This hotel is poorly run and tremendously understaffed. I never saw a manager and the attitudes of the employees were really poor. We had a nice view from the third floor of the lake but it's a walk to get there. Room was dingy. Carpet needed cleaning in the room and hallways. Breakfast is free but pretty limited, continental with... More

Always love visiting grand Marais and have stayed here before many years ago while snowmobiling. It has really gone downhill! First, they are so understaffed, can't get rooms turned around, we waited 1 hr past promised check-in @4, even given keys to our room and it was still dirty! Spacious rooms, nice linens but carpet filthy, tv from the 70's.... More

The location is great! Walking distance to downtown Grand Marais. The decor is dated and the pool area was okay. The staff at the check in were quite unprofessional and rude working with me and in dealing with others- I observed this a few times during our stay. Breakfast consisted of donuts from the World's Best Donut shop. I give... More

Price quoted for active military was NOT honored. Too late to find another place. Rooms had stains all over the carpet and the mattresses had stains on the sides...cannot imagine what they looked like. Pool area was a mess. Continental breakfast was a joke. Way over priced...go elsewhere.

The room we got was about 50 feet from a major highway. No air conditioning, so windows had to be open. NOISY! We asked to switch rooms away from the road for the next night. They agreed, but when we came back, they had sold the room. Don't go here!

Rooms are not that nice, needs some updating. They seemed understaffed as they complained about not having rooms cleaned and whatnot. Rooms are really outdated with old comforters and an old Sanyo RCA tube tv. Our ac did not work at all, or at least not well, and was really uncomfortable in the heat. Pool area was about 95 degrees... More

Basic room with no frills, but good enough for a short overnight stay during our Minnesota waterfall tour. Rooms have basic small fridge. Air conditioners are very old & not very efficient. We ended up opening our windows because it was cooler outside. Beds were comfortable & clean. Did provide a very basic breakfast, toast, bagels, cereal, muffins, coffee, milk... More

The Aspen Inn offered affordable lodging however seemed very outdated and unclean. On one occasion I returned to my room with the beds completely stripped. The front desk agent was very unapproachable and seemed to blame all of the problems on the guests. At one point the key to my room was no longer working and she blamed me! If... More

Great location on HiWay 61. Clean comfortable rooms, awesome pool and deck, excellent positive staff and a great breakfast. Deserves its high rating. Travelled with 4 grand kids and the extra room was wonderful,

I think the price is a little steep since the rooms are not up to date at all. It was nice to have 3 beds. Just stay away from the reception area rooms. We had the very first room from the front desk and the room was fine it's just the door, right next to our room,to go upstairs/downstairs slammed... More
