I have stayed at the William Vale on at least 5 other occasions, and until this stay, it was my favorite luxury hotel to stay at while visiting my daughter in Brooklyn. The price of the room was quite high this stay ($1400/night X 2 nights), but with the price increase, came worsening service. The bellman was rude and unaccommodating to us. We waited long periods for service (room service, linens for the pull out bed, ice, etc.). I also rented at poolside cabana (I believe I paid around $500 for) on a day that turned out to be a little chilly (but sunny), but we made a go of it anyway, and received zero service (no one coming out to order food/drinks from). Staying at a luxury hotel with friend is supposed to be a this amazing experience, but this stay left me feeling that I need to look at other hotels in the area for my future stays in New York…
My partner and I chose to do a bit of a staycation for the 4th this year. Instead of going to the hamptons we opted for The Vale. Crystal made us feel right at home with her inviting smile . She directed us to the huge umbrella covering the lounge chair that was as soft as a cloud and large enough to fit 3 people comfortably. The drinks came out fast and cold as alana and nate made sure we were taken care of during sweltering heat. As always the staff at the pool did a fantastic job of making sure we felt like royalty during out stay. Cant wait to go back!
Together with my family, we checked into the William Vale for 4 nights over the New Year. After reading so many positive reviews online about the William Vale, I must say that they didn’t disappoint. If you are looking for a base in the Williamsburg area, then the William Vale is the perfect location. It is in close walking distance proximity to restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and laundromats, I.e. everything you need to be exploring Williamsburg. Starting from the car valet and bell hop service, which provided temporary parking for my rental car while I checked in, to the welcoming and warm front desk staff at check-in, my first impressions of the William Vale was very positive. We took a family room for our family of four and it was spacious enough to fit 5 big luggages. The balcony was spacious enough for a group of four to have a nice conversation while enjoying some fresh air or new year’s day fireworks. The service at the William Vale was very prompt as well. Twice we requested for additional hangers as well as for additional towels and they responded within minutes. Although, the hotel only provide complimentary wifi for up to 2 devices per room, we had our wifi charges for additional devices waived at check-out, as per our request. I would also strongly recommend a visit to the rooftop bar Westlight, located on the 22nd floor. Westlight offers a breathtaking and panoramic view of New York City and also serve a wide variety of interesting cocktails Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the William Vale very much and would definitely return if we have to come back to the Williamsburg area in Brooklyn. my partner and i booked a last minute staycation here, and it was FANTASTIC. the views are gorgeous, and the decor is modern and cool. the front desk was superrrrr friendly and helpful (thank you daniel!!). rooms are spotless, restaurants and room service were tasty. it was an absolutely perfect stay.
I am finally writing this after telling so many friends about our experience with WilliamVale and being urged to write a review about the terrible and just outright rude service we experienced. We booked WilliamVale for our wedding night on October 14th and were so excited for our stay. We had a friend drop our bags off the morning of and the staff was great at the time, knowing that we were getting married that night. We came back to WilliamVale after our wedding (still in my wedding dress and my husband in his tux) and realized we did not have our id’s on us. Obviously we know that this is important to check in, but the man who was working the front desk was not only so rude to us, but incredibly smug and unwilling to help us find a solution when clearly it was us who had booked the room. We both were thrown off too because we came in so happy, and the mood and demeanor of the front desk attendant was the opposite. My husband showed that his credit card matched the name on our reservation. We informed the manager and the front desk attendant that we lived in the neighborhood, so we could have someone bring us our ids, but they still treated us like we had no right to be in their lobby. The thing that upset both of us the most too was when we said we were going to back to our home to get our ids, the front desk attendant gave us our bag back that we had checked in earlier that day, so clearly he knew it was us. We had not even asked for our bag which had a name tag and room number on it, so at this point we felt extremely unwelcomed and offended even after spending over $700 on our stay. We ended up not returning that night because once we were home we realized what had just happened and were so upset with the minimal effort by their staff to make us feel welcome on our wedding night. Or even so much as help order us a taxi to help expedite the process of getting our ids and returning to properly check in. It’s safe to say that the staff that was working that night has no regard for their customers. If you are looking for a place to stay in Williamsburg, please please please go with any other hotel in the area. The Williamsburg and Wythe hotels are amazing options with kind staff! And if you are looking for a nice place to spend your wedding night, please look elsewhere. …
Check in was a breeze with extremely friendly and competent clerk. Always greeted heartily by all the desk and security staff thereafter. In front of the front doors is a lovely patio garden which was flooded with rain when we where there, but seems sunny and fantastic on a normal day, it is a little tricky to find the front door at first through the patio set up. The patio is shared by a nice lunch restaurant. The rooms are small and compact by design with some very clever accomodations to small scale, such as the armoire with zig zag mirrored doors. There is a coffee machine over by the balcony, open up the cabinet underneath which contains the fridge AND THE COFFEE. Coffee drawer with the cups is above the fridge, trust me on this as there is no drawer pull. There is only one usuable outlet in the sleeping room and one in the bathroom, so consider bringing some sort of power strip. The beds are very comfortable, but there is a nasty little platform sticking out under the mattress which you will shred your shins on every time. The hallways are wide spacious and well lit. The elevator lobbies have panoramic views of Brooklyn, Queens and the East River over to Manhattan; enjoy. after. You need your key card to get up and down on the elevator, no exceptions. There does not seem to be a breakfast restaurant, so try to figure that out...you can go to Wyeth Hotel but that is quite pricey French Restaurant. Luecas seems lovely for dinner and other guests were telling us how great the food is. In general the hotel is quiet and serene but a nearby dance hall has music blaring till 5 AM during one night of our stay.…
I booked this hotel for my folks first visit to Brooklyn and they loved it! Julissa & the front desk team were extremely friendly & professional. The room was clean and had an awesome balcony which we used for breakfast & happy hour :)
we were loyal william vale clients for years. it was our favorite place to stay for the views, the service, the beautiful rooms and the BATH TUBS. however, i cannot recommend staying here anymore (we told friends/family/clients to stay here for years). our most recent stay revealed a complete lack of care for their guests and their stays. we had BROWN WATER coming out of our sink and bath tubs. we were drinking it for days before we realized. we documented all of it in photos and videos. they accused us of lying about. we had multiple visits from managers and engineers who said the problem was fixed, but it was NEVER FIXED. over a 4 night stay we only got to shower ONCE. worst part was that it was a vacation for my daughter’s 5th birthday. they didn’t care. the manager (her name is OYA) even rolled her eyes at me when I mentioned my disappointment in paying $1000 per night and having this be our experience. She rolled her eyes right in my face. During that same visit from the staff we were verbally attacked and told were were lying about the situation and that it was our “fault” for making the water brown. During one of our phone calls Someone from their staff also mention that this was a known issue. That this was common and they had complaints about it before. i’ve never had a more frustrating or disappointing experience at a luxury hotel in my life. I will never stay at this hotel again and I will tell everybody who will listen to stay away from the William Vale. Hotels like this don’t have to answer to any larger companies because they are independent. That also means that there is zero accountability to make their clients happy. we were even given the email of a higher up by one of the managers: Julia. she was the only person who actually did something to help us. when i emailed PETER YBARRA multiple times telling him our story and following up on the emails, we simply never got a response. such a slap in the face. you’ve lost me as a client and potentially many other clients.…
Tenth visit. Best in Brooklyn, including views, but still not equal to top Manhattan hotels. Friendly staff. Accomodating to wheelchair-walker guest. Slow elevators. Only restaurant is Italian, in basement. Oddest thing: it won't offer an American breakfast as a choice; only Italian. No bagels. Go figure. Excellent bodega one block away for carry-out food and many convenience items.
I read prior reviews and was surprised how different my experience was. If I had to guess, something changed recently. Event staff is completely unresponsive and you cannot get anyone to call you back or respond to an email. There were a ton of hidden costs that more than DOUBLED expenses we were initially quoted. Booking a wedding is stressful enough without all this added stress! I spoke with a number of people that work in the event space, and all of them were shocked at the lack of professionalism at WilliamVale. There are a number of great options in Williamsburg - go somewhere else!
