The staff and the location are both exceptional but the motel property is in need of serious updating! They bed was terribly uncomfortable and the linens/ towels should have been replaced years ago. I'm aware that this is a "motel" but we've stayed at many in our travels that maintain a certain standard in the ways that they can, especially at that price!
This was a nice property close to all amenities near Lake McDonald. The room was clean and provided what we needed. Our only complaint was that there was no air-conditioning, so it was so hot in the room in the evenings it was uncomfortable. There were also no ceiling fans or floor fans to help move the air. If you go in the summer months, be prepared.
This was our first stay with the Motel Lake McDonald and we were pleasantly surprised. Our other reservations were cancelled due to COVID, so this was a last minute change. Overall, the room was very nice. The price was super reasonable and the location is great. I will say the shower and bathroom are really tiny, but worked fine. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves.
Just finished a two night stay at the Motel Lake McDonald mid July 2020. Sharon the front office staff was so very accomodating and amazing. The young man helping clean the rooms was also awesome. The area was amazing with a two minute walk you were at a major hiking trail head or the Lodge water front. It was also a split drive between apgar and avalanche hiking areas. When the park was busy it gave you access to the middle of the park when the roads would normally be closed. Inside the rooms it was a motel. Beds were clean and reasonable. Bathroom was acceptable as was temperature control with a fan. We tried to fit 5 people including a toddler so it was a little bit too much of a squeeze for us. In the end it is a great option but this is inner park living so don't expect marble counter tops. Thank you to the staff for being so welcoming!!!!!…
Room was way too small for the prices paid. I will not recommend friends to stay in the park but rather find a nice hotel nearby where they can be comfortable and have a better bed to sleep in. The beds had to have been 50 years old or more.
