Hubby and I went to Gatlinburg for our anniversary in June. I hadn't written any reviews of our trip this time (we've been going for years), but decided I needed to put my two cents worth in after reading some reviews. We love Mtn House and don't stay anywhere else. Room was clean-and ready a little before 1:00 check in unlike last 2 visits-and always meets our needs. People who complain about the place being dated and a little worn would also complain about the rate increase that would be necessary to update the motel. People who complain about the outside noise are the same people who love how convenient it is to everything! When you stay in the middle of an always crowded tourist destination you're going to get some noise. If you don't like it, pay for one of the 100's of overpriced rooms available in Gatlinburg and then you can gripe about the price and distance from most attractions (and finding parking). For me this place is perfect and the price and location can't be beat!

We have stayed here before and really only returned because of the price and location. It is conveniently close to the main strip with the Aquarium and Anakeesta only two to three blocks away. Staff was friendly during check-in and were eager to help. Aside from this this motel is as cheap as it gets. Place is very old and hasn't been updated in a long time. The carpet in our room was stained and old. Furniture was old, torn, and very outdated. Bathroom was very old and in certain parts moldy. We immediately removed the bed covers and used the ones from home. Microwave and refrigerator were functional. There was almost no light in the room so it was very dark. Overall, we have no plans to return. Honestly, they really should update/renovate urgently, especially the bed sheets and covers and the carpet.

Pros: Great location
Clean bedding
Clean towels
Bathroom clean
Cons: Carpet VERY dirty
Killed 5 roaches in tub
Had coffee in our room, but no pot, and it
Wasn’t instant coffee.
Small pool had green algae in it.
Larger pool looked ok for swimming, just
Needed a lot of maintenance.
No cleaning service during your stay, so if you
Need clean towels you leave your dirty ones
Outside by your door, and they leave clean
Ones.
Im not the type of person who needs luxury. It was very outdated , which didnt bother me at all. You get what you pay for. As i stated, the location is excellent, and bedding was clean.Just make sure you wear socks or shoes at all times, and bring bug spray

When we checked in the lady at the desk told us she up graded our room to a big room but we couldn’t use the jet tub in the room because it leaks to the next floor. Which suck but we thought that’s ok. Well then we get in the room and there’s dirty towels still hanging on the hooks and the room looked dirty. We also found out that the refrigerator didn’t work so when I told the man at the front desk about it he got and attitude with me and said I guess I’ll have to call someone. Which he never did. So we pretty much figured out we got up graded to a crappy room that they wouldn’t be able to rent out. Never again will we stay at this dump.

Do not stay here, especially if you have asthma or any other respiratory conditions.
When we arrived, we were greeted with a very damp, musty stench in the room. From there we came to find the room was barely cleaned, if at all. There were crumbs and garbage seemingly swept under furniture and bed skirts. The room was very poorly lit and I think the housekeeping was using that to their advantage. The air conditioner until was disgusting and dusty, which caused my wife's asthma to flair up. The bathroom had mold in the tub and around the window. Sheets on the beds were stained and yellow in color, pillows were also stained.
To top it all off, when we went to tell the front desk about it, the worker simply took my card and refunded my money, leaving us without a place to stay. Honestly, she probably did us a favor.
I understand you get what you pay for, but this wasn't just cheap or outdated, it was outright gross and hazardous.

This place is a no-go on so many things. First impression walking in the door. A rip shower curtain providing a barrier from Covid. I stepped up to the counter and was made to feel like I was a burden to the older woman behind the curtain. Once we arrived in the room there was a musty dirty marijuana smell that you could tell they were trying to cover with cleaner. They hadn’t used that to actually clean anything because the room was filthy. Literally dirt in the bathtub and bathroom floor. Probably the carpet too but you couldn’t tell because it was so dark and dingy. When I went to the front desk to return my keys and say we couldn’t stay there a different person was working. They refunded my money without me even having to ask but that’s where the conversation turned south. I went on to explain to the man why we couldn’t stay there (in case they may want to correct the situation). I was told “this is an old hotel” and “things are different in the world now it’s not our fault” To the Mountain House staff… please walk across the street to Jack Huffs and take note of how they’re running their “old hotel”.

Located close to Downtown Gatlinburg. Clean Room. WiFi is not secure and very limited TV Channels. (ESPN did not work). Very noisy on 2 of three nights spent there. No night security at this Inn. Caused 2 nights to very little sleep.

It's a wonderful location - easy to walk to everything Gatlinburg without being right on the strip. Beyond that, it doesn't have much going for it. The staff made me feel like a burden, the room wasn't very clean, the hot water ran out, and the beds weren't the best. If you're looking for a "home base" for Gatlinburg, I'd keep looking. But if you want an inexpensive place to simply rest your head - then you've found what you need!

Easy walking to where the actions are. dated motel but clean and comfortable. reasonable price has queen beds (which is a plus). small restroom with low toilet (plush slow) but is OK. minimum amenities to use (I think not every day room cleaning. I stayed 2 days and the 2nd day not cleaning, however if you asked for, the towels will be replaced with fresh one). I ma OK with that because I do not want the room access any way. very decent place. will come back again.

Our go to place in Gatlinburg. We always enjoy our stay. Great location, better people, checked in on us to make sure we were ok during the flood, upgraded our room because of the length of our stay. Gave us advice on where to eat and what night to go for better deals. Stayed 7 nights and hated to leave.

Gatlinburg is going to be opened back up Friday. The phone land lines are still down in most areas. Unfortunately you may not be able to call and ask someone till then, the reservation would still be good though...I haven't heard of any damage (had to at least be some smoke clean up). If you want to play it safe Pigeon Forge is up and running close to usual People unfortunately have been canceling a lot because of fear or, thinking Pigeon Forge is also closed down...

There is one pool that splits the large parking lot and one at the far end of the building. If you have a room on the first floor the largest pool is a few steps away. If you are on the second floor you overlook the pool. It is a long motel so not every room has a pool view.
