An absolute fantastic location. Paul was a fantastic guide for isandlwana and rorkes drift battlefield sites. We had a lovely home cooked meal at an extra charge. We arrived in a Hyundai civic caught a few rocks on the way but arrived ok you just need to r take your time.
A place of extraordinary beauty and real Africa. Stunning scenery and peace. Accommodation feels like being transported back to days of Empire...very special atmosphere. Special Thank you to Paul for a wonderful battlefield tour day.
Beautiful nature, beautiful people and a place to call home for 2 nights, that was Rorke's Drift Lodge, home of Paul and Christine Lamberth. Our SUV vehicle handled the magical 5km 'road' with no issues, sensible driving will get you there and the slow drive can be bountiful as we saw many birds and mammals en route. Very friendly welcome by the ladies/staff and it was a delight to learn from Paul that this is a local consortium in the making. The fine people here are actually taking on leading roles, with Paul and Christine there to offer support. So peaceful, so tranquil this was our paradise, the chance to unwind after a very long flight and drive. We pre-ordered our meals and our battlefields tour with Paul, the food was so delicious brought to our chalet/room, a chalet that was spacious, clean and very safe. Beautiful surrounds to explore, plenty of birdlife, flowers, shrubs- the perfect retreat. Well stocked mini bar, nothing was too much of a problem and two great nights sleep. The excellent battlefields tour the next day it was sad to leave on the Tuesday. Thank you to everyone, a blissful abode, beautiful artwork to admire(Christine's own), a high point to saviour.…
Rorke's Drift Lodge is a wonderful, relaxing place to stay. However it is remote and the drive is along a dirt track, we had wished we'd hired a 4X4 instead of a small car. However our small car did manage to get in and out. Our room was amazing and the service was wonderful. The view and sounds at night were very memorable. We had an amazing tour of the Battlefield and Rorke's Drift which I will always remember. We loved our stay and would happily return.
Once we had navigated the road (please make sure you have good clearance), we loved our little lodge with pleasant living room, bedroom and super bathroom. The views were beautiful. The food cooked by the delightful Umbali (hope I have spelt your name correctly) was delicious and served with a smile. The Lodge is very isolated so you need to either order your food in advance or bring your own. We booked a Battlefields tour with the owner, Paul Lamberth, which I would advise as not only is he an excellent knowledgeable tour guide, he takes you in his car which saves driving up and down the track again. A great and memorable off grid experience.
