My boyfriend & I were disappointed to find NO heat in hotel (boiler to be replaced) when we arrived on Christmas night. The rooms were outfitted with space heaters, which did suffice, but I think we should have been contacted prior to our arrival. I was pleasantly surprised that we had a refrigerator & microwave. The room (201) was a nice size - toiletries could be up'd a notch in quality; need a light over the sink which is in the bedroom & a towel bar would be nice there. I had read that hot water takes awhile to heat up so expected this, but think the hotel should do something about this. Breakfast just OK during COVID - juice machine broken - otherwise bagels, toast, oatmeal, muffins, etc. Overall I love this historic hotel - you are right in town so recommend walking from hotel into town, BUT owners needs to fix problems in a more timely manner.…
Great place to stay! Really enjoyed the historical tour of the hotel by Phillip Cave. Very informative! The staff is very friendly and helpful in directing to some of the local sites and cuisines. Highly recommend a stay with these folks!
This was my first trip to Silver City and I was charmed. The Murray Hotel is ideally located for exploring downtown, as well as for a nice hike on Boston Hill. The Hotel is rich in history, very comfortable, nicely re-done. Our room was large and well-appointed. Nice bed. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Complimentary continental breakfast was pretty standard fare, but there was plenty of it and I appreciated the convenience. Will definitely stay here again.
Murray Hotel offered us a nice stay for one night as we travelled through NM. While there are other options to stay in Silver City, the Murray Hotel did a nice job. Due to COVID-19 the area was rather quiet, but the staff at the hotel did a nice job of keeping things clean and organized and maintaining social distancing as required. All were wearing masks and adhered to the proper protocol and mandate. We did not partake on the continental breakfast that is offered in the AM, but had a coffee to go instead as we continued our trek through the state.
I was really excited to give this hotel a try. It had a very good vibe going for it. There was no one manning the front desk. Which I could excuse given the current situation. However having to wait outside for almost 30 minutes was upsetting.Off to a rough start but I was willing to give them a pass. That is until I arrived at the room. The room was very strangely lit. The tv was ancient. And worst of all the room lacked any form of A/C, and was extremely warm even though it appeared to have thermostat it was non functioning at the time. I can only imagine how bad it would in summer. And then to top it all off the bed was extremely uncomfortable. It was as a stiff as a board and it would constantly freak and groan. This led to my inability to sleep. Come the morning despite reassurances that the front desk would be manned in the morning for checkout. It was not. And I had to call multiple times. Just to be told to leave the keys there at the desk.…
