#26 of 41 Specialty lodging in Tarangire National Park
Kirurumu Tarangire Lodge is built on the site of the old Tamarind Camp, in land we own and looking out on a flood plain that is seasonally a rich feeding ground for elephant and much else. It is bordering the park boundary, and is ideally situated being only 10 minutes off the main tarmac road and only 15 minutes drive from the main Tarangire park gate. There are 10 permanent tented cottages built in exactly the same style as the new Kirurumu Manyara Lodge cottages and the standards are the same high standards you have always been familiar with at Manyara.

I had stayed at this tented lodge in 2012, and found that a spectacular, spacious new dining/lounge pavilion had been built which overlooked the evening fire pit area and the grasslands beyond. The staff welcomes you on arrival with a glass of fresh juice and hot towels! The individual permanent tents are comfortable with ensuite facilities, beds with mosquito netting, and other amenities. All of the meals whether in the pavilion or boxed for lunch are delicious. The cream soups at dinner are amazing. The sounds at night and early morning of animals and birds are so special. The staff, including your Maasai escorts to and from the tents, are professional, and always smiling and willing to help with any request. Good wifi in the dining and reception areas. Charging stations for electronics in the tents. The lodge is a an hour or so from Arusha, so if your time is short this is a special place to stay. Traveling with Hoopoe Adventure Safaris through the Tarangire National Park made this the perfect accommodation for our 3 day stay. To finalize, I believe it is essential, during these unsettled times, to think about the future for the tourism, people and animals of this special place. Please try to plan for when it will be possible to travel again. Safari Njema.

A really friendly and interesting Lodge right by the game park , the “ tents” are very substantial and this is not camping ! The facilities were excellent, good shower and spacious room. The Masai escorting us to and from the dining area was a real pleasure and the footprints of buffalo in the morning reminded us of why we needed them .the breakfast was freshly prepared and excellent fruit and coffee. Packed lunches for the Safari were copious and varied with interesting options and minimal plastic being introduced. Evenings were delightful with a log fire burning to sit out and watch the sunset and listen to the different animal calls followed by an excellent supper with super friendly and attentive staff. We were there for 2 nights but would have loved longer as it was a really restful and interesting experience.

Our room (tent) overlooked the lake and surrounding area (Massai Veld) which was spectacular. Camp is situated on edge of Rift Valley. Very large camp and room was very spacious, very clean and all the basic needs met. Staff were excellent - helpful, always available, waited to walk you to dinner/reception. A wonderful experience and certainly one to be had if you can. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

We stayed one night in a lovely tented lodge with a huge comfortable bed, en suite facilities, looking out on the wilderness, antelope wandering by munching on the foliage, monkeys foraging in the tree opposite our veranda and, in the middle of the night, a small herd of elephants strolled past. Staff in the restaurant were very hospitable and the food was good. It was a treat to be escorted to our lodge at the end of the evening by a Masai tribesman. Perfectly quiet except for animal and insect noises, completely dark, it was magical.
