Currently staying here, July 2020. We checked in last night and discovered our bathroom window does not close or lock, and it is a ground floor room. Anyone could easily get into the room through it. Came back to our room today to find housekeeping had left our door unlocked! I called the front desk to inform them and they said "we have elderly people who clean our rooms so sometimes they forget things". In my opinion that is not something that should be forgotten. The desk clerk also implied that they thought we had checked out, which is impossible because our belongings are all over the room and while they did replace our towels they did not make the beds. Would not recommend this place if you value security at all. Extremely poor customer service.
a bit rough around the edges but that adds to the charm. No TV. good location for the the park bathroom was very small there is a great family owned restaurant close by great location to the entrance to the park not sure I would stay again
The only thing this place has going for it is location. Room has horrible musty smell. Was suppose to be a kittchennet and while we had a microwave, fridge, and stove there wasnt even a dinner plate to be had. We had one small fry pan with no lid...would be so easy to have stocked the kitchen better. Maybe even some dish cloths or towels? The hot water took forever to get if at all. Bathroom door was off its hinges, soiled towels left on the floor of the tiniest bathroom ever as well as long dark hair left on the shower floor...Highway noise was awful as well as the train noise. If this was a cheap hotel I get it but is a true RIP off for the price. Forced to prepay so you are stuck with it. It is a sad sad place that it seems owners are just taking the money in with no upkeep at all.…
If you are going to stay on the west side of Glacier, this is a good spot. It seems like there are better hikes and more to do on the east side of the park, but Lake McDonald is nearby and there is good hiking on the west side, too. We did not think the water in our unit was hot; lukewarm would be a more appropriate adjective. Rooms in our building did not have WiFi, but there is a nice communal building and patio that receives WiFi. This building also has microwaves and they offer coffee in the AM. Room was clean; bed was comfortable. Easy check-in/checkout.
While some have discussed the train sounds I would say they are a welcome part of the stay in West Glacier! The trains are a very important part of this part of the country so come here knowing you will hear and see trains often but peace more often! I have an app on my phone called White Noise and use the heavy rain setting nightly no matter where I am and this allows me to sleep through most anything even on low setting including the sounds here and I am a crazy light sleeper. Now, the room is very comfortable, very pretty knotty pine walls, carpeting and the beds/linens, towels are all very nice! The bathroom is very compact as is the shower but the decorations and cleanliness of this entire place make me really enjoy everything and overlook some things. There is a small building that houses nice tables and chairs along w 2 microwaves, toaster and a wood fire place. I find this place very comfortable and it suited our needs just great! We arrived by Amtrak from St. Paul with only our backpacks and bikes and so this was just super for us. I travel a great deal all over the world and while I love a very nice 5 star I am not looking for that here! And, just so you know, the wifi is not great but worked okay in the community room and in our room because we were close enough to the router. It is 0.8 miles to the depot FYI and an easy and very pretty ride into the park! I think 3 miles to Lake Mc Donald…
Unless you like the noise of train whistles at night, don't stay hear. I had earplugs and could deal with it but it's very irritating. Old motel, no T.V. or radio, WiFi isn't too bad for that area. Rooms are small but their coffee in the morning is pretty good. Wish they would have called and let me know the west side of the park was closed!
I was about to give this hotel a solid 4 stars until I tried taking the shower. Here's the catch - you'll only get about 5-7 minutes of hot water until the water heater runs is finished. That's for two people! Unbelievable - I don't think you can find a heater any smaller, and that's for quite a substantial price! Other than that - hotel is clean, well organized, and convenient to Glacier. The trains are there but I was surprised that it did not bother me at all (and I am a very light sleeper). So if shower is not your priority - its a great choice. If you do want to shower you migh want to look elsewhere.
This appears to be an older motel, but fairly well kept up. It’s maybe 1/4 mile down Highway 2 from the turnoff to the park. There’s a walking/bike path on the other side of the highway if you wanted to walk to the closest dinner options. They have a little detached common room where they have free coffee in the morning, a fire place, and some books and jigsaw puzzles, as well as a covered patio where guests could sit and take in the view. I was there during the Howe Ridge Fire, so the vista was mostly obscured, but looked like it would be nice on a clear day. One amenity that I hadn’t seen before but which was great for this area was a less than perfect wash cloth to clean off your windshield or dusty shoes. The motel has the misfortune to be located just across the highway from a railroad siding where trains pull over to let trains coming the other way pass, so there was a fair amount of noise from safety whistles, clanking switches and idling locomotives, in addition to the traffic on the highway. I was in a room in the front building that has the office in it. (This did give me good wifi in my room.) There appear to be other buildings in the back which may have been quieter.…
The motel was rustic, but clean with friendly staff. Nice views of Glacier NP ridge line. The road traffic was noisy. However, the train is right across the street and ran all night with the whistle blowing.
great little motel. Courteous and friendly staff. charming area to eat your meals overlooking the mountains. Clean rustic style rooms, comfortable beds , minutes away from west entrance I recommend this as a great place to stay when visiting the western part of glacier
