Our three generation family had a wonderful three night stay. The teens put down their phones and eagerly experienced everything on offer-night drive, walking safari, long days in the bush. It was a terrific experience. We had a double cabin and one family cabin--not a room with four beds, two full bedrooms and baths, quite luxurious for "camping". The clear, starry nights full of insect and animal calls lulled us to sleep. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful experience. I wish I could name every staff member who bent over backward to make our stay a joy. We loved our stay, and were genuinely sad to leave.

If you have only one memory of safari camps after your Tanzanian safari, it will most likely be of this camp if you're fortunate enough to stay here. It is small, intimate, and very comfortable in every way. Nothing is missing, lacking, or less than great. But your memory of it will not be so much of the camp itself, as of the entire staff who work here, who are all beyond amazing. If you have ever been fortunate enough to work in a real "team" environment, where every person has fully bought into the concept of working together as a team, you will instantly recognize what you will experience at Oliver's Camp. There is a difference between people who love their work, love and respect those they work with, as well as those they work to take care of, versus those who simply view their work as a job and do it. The staff at Oliver's Camp is very much the former and they set the bar for the quality of service you will receive and enjoyment of your visit very, very high. My sense during our all too brief visit was that Oliver's Camp is not one where just anybody can make the cut to work. It was more like an all star group, who responded to our every need quickly, professionally, and with obvious joy. All of the Asilia camps we stayed in during our two week safari were excellent, both the camps themselves and the staffs. But the staff at Oliver's take the gold!

From the moment we arrived with the whole-staff welcome song and a delightful lunch overlooking the beautiful pool area and savanna, we felt pampered. The lodge and tents are lovely and comfortable (indoor AND outdoor showers, long king sized beds). Most importantly, the safari experience was amazing. Having just come from the Serengeti, we thought it would be more of the same. We were so wrong. Far fewer people, up close viewings of lion kills, walking safari, night safari, it was all amazing and unique. Wonderful staff, amazingly knowledgeable guide, and beautiful setting. The highlight stay of our trip.

Oliver's camp was our favourite camp during our safari trip. Tarangire itself has a wealth of wildlife, you get to see so much which is wonderful. Our game driver, Augustino, was incredibly knowledgeable, great at spotting and made our drives with him a lot of fun. Every member of the team at the camp is warm and welcoming, the communal areas are all beautiful. In particular, we loved the main reception and dining area, and the breakfast area in the tree tops. It felt like a tree house! We were blown away by the food served up at the camp, it was truly exceptional even compared to other camps with great food. It really stood out to us and made coming back to the camp almost as exciting as heading out for the wildlife! The tents were clean and had great views. There's a stunning pool area. We wish we could visit again!

We stayed in 3 different camps on our safari in Tanzania and this was my favorite. It's well located in Tarangire National Park. Though less well known than the Serengeti, it has great mammals and even better birdwatching. The camp has beautiful views of a large field in which we could usually see elephants and often other mammals and exceptional service by all of the staff.

From the moment we arrived at Tarangire, we had a world-class wildlife viewing experience with elephants, giraffe, ostrich, lions and more. The scenery was interesting and varied, allowing for many different game drives with different animals. Oliver’s was a perfect home base- beautiful setting, great staff, food and accommodations, and ease of seeing lots of wildlife. We especially loved all the dikdiks (tiny antelope) and jackals near camp. It also was great for vegetarians. The chef and staff were very accommodating.
