Great place to stay at an affordable price. Great service by Ross. Plenty information about the park and what roads were closed. What hylights are a must to see and other suggestions if it’s raining. Roadwork was minimal.
Worth staying at Motel Lake McDonald. Staff very helpful. Rooms and shower are clean and small but shower head was great. Close to Lake McDonald lodge and boat dock and camp shop. Enjoyed the visit. Fully recommend!
We loved the location and the room was adequate since we did not spend a lot of time in it (sleeping). Management and staff were very attentive. Off the road far enough for quiet atmosphere but close to Camp Store for supplies. No in room mini fridge though.
If I could put a MINUS score on this property, -5 would be it. Everything is old, worn out, and dirty. Bathroom shower is 3' x 3'(max) and total size of bathroom is 6' x 6'. You will strain your back to s(h)it on the toilet, forget about the sink. Space heat was LOUD and annoying. Walls are paper thin, the room paneling needed to be cleaned and restained.... I don't know what to say about the carpet. Electrical outlets are of 2 phase with NO ground! Mattress are of flop house quality, and don't know what the mattress covers look like (a map of the Philippine Islands?). WiFi doesn't exist here, period! This review is for room 2, may be the other rooms are in better shape. The photo(s) are probably of the only room that was remodeled(?) I'm in my mid sixties, and this is the worse property I ever stay at..... including hostels and pensiones. Value wise, this property is no more than 50 usd a night. Kids are running this place and are going through the motions. The health department needs to make a stop here. You have been warned! To the property mgr, don't reply and start looking for another gig.…
First, this hotel may not be for everyone -- but it is a gem for what it is. It is a vintage 1960's style motor hotel and is the reminder of bygone era. The rooms are smaller, but met all of our needs. It is not a place for mass media (no television), but the Wifi works well (virtually no cell service) and the location is beautiful. It's only a short walk to the Lake McDonald Lodge (the vintage railroad hotel) and the boat dock. From a standpoint of value (compared to other options in the local area), it is outstanding. The staff is friendly and I we had a great two night stay.
The lodge is 1950’s style but has been somewhat updated. It essentially is a place to lay your head. There are no amenities like a mini-fridge, coffee pot, or tv. You can get great coffee in the office—which opens at 8 am so if you’re headed out early, no dice there. Our room had 2 double beds and only 2 accessible outlets. The heater is a wall unit and sufficiently warmed our room. There is no a/c, only a box fan, to cool the room and I’m not sure the bathroom or rear window will open. The front window is plate glass and will not. Another review stated the bathroom was cruise ship-sized. That is generous as we’ve cruised an inside, low-fare cabin and the motel bathroom was much smaller. I’m 5’2”/150 lbs and the shower was small, even for me. The toilet area is extremely cramped. My husband is 6’/240 lbs and had a hard time with that area. When we arrived (2 hours after the posted check-in time), we found our room had no towels/washcloths (which Ross, the manager, immediately took care of). If you’re on the bottom floor of building 1, be prepared to hear everything—walking overhead, doors opening/closing, conversations, and even someone rolling over in bed upstairs. Be careful with the beds as they are on wheels and move if you sit on the just right. The accommodations were sufficient but overpriced at $200+/night with tax. The one redeeming thing is if you stay here, it grants you GTTSR access as your reservation is your timed-entry ticket. (Still need to pay park admission or have an America the Beautiful annual pass. We knew this.) I would stay there again only if I couldn’t get a timed-entry ticket to access Glacier NP.…
if your look for a place to stay in Glacier Park look no further this place is outstanding! the Manger Ross and his desk manager were beond outstanding ! the location is very good it is near to the lake and all the local amenities
The location is excellent. However, renovations are needed in the bathroom; and the room needs new pillows, sheets, and carpet. Lake McDonald Lodge is fabulous. If everything is already booked in the park, try Belton Chalet, just outside the park. The place has a lot of character.
The carpet had huge stains on it and was filthy. We had no hot water in the shower. The beds were like sleeping on cardboard. The Wifi sucked. For the price I paid, the basics were not provided. The room had a really bad odor to it as well.
Avoid. This motel needs to be immediately remodeled. It is an embarrassment to this beautiful area. The owner obviously the owner doesn't care. I am surprised that this motel has not been shut down. Camping world be a much better choice.
