We traveled in November so the town was mostly shut down. Stargazer has about 8 rooms, all quite small. Our unit 7 had a narrow bathroom and a roll-away heater which we needed due to the low temps and drafty door. The power went out at 6AM so we just packed up and left. The proximity to Great Basin N.P. is a plus. The nearest restaurant Nov-winter is about six miles away at the border.
We stayed one night here in room 8 which is one of three new units 2 minutes walk from the main hotel reception. It is on the edge of a parking lot which also has services for RVs. but the 3 units are not in with them. Table and chairs, 1 other easy chair, table and chairs outside also. A/c, fridge, m/wave, TV en suite, kitchen sink, good storage. Nice and quiet as Baker is very quiet.
Nice place in the middle of nowhere We stayed in annex one eighth mile down the road Not fancy but Clean Had our meals a nice walk down road to the one restaurants in town All was great in Baker nevada
What a sweet experience! The inn is associated with a truly great restaurant, Kerouac's, and is cozy, hip, reasonably priced, and pet-friendly. We took a one-night break from camping on a big road trip because the temps were going down into the 20s and got a rare Monday night room at the Stargazer. It was a short walk from the restaurant and office, near a gas station, but a super cute, clean, retro-70s motel room. Great shower, hot water, comfortable, clean and cute bedroom, fridge, coffee maker, etc. And let's not even start about the restaurant, when you've been camping or eating typical "road food." Kerouac's has a simple menu but is one of the best meals I've had.
The young owners have done a good job with trying to revitalize this motel. We had room 4 right next to the office. The bedding was super soft and comfortable. The lovely hand soap and shampoo was a nice touch. The office manager was lovely and showed me where I could let my dog run. Yes, they allow dogs!! :) The restaurant, Kerouac’s is phenomenal. We had dinner there and breakfast the next day and took pastries to go. We did not have a hairdryer in our room. Not sure if this was an oversight or they just don’t provide them , but I feel that is something that should be provided. Overall it was a lovely stay.
