We had a fantastic experience rafting here. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Our guides Aidan and Mo were knowledgeable and kept things fun for our big group of adults and kids, letting us be "competitive" while keeping everyone safe. You can tell everyone loves what they are doing and it makes it hard not to have a great time! Highly recommend!

I have so many great things to say! First of all, the staff is very accommodating and super friendly I was arriving after the office closed so they left the key in a safe spot for me so we could get into our room. All I had to do was fill out some paper work and returned it to the office the next day. I also checked out by leaving the keys in the drop box since we left so early. Sooooo smooth and easy!

When we arrived at 8 pm, the hotel was EXTREMELY clean, quiet, and new. We stayed in the main lodge and it had a feeling of a log cabin/sweden vibes. There was a good sized fridge in the room and a microwave in the common areas so that was nice. Just know that there is not a TV or phone int he room but the WiFi was strong an I never had trouble using it.

The location was very convenient because it was a few miles from the West side of Glacier National Park and very close to shops and restaurants. They also had white water rafting and other activities right on the property! The cafe on the property was a red caboose but closed:( However; there was coffee in the lobby, a cafe across the street to grab food and plenty of other places nearby to get anything you need (food, water, outdoor gear, gas, etc.)

We were able to sleep soundly after a long day of hiking. They had soap, shampoo/conditioner, fresh towels, and hair dryer ready to use in the room. Plenty of hot water and clean sheets. It was so nice to have a hot shower and relax in an air-conditioned room after being in the hot sun all day.

The best thing about this place was the location and the cleanliness. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

We spent 2 nights in a ground floor lodge room. Our friends had a upstairs room. There was no bell service. It was easy for us to get our luggage and gear into the ground floor room, not so easy for our friends upstairs, as there is no elevator. Fortunately, we are able bodied seniors, but those with disabilities or limited strength would have a difficult time getting their belongings upstairs on their own. That being said the room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated, as was the common area. The room was large enough to have accommodated a small table for in room dining. The lodge appeared to be fairly new. There was a large refrigerator, but no coffee maker or TV. Coffee was available at the reception desk. We were told in room coffee makers were not available due to Covid-19 sanitation precautions. However, a microwave was provided for all guests to use in the common area. This doesn't seem safe considering all guests are allowed to use it. In room coffee makers could be easily sanitized in between guests. The bathroom was well stocked with toiletries and linens. They even supplied make-up remover pads and black facecloths for make-up removal. The location was great! Near the entrance to the park and with several very good restaurants nearby.

Excellent trip, even with a little rain LOL.
Richard was a terrific guide who was personable and fun as well as safety minded.
The rafts and equipment are well maintained and they had all the gear you would need including well maintained wet suites and rain gear that were clean and sanitized.
Everyone was friendly and helpful from the desk to the bus. I would definitely chose this company above any other!

Unfortunately the weather was atypical for June in Montana during my trip (cold and flooding) but fortunately I was staying in such a beautiful location and comfortable room so we were still able to enjoy our trip and it was very peaceful to sit on the porch/balconies and walk around the property. In doing so I met many of the employees who are sincerely friendly, thoughtful and helpful.
Their are 2 options for rooms here: Cabins for larger groups or someone who wants a full kitchen and a recently added post and beam lodge built in the Style of the historic glacier lodges built by the great Northern Railway at the turn of the last century. The rooms are crisp clean and well decorated with artworks by local Montana artists and the lodge has some rare historic photographs of the early 20th century Montana parks and Native American populations (I loved seeing these). The second floor has a winding balcony on all 4 sides with beautiful views.
There is an original railway caboose that the resort converted into a cafe and it’s really a work of art inside. The coffee is great but the uniqueness of the converted location alone makes it worth stopping by the resort.

I was a guest at this hotel for 3 nights. We attended a wedding on site and booked most of the rooms at the hotel. I paid for a room in the lodge and one of the cabins. The lodge room was very clean and comfortable but did not contain a TV. My 90 year old mother occupied this room and would have loved to view a show or two in the evening. Upstairs rooms contained guests that awoke at 5:00 a.m. and beginning running around the facility creating a noise disturbance.
The 2 bear cabin was very clean and spacious. The cabin did come equipped with a TV but NO AIR CONDITIONING! The bedroom was upstairs and holds the summer heat well into the evening. One side of the room had a small window and the other side only had a door that opened onto a porch. There was an inordinate flock of birds that use the fountain/pond throughout the day and some of them nested in the eaves directly above that door. If I had left that door open I risked birds flying into the room. The first evening I left the small windows on the backside of the bedroom open to attempt to cool the room. BIG MISTAKE. The highway is close to these rooms and the noise is heard all night. At 4:40 a.m. the birds in the tree right next to that window sounded the wake up call. It was impossible to sleep after that. I chose to sleep with the windows closed the following 2 evenings but had to deal with the heat. Fortunately, this was not the hottest summer I have experienced in Montana or it would have been unbearable.
The kitchenette included a coffee maker and coffee. The only plug in was directly behind the faucet. The only way to p;ug in the coffee maker was to put the unit in the sink and plug it in. I was not comfortable having an electrical appliance sitting in the sink while it was plugged in. We were forced to put the coffee maker on the floor next the sofa to make coffee. Please add a more convenient outlet for the kitchen.
Most lodging facilities in the Flathead/Glacier valley are next to highways so noise is always an issue. The lack of air conditioning in the cabins but not the lodge is unacceptable. The same applies to the TV. Lovely location for a wedding and the proximity to Glacier Park is great.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. I'm sorry that you missed the lack of a TV. We understand that can be frustrating, but we try to push people to enjoy our beautiful outdoors as much as possible. We do have lawn and board games in the lodge to give an extra few things to do. I also apologize for the loud other guests. For future reference, if you request a top floor room we'd be happy to accommodate that! I'm glad you found the cabin to be spacious enough for you and your family! We have found that with the windows open the breeze can really cool down the cabins well. We will certainly take your suggestions into consideration, as we are always looking for ways to improve! I hope that the bird wake up call was at least a pleasant one. The native birds around here have some beautiful calls. We would have also been happy to try to provide you with a fan if you had made the request. I am fairly certain that the kitchens all have more accessible plugs, but that is something that we will look into and try to alleviate. Thank you for bringing that to our attention! Again, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with us for the most part, and I hope that I was able to alleviate some of your concerns, even slighly. We hope to see you again in the future. Thanks!

Went with a large group of 21, everyone enjoyed it. We did the class 2-3 rapids, was about a 15 minute bus ride to the starting location. It was cold enough that the company provides us with wet suits, splash jackets and booties.
Glad we did it, with a smaller group I would have done a class 4 rapid. Defiantly bring a towel and change of clothes, go down the road for burritos after

We only stayed one night in this accommodation however I will be back to stay again. The rooms were large and well thought out, with high ceilings, large doors and just common-sense construction. The furnishings were also very nice. It’s rare to find such a high level of craftmanship in a hotel. It’s clear to me that when Lee built these accommodations, he wanted it to be something special and it is. The place is built like an old-world Swiss Chalet and authentic down to the use of pegs instead of bolts in his timber framing. The railings are all cut to resemble tulips. Down to the smallest detail this place is outstanding. I had a latte and breakfast sandwich in the caboose café and it was the best on the two weeks we spent traveling around Glacier and Waterton Park. If you in the area it’s outside the park but well worth staying.

To begin, I want to write about the experience I had while staying at the Great Northern Resort Lodge. I flew into Kalispell, and drove ~ 25 minutes to the lodge, which was very easy to locate and access. Check in was extremely smooth and the staff was incredibly friendly. The lodge itself offers great indoor and outdoor seating that overlooks the mountains, and allows guests access to multiple games and activities. There is also a fire ring onsite that proved to be useful during my stay. The room itself was tidy and and spacious, with a very nice bathroom. There is no TV, and that is perfectly fine because I was there to connect to nature, not technology. The resort has WiFi, and it was the only place in the entire park that I could access anything requiring service, so there are no complaints there. The stay was peaceful and simple- just the way I like it!

While there, I also booked a rafting trip in a two-person “funyak” and had the time of my life. The rafting trip offered wonderful views and a great mix of leisurely floats and exhilarating rapids. The tour guides were incredibly friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and very funny. They care about rafters’ safety and try their best to provide guests with a wonderful experience. If you’re looking for thrill, I recommend booking the two-person raft as it’s a smaller raft making the rapids a bit more adventurous, but get ready to get soaked! They did provide wetsuits and water booties, so taking a large amount of water into the raft was no issue. While on the river, we passed multiple other rafts that belonged to other companies, and I’ll just say that it seemed like they were all out for a relaxing float rather than the white water rafting trip. Great northern rafting was well worth my time and money! Thanks for giving me an incredible experience!

double queen room was specious and clean. Updated large bathroom. Everything very clean. comfortable beds. No tv or coffee in the room, but it did have a refrigerator. the wedding venue was great..food was wonderful especially the rehearsal dinner, tables decorated so nice. walking up a steep hill on a treacherous gravel path to the wedding ceremony site was terrible..especially for seniors. This path needs to be made safer! This lodge is in a great location, close to Glacier Park entrance, and where nephew had his wedding outdoor ceremony and reception. There is central air and heat, and is easily adjustable.

If Wapiti cabin is the same as Moose cabin, no it does not. It's one bedroom with walls and a closing door and the rest of the upstairs is an open loft with 2 queen beds. The management seems to think this makes it a "bedroom" but most of us would call that a 1 bedroom with a second sleeping area. I would not call it a bedroom because it is not closed off in any way and has no privacy. This distinction needs to be made clearly because if you are unaware of that and expecting 2 bedrooms with closing doors, you will be unpleasantly surprised.

Are there washer/dryers available in the cabins? Laundry facility on site?
Answer from GreatNorthernRes
Dear JoAnn, Thank you for your question! We do not have washers and driers in the cabins, but there is a super clean laundromat in the little village of West Glacier, it is very well maintained an extremely clean. West Glacier is 1/2 mile from us. Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with! Sincerely, Victoria
