A great last stop before your entry into the real great outdoors. Staff are very attentive to help and answer any questions. Breakfast was delicious and it’s service was quick and professional. So many activities on site, hoping Clearwater stays around for another 100 years!
We are repeat guests at Clearwater Historic Lodge and are already looking forward to next year’s visit. Excellent staff that makes your stay so enjoyable. We do believe the number one staff member is the baker who made our blueberry pie! We stay in the Lodge so breakfast is included. Friends visited us while we were there so we entertained them on the large porch looking at the Lake and listening to loons. Thanks again Clearwater staff and see you next year.
My wife and I did an overnight in Charlie's room then departed for BWCA the next day. This was our first time using Clearwater's outfitting services. The accommodations were very nice and the outfitting services were first rate.
We staying in Cabin #8 for a week in June and absolutely loved it. We loved the full kitchen, dock going out to Clearwater Lake and the opportunity to start our daily canoe excursions right from our cabin. We will definitely put this on the list to return! Thank you so very much!!
I have wanted to paddle the BWCA Wilderness since I was in high school but was always nervous -- bugs, haven't camped for decades, no gear, etc. Finding Clearwater and their knowledgeable outfitter/guide, Erik, was a game-changer. We booked a fully outfitted 4 day guided trip and said we wanted a taste for what the BWCA had to offer - fishing, swimming, canoeing, the views, camping, portaging, relaxing, etc. We had an early dinner in Grand Marais before heading to the lodge where we were met by friendly staff who greeted us and welcomed us to spend the evening on the Lodge porch and then showed us the quick path to Bunkhouse 1. The porch had a nice view of the lake and was a great spot to enjoy a glass of wine, play a board game and visit with a few other guests. The bunkhouse accommodations were just what we needed after a long car ride and a great transition into the wilderness. The next morning included a delicious breakfast (we chose blueberry scones, thick sliced bacon and scrambled eggs) and then we met Erik at the outfitting post. He gave us two options for our guided trip and then we started packing up (i.e., put our clothes into packs instead of duffel bags). He had everything set and ready, even the meals. Off we went to our family adventure! We had an AMAZING time and were thankful to have good weather and such a friendly, helpful and knowledgeable guide with us. When we arrived back at Clearwater, we had an ice cold beverage "cheers" and a hot shower "ahhhh!". We couldn't have asked for a better first time BWCA experience and will be telling anyone who listens how great the Clearwater Historic Lodge and Outfitter is.…
