My niece and I were traveling from Alberta to Ontario in early October 2021 by car with her dog, so required a pet-friendly motel/hotel. We thought for the price the Wyndham Travelodge in Thunder Bay would be decent. It wasn't. The room had a tiny window located up high, near the ceiling, because the main AC unit was located just outside the window. There were live bugs crawling past dead bugs on the nightstand between the beds, the air conditioner was blowing dust into the cobwebs in the ceiling/corner of the room, there was gum crushed into the carpet in several spots, the shelves were falling apart, the walls had never been wiped down and were riddled with stains, and it smelled awful. We were afraid to touch anything. They provided disposable cups, but they were just sitting out, not wrapped in plastic, and were coated with dust. Covid protocols? I doubt it. It was absolutely disgusting. The mini-fridge was clearly an afterthought to say they had fridges in the room. It was located on the floor, directly on the carpet, with a mess of extension cords so it could be plugged in. Something had been spilled onto the carpet at some point and was never cleaned. No surprise, the fridge barely worked (my niece has medication that needs to be refrigerated so this was a concern). We got out as fast as we could. We were also concerned the car would be broken into in the parking lot. Also the pool was unavailable for mechanical reasons but there was no decrease in rate. To be fair, after seeing the room, you couldn't pay me enough to risk going in. Likely we weren't being given a better room because we had a dog with us, but our dog was cleaner than anything in that room.…
This room was dirty, items were broken, phone didn't work and internet connection was terrible. I was hoping that due to the name and recognition it would be a nice place to stay. Location is great and desirable.
It's a low budget hotel. I got pretty much what I expected. The room was clean. I liked the fact that I had a microwave and working refrigerator. Good bed. Air conditioning worked great. My biggest issue was that they did not have any ice for the guests. After a long day of very hot sightseeing, it is not fun to come back to a room where you can't even have a cold glass of water. There was a sign at the front desk that said "Ice machine is broken." I stayed there for three nights and it was never fixed while I was there. The sign itself looked more or less permanent. I don't think they intend to fix the machine. Bummer!
Staff was very nice. Good vibes end there. 100+ degrees and a/c was not working. Bathroom - toilet seat was cracked and filthy in the cracks. Fridge was warm - would not put food in it. Furniture falling apart. We tried to stay there for about an hour and told the staff we could not sleep in that room. He tried to change our room - bug in the tub, a/c slightly cooler, but inadequate. Still gross. This place is way past it's prime and should be demolished. Nothing appealing or comfortable here. Found a room across the street and for $35-40 more we had a nice, clean fresh room, clean beds and a great buffet breakfast. Worth every dime.
The room was large but empty. Bathroom not clean, tile in shower had mold, bathtub stained and no stopper for sink. Peeling wallpaper, chipped paint on door and door frame and general stains on walls made the bathroom very unpleasant. No ice bucket or coffee setup in room, but they were provided when I asked for them at front desk. Breakfast items ran out quickly, we got last 2 bagels. Utensils and additional baked goods were brought only after asked for.
