This is a beautiful lodge with character and jaw dropping history. It takes you back to a time when families stayed, played, and laughed together. We saw generations eating, playing card games, and skipping stones together in the quiet of the evening. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The dining is picturesque and very nice. We took a stroll after... More

I went up with my family for a long-weekend and loved it. It was so nice to have a room without a tv, wifi, etc. We were forced to have fun together! The staff were overly friendly and helpful. Sitting in the solarium with all the other guests, playing games, drinking tea, etc. was fantastic. I would highly recommend this... More

It is truly a gem that one must see. I had the salmon and my friend had a steak neither of us thought our food was worth the price but we enjoyed the atmosphere. We'd both come back for tea or dessert if bringing guests otherwise we have seen it. We sat on the shores in adirondack chairs waiting for... More

The lodge is right on Lake Superior. Didn't miss electronics because of bonfires on the beach, games and puzzles in the game room, hiking across the street at the state park. The dining room is wonderfully arty and campy at the same time and the food was excellent. The staff is attentive and there is always coffee available!

This was our first visit to Naniboujou after seeing pictures of the Lodge and dinning room and trip reports for years, and we were not disappointed. We stayed in the fire place room (burns real wood), with beautiful Lake views. The room was super clean and roomy. The dinning room is original to the late 20's and is spectacular with... More

They have the potential to be a wonderful place but don't quite get there. I will admit we arrived early in the season and it is possible they could improve as all the new staff gets up to speed. This is a very old hotel and the owners are trying to make it a quiet peaceful place to go and... More

I stayed at Naniboujou Lodge for a couple night in late June 2016. After seeing a photo of its colorful dining room a few years earlier, it had become my desire to check out this wonderful place. Bonnie, the wonderful lady at the front desk when I checked in, was very pleasant and helpful and gave me tips on where... More

We did an overnight on our way to Grand Portage to complete our Global Entry. The serenity and attention to detail was wonderful. Our room was perfect and we had a comfortable sleep number bed. The solarium and dining room both were exquisite and our breakfasts of the wild blueberry pancakes and hiker omelet with salmon was super! We hope... More

We had an all-too-short one night stay at the Naniboujou Lodge and will definitely be back! Our little room had two twin beds (with absolutely lovely hand-quilted bedspreads from an Amish woman in Iowa and her two daughters - there was a little plaque on each bed with the info), a dresser from the original 1920s clubhouse, two chairs and... A step back to when times were less complicated and enjoying the property and it's surroundings was eventful and occupied most of ones day. A walk on the expansive beach, skipping countless rocks on the water. Relaxing by a warm beach fire on a cool evening. Swimming in the Brule river or searching for agates and colorful stones. Driftwood collectors... More
