We are a 9-room motel and full-service restaurant in beautiful Baker, Nevada. Just steps away from Great Basin National Park, you will be ideally located to enjoy the many attractions of the park and surrounding region. With one of the darkest night skies in the country, this is an excellent area for stargazing. The park offers astronomy lectures and telescope viewings 3 nights per week in the summer. The park also features limestone caves and bristlecone pine trees that live over 4,000 years old. Baker is also a perfect stop over if you are driving or biking through the great American West. Nevada's stretch of Highway 50 is called The Loneliest Road in America. For hundreds of miles you will likely see more mountain peaks than cars. Come see us at the Stargazer Inn and Kerouac's - opening spring of 2017!

The room was large and clean. The area was very dusty so we appreciated the extra efforts to keep the room clean. Check in at the Bristlecone General Store and check out their delicious selection of gelato.

A cute little motel to rest at the foot of Great Basin National Park. Quaint, rustic little spot. The owner has such an amazing ambiance next to the only store in town. I felt like I was transported in time to 100 years ago in the Wild West. All we needed to get a good night rest, hot shower, tasty morsel and a panoramic clear night sky. Ill stay here again if im ever in this remote part of the world.

First it is so convenient to GBNP. We stayed the night before then hiked the glacier trail. Second, it was a really nice room, spacious for my family of four with two teens. The pull out trundle was perfect for our kiddos. Solid climate control, good shower, plenty of hot water, and park right in front of your room. Third, owners are very responsive via email so made booking very simple. Best of all it’s so peaceful and quiet. Drove out a mile out of town and just was in awe of all the stars. Again a super cozy and comfortable stay. Can’t wait to plan the next trip.

We booked a stay at Stargazer Inn for memorial day weekend. At the time we made our reservation we could select our room and we selected room 1. When we checked in we were given room 9 which is not connected to the original property. The original space has 6 rooms. Our room was in a clean, shed like building two blocks away. The room came with a microwave and fridge (see picture) but the walls are very thin and I could hear Sesame street at 6am from the adjoining room. The restaurant (Kerouacs) with the property is no more and now has a general store. Food was an unexpected issue. Everyone on staff was incredibly kind and helpful. It was a little frustrating to not have the original charming room we thought we booked and end up behind a gad station. I also wish we had brought food with us. There are not many other options on Baker. Would I stay there again? Yes. But I would confirm room type if that is important and come prepared with extra snacks etc.

We stayed one night as part of a visit to Great Basin. Host/staff were friendly and helpful before and during visit. We stayed in one of the rooms at the gas station. It does not sound like a great location, but there was beautiful scenery all around, There was a table and chairs both in front of our building and behind; behind was perfect to have our evening meal which we had wisely brought with us. At night, the stars were spectacular. Inside the cabin was comfortable for the three of us. The toilet and tub (clean but in need of regrouting) are in their own room. The kitchen sink does double duty as a bathroom sink and does have a fairly bright light and mirror over it. There are dishes and utensils, a microwave and sink. Our room was clean and charming and had a queen bed and trundle bed, both fairly comfortable. Linens and towels were nice. Be aware that there is limited hot water; both other rooms in our building were inhabited, and we could not get any hot water when we wanted to shower. When we tried later, it was plentiful. The General Store is small but nice with good coffee. The main restaurant in town was not open the day we came, so we were glad we brought dinner. We would definitely stay here again and enjoyed its charm and location.

Very small little hotel/motel very close to the Great Basin National park which was exactly what was needed. Room was very small but just right and very clean and comfortable. Owner was very helpful and ran a little shop that stocked anything you would need.

We chose this hotel after canceling at a fancier place that requires a long drive from Great Basin Natl Park incl 7 miles of dirt road. This place is very convenient to the Park. It’s under new ownership and the restaurant is closed but the general store has a selection of fresh and frozen food so we easily made supper in our room. This was the first hotel in 17 days to supply genuine glassware and china and silverware. Our room (#10 behind the gas station) had a double bed but also a trundle bed. It was tiny but so well equipped we could have comfortably stayed a week. We would definitely stay here again if we’re in the area.

We stayed at the Stargazer Inn for one night after hiking and exploring in Great Basin National Park. The room was clean and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and shower hot. We appreciated the clock which showed Pacific time, because our mobile phones reflected Mountain time as Baker is so close to the Utah border. There are 2 locations for the Inn and we stayed at the one right by the gas station. We liked our room a lot, the only minor issue was the view from the room was a gas station. We loved the Bristlecone General Store is worth the visit. Interesting books to check out, lots of games to play, food to purchase. We were able to enjoy a beer after our time in the National Park. I would definitely stay here again. Just be sure to make reservations early and if you want to see Lehman Caves get your ticket well ahead of time.

What a gem, 5 miles from the Lehman Caves Visitor Center at Great Basin National Park in Baker, Nevada, a town of about 100 people. It was very, very quiet during my stay although a wild windstorm blew through and took the power of the entire town with it for about 8 hours, mostly overnight. But it didn't matter because Liz welcomed my company and the other guests in her general store, which is right next to and basically a part of the Stargazer Inn. We all hung out by candlelight for hours and really enjoyed passing the time. My room was spotless and smelled great. Even the shampoo, hand soap and body gel were great. Prices in the general store were more than fair, basically the same I'd pay for the exact same products at home, which surprised me considering the remoteness of the area. No restaurants were open in Baker during my stay, but breakfast up at the Visitor Center cafe was absolutely terrific - so much so I enjoyed it both days I was there. The food selections in the General Store were also fabulous and more than met all of my needs for hiking and being out the entire day. I'd definitely stay here again, and I just might because the road to Wheeler Peak was closed for most of the 16 miles due to snow and I didn't get to see any Bristlecone Pines during my visit. Lehman Caves were fabulous - definitely make your reservations as early as possible online because the tours sell out every single day.

My husband & I spent two nights at the Stargazer Inn, while exploring Great Basin National Park. The rooms are basic, with a bed, tv, decent bathroom. But the best part of visiting this inn was the FOOD! The restaurant, Kerouac's, prepared some of the best food I have ever tasted. It's a tiny place, with seating both inside & out. We opted to sit outside both nights that we were there. The menu is not extensive, but what they do serve is really good. I cannot say enough about this gem. Baker, Nevada consists of a few buildings, with very few options for dining. I would drive a hundred miles out of my way to enjoy their food again.
