You will think your driver is lost. You will wonder what the heck kind of place will be waiting in the middle of the arid scrub. And then you will be wonderfully surprised. This was one of our favourite places on safari, totally different from everywhere else. It felt like glamping Victorian fashion, but not in an arrogant way. Great...

Whistling thorn camp is situated just outside the Tarangire National Park. We were surprised that our driver could find it as their were little discernible signs to indicate what lay among the thorn trees and dusty tracks. We were warmly welcomed by Edwin and his staff. The tented accommodation was lovely and the showers unique but surprisingly efficient. The food...

This was our favorite lodging of our entire trip. The tent was roomy and comfortable, the mattresses soft, and the showers piping hot and refreshing (which was not the case at other tented lodges we stayed at). We were welcomed with a Masai traditional song and dance, which was amazing to see. They lit a fire for us in the...

Loved Whistling Thorn! It was a bit of an adventure to find but that only added to our enjoyment of it. On arrival we were greeted by Edwin and taken to the dining tent/reception area for some cool juice and hot towels while he went over how the camp worked. Then we were shown to our tent which was perfect....

We stayed here in early November 2013. There were only 4 of us at the camp, so the experience was very quiet and personal. Good solid tents (though we had better in a couple places). Bathroom worked reasonably well (which did not occur everywhere in tented camps). At this camp though, it really stood out because the staff was outstanding....

We only were able to spend one night at the Whistling Thorn Tent camp outside of Tarangire Park, we wish we could have stayed longer. We were the only guests and we were treated wonderfully. The camp was very clean, the accomodations were very comfortable and the people were very friendly. We had a fabulous dinner and very good breakfast....

Our first night on Safari, our first tented camp, and Whistling Thorn did not disappoint. Clean tents, comfortable beds for the three of us - the zipper to the "ensuite" bathroom facilities was in need of some repair, as were the mosquito screens in the tent. However, we had nets over each bed, coils, flashlights, bottled water - all the necessities....

This tented camp is close to Tarangine Camp. You can enjoy the wilderness! Nice people and a great place to enjoy the nature. We only stayed for one night, but it was a great experience. You have to order your hot shower, because there is no hot water. In the evening you can sit at the fire and drink a...

First advantage it is very close to Tarangire National Park which is a special place, and the camp has a real bush feel,we saw a hyena on the edge of the camp on our first night The tents are very clean and nice beds, but mosquito net would have been a bonus, plus coils. The bathroom was an attached tent so felt to be...
