We have stayed at The Moose every year for the last seven years. It ain't the fanciest, nor the roomiest. But the rooms are clean, and regularly updated. The location is perfect, and the hosts are wonderful people. Your hosts Billy and Danielle, as well as the couple who owned it before them, make all the difference when choosing this 1950's vintage motel. Character, charm and great hosts beat out luxury or cookie-cutter accommodations. Highly recommended

Heading to the North Shore of Minnesota? Grand Marais is a perfect base from which to explore the region. The Mangy Moose Motel is centrally located - an easy walk to anywhere in town. But that's not the best part. The rooms are clean, fresh, comfortable and quiet. They capture the feeling of a northwood's cabin. Each room has its own entrance. The internet works great, water quality and pressure are both excellent. Bill and Danielle (owners) are friendly, accessible and responsive if you should need anything. Their commitment to protecting guests from the Covid pandemic was reassuring. We will be back.

Contactless check in was incredibly easy. Bill and Danielle were excellent hosts, providing solid hiking recommendations. The location is a 2 minute walk to Grand Marais restaurants and shops. I needed a comfortable, convenient spot to escape the city for a few days of hiking, and the moose absolutely filled

Our second stay here was as good as our first. It’s a great set-up with all a travelor needs. Grand Marais attractions are just around the corner. As older adults we were also grateful for their Covid approach that made us feel safe.
