West Glacier Motel was a simple and basic, but nice, room with exceptionally close proximity to the west entrance of GNP and close to town. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and although the walls are a little thin, it's probably the best nights sleep we had on your trip. I would stay here again.
Incredible value and comfort. The reception people are right on the ball and bend over backwards to take care of the customer. Rooms are in a beautiful setting and you can walk everywhere. Top notch laundromat right next to reception. Beds are comfortable, showers have good water pressure and heat. 2 minutes from West entrance to Glacier NP and 20 minutes to Lake McDonald lodge. I've stayed 3 times over the past 4 years and each time it gets better.
We were concerned about the motel based on a few previous reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. We had a two queen bed room. There's no air con, but there is a fan and the temps go down at night, even though we were there when Glacier was 95 degrees. It's super convenient to everything in the little village - store, camping supplies, cafes and definitely ice cream. We could bike to Apgar Village on the 2 mile bike path. It's close to the river where we could watch wonderful sunsets and scan for wildlife. The room was clean and had plenty of room for the two of us, even with our large camping tubs. Yes, it's a retro motel, and doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but we had a lovely time there. Yes, small shower. It has a hair dryer, soaps and shampoos and lots of fluffy towels. Beds were comfortable. It's a good choice as long as you're not a fuss budget. And the staff were very friendly and helpful.…
The three prong electrical outlets in our room were not properly grounded. The sink control was backwards and someone could get burnt with this setup. This is an easy fix as the control cartridge only needs to be removed, rotated 180 degrees, and then reinstalled to work properly. Finally, there was no room service.
This was a good overall experience! The only thing I would suggest is that you have someone in the office earlier, because we get up early and like to be on the road and there was no clear instructions on what to do with the key. We left it in the box outside the store and I called to make sure they found it so it worked out but I was uncertain when we left
Perfect location near the west entrance of GNP however, that's really the only positive thing I can share about this property. It's very outdated & not super clean- but the biggest issues were the strong odor and significant heat. With no AC and 90+ degree weather outside, the motel room was stifling! The window latch was stuck for a while so I wasn't able to air it out. I got a migraine due to the heat and smell so spent part of my evenings in my vehicle (which defeated the purpose of renting a room). While this is one of the more affordable accommodations in such close proximity to the park, I would not recommend! At least not during the hot summer months. Save your money and spend only $23/night at the park campsites that also have flush toilets and showers.
Convenient location ,beautiful scenery, nearby restaurant, gas station, walk across bridge into park river, trip of a lifetime with my son looking forward to Going to the sun road area of Glacier National park
Staff was very helpful. From the initial phone contact (from Canada) to when i arrived early, they offered to store my gear until my room was ready. VERY close to Glacier View Golf Club very friendly but challenging greens. Motel room is VERY basic.
We decided last minute to visit Glacier National Park after spending a few weeks in Montana. This place was small, but it was nestled super close to the park, in a cute village that had some good activities for little ones, and offered a comfy stay. I would stay here again.
It is what I expected, in that it was a bed to sleep and a shower. Did not have high expectations. But the shower was small and shower head is at 5’ height. So needless to say my 5 year old had the most comfortable shower experience. My self (5’11, 300#) had the least pleasurable experience, mind you it was doable. Keep your expectations in check and enjoy the beautiful park and everything will be good.
