We reviewed about 30 lodges/outfitters and chatted with 10. This was to be our trip of a lifetime and we really wanted the best experience. When we chatted with Curtis at Glacier Bay Country Inn we were totally impressed. He answered every question and even told us to avoid one of the options for a side trip. He helped us with every aspect of the trip from airline, credit cards to use and how to plan return trip to keep any fish we caught frozen! When we arrived we were very impressed with the facility, especially the new dining area. The family did the remodel themselves, even milling the huge log support timbers! The food was excellent with a fish/seafood entre option and a red meat option for each dinner. Breakfast was the best way to start a day. The chef and kitchen staff were very friendly and efficient! We took the 2 day saltwater fishing and a boat tour of Glacier Bay National Park option. The charter captain was a young man that could not have been more accomodating and was wise beyond his years in the fishing industry. He filleted the fish and GB Country Inn packed them for shipping home. This trip exceeded our expectations. While we thought this would be our trip of a lifetime, after our experience at Glacker Bay Country Inn, I can see us planning one more trip of a lifetime with them!

Trip of a lifetime! For my 50th birthday my wife and I decided to fulfill my dream of an Alaskan Fishing trip. We did the four night cabin stay at the Glacier Bay Country Inn, with three days of salt water fishing. The King and Halibut fishing was better than expected. Luke the boat captain, made sure the Halibut we kept were as close to the limit as possible. The Ivory Kings were a bonus catch I will probably never match. This meant full days of catching numerous fish in the process of finding our perfect keepers. After each long and prosperous day of fishing we sat down to a dinner meal better than most 5 star restaurants. Chef John prepared amazing dishes for each meal and was okay with me sneaking in early in the morning for one of his delicious handmade pastries or donuts. Curtis was there serving every role from chauffeur, bell boy, concierge to all around host. This family run business truly meets or exceeds every dream and desire one can think of when it comes to an all-inclusive Alaskan Trip. The property is beautiful, well-kept and there was always wildlife to observe there on site. I'm not big on rating my trips, but this one was so far above my expectations I had to share. I now plan to make it an annual trip and take each of my four kids one at a time for the next four years. Worth every penny and then some.

Curtis and his team do a superb job of looking after their guests - nothing is too much trouble. The chef, in particular, went out of his way to help us make s'mores in the evening or to offer us bespoke omelette options at the buffet lunch. The lodge has a very excellent rec room with shooting arcade games, a luxury home theater, board games, basketball pop-a-shot and more. The excursions that Curtis can arrange and advise you on were, for us, all top notch and exceeded our hopes. The cabins themselves are functional but you are in the middle of the most spectacular wilderness around, which dominates the experience. Hiking around the property through moss forests and under a tall rain forest canopy is also a real treat. We had a superb stay.

Curtis and staff were all so friendly and helpful to see that all guests were well taken care of and Chef Jon’s meals were to die for. The fish I caught were packaged and frozen on site for trip home. Can’t say enough good about Glacier Bay Country Inn, highly recommended

My kayaking companions & I stayed 2 nights before our 8-day kayak trip & 1 night after our trip was done. Curtis Lindblom & the entire staff went well beyond our expectations for making us feel welcome & well taken care of. Our accommodations were very comfortable - we stayed in the lodge for 2 nights & in a cabin 1 night. The property is located on a large parcel of land with lush meadows and forest. We enjoyed using their bikes to ride to the ferry terminal for a walk along the beach. Curtis went out of his way to shuttle us back & forth from the airport as well as to our outfitter's orientation. I would highly recommend staying at Glacier Bay Country Inn if you are planning a trip to Glacier Bay/Gustavus. Thanks to all you good folks & hope our paths cross again. Mary Strickroth

Incredible staff! Curtis does an amazing job running the lodge. He sets up all excursions for you and the cost includes all meals and transfers so you literally just arrive and relax-they handle everything! Coming back to the hot tub and fire pit at the end of every day is just wonderful, and the game room is so much fun! They’ve just renovated the dining room. It has amazing floor to ceiling windows overlooking the huge meadow where bears and moose walk nearly every day! They’re also adding a gorgeous fireplace to the dining room and porch out back overlooking the meadow! You’ll be so glad you chose Glacier Bay Country Inn!

I just returned home from GBCI and I can honestly say that I'm sad to go. I stayed two nights in the lodge and three nights in a cabin with my dad and two brothers. The lodging is great and the staff are very accommodating. To ask for more than they deliver would simply be unreasonable. Thanks to all the staff who remembered our drink preferences and had them at our table at dinner time, who brought drinks and ice to our room without being asked, specially packed our fish, shuttled us around on trips to the store etc. etc. Everyone at GBCI made my family fishing trip extra special.
Then there's the food...you'll be well fed. Dinners are gourmet and breakfasts offer a variety of great food to get your day started. In my case, lunches were packed to take fishing and include a sandwich, chips, fresh cookies, a fruit, small candy bar, granola bar, condiments and a box of donuts. It only took a single day for boat captains to figure out that my group was staying at GBCI as they obviously covet the donuts.

Beginning with a warm greeting at the airport, our group of seven enjoyed a fantastic family adventure. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious, tucked into the wilderness right outside of Glacier Bay National Park. Curtis arranged our fishing and site-seeing activities, all of which were great, notwithstanding some rainy weather. The outstanding staff served full daily breakfasts, which featured traditional fare, along with fresh fruit and warm baked treats. The Lodge packed full, tasty lunches for us every day and then presented a fantastic three-course dinner every evening, featuring delightful entrees such as dungeness crabs, bbq ribs and salmon. More fresh baked bread, with soup or salad, led off each evening and we finished with decadent desserts. My favorite was profiteroles. Besides the magical location, the friendly and attentive staff made our visit even more special. We cannot wait to return. Many thanks to Curtis and his entire team.

If you’re looking for a private experience that is personalized to your family or group, this is the place for you. From the inquiry stage to completing our visit, we were provided exceptional response to any question or need. We were communicated with by phone, email or website with responses provided in a timely manner to any question whether a first time visitor or a frequent Alaska vacationer. There were several room options with a variety of pricing. Our primary focus was to fish, but we also went on a tour to see a glacier, canoed, and went on a whale watching tour. While at the lodge we saw bear, bear cubs, black Wolfe, and a number golden eagles. Not far from the lodge we saw a moose. Their staff went above and beyond to ensure every person in our party was having an enjoyable experience tailored to our interests. The food was exceptional provided by a chef and their Inn staff. See reviews for the restaurant. I would highly recommend Glacier Bay Country Inn.

Husband and I stayed 4 days this week. We halibut and salmon fished 2 days and toured Glacier Bay one day too.
Glacier Bay Country Inn is in a spectacular natural setting. Bears and wolves are frequently spotted behind the beautiful dining room overlooking a long meadow.
We stayed in a small cozy cabin for two, and other guests stayed either in the main lodge or in other various sized cabins to accommodate different group sizes.
The buildings and grounds are wonderful.
This is an all inclusive lodge. All meals are provided and the food is wonderful. There are always 2 choices for 1st course and main course in the evenings after you come back from fishing or activities.
You are provided delicious bag lunches for days away.
The lodge is staffed with polite friendly young men and women who really take care of anything you may need.
They drove us and picked us up, waited on us every meal and really added to an already wonderful experience.
You will NOT be disappointed if you stay with Curtis at Glacier Bay Country Inn!!!

A very short ride. I would say less than 15 minutes.
Hi Roger, Glacier Bay is a fantastic place to visit! I stayed at the Glacier Bay Country Inn. It is different and in my opinion much better than the lodge. They provide room and board as well as some excursion packages that can be visited on their website. (Google Search for Glacier Bay Country INN) We had our own private cabin which helped with the feel of a far away alaskan get away I was after! (I still had some creature comforts though) We went out on their boat for some halibut fishing and also to view and kayak the glaciers located about a 90 minute boat ride away. Those trips are breathtaking, fun and not strenuous at all! They were very familiar with the many trails and their degree of difficulty around the area. We hiked a few trails that were pretty fun and not hard at all. One along the banks of a river feeding the bay. I would not consider them backpacking trips but we carried day packs with just water and lunch. The Country Inn packed our lunch and snacks those days as well! The food at the country Inn is also fantastic and the chef includes you in planning a menu to satisfy your cravings. We saw bear every night from the dining room and bald eagles flew around and allowed for some great pictures! The Country Inn also has a great theatre for movies or whatever you would like to view via satellite. They started a fire at night for us on the deck and we sat in the spa and relaxed in the evening as well. They anticipated our needs and had many ideas for fun along the way! I highly recommend everyone visit the Glacier Bay Country Inn!! Hope that helps you out! Let me know how it goes, I'd love to hear how your trip goes! -Jared
