Really comfortable and conveniently located hotel. Restaurant and cafe serving Israeli food is fantastic. Vibe is hip. Management and staff are helpful, professional and eager to help. Rooms are small in the NYC typical way, but decor is nice, and everything was spotless. They make the most of a tight space.
Amid a landscape of reclaimed warehouses and factories, the Hoxton finds itself in the groovy North Side of Williamsburg. These reinvented spaces are now occupied by fashionable coffee shops, cocktail bars, night clubs and high end retailers. The hotel's low-lying surroundings affords far reaching views of Brooklyn and Manhattan. My sleeping quarters were categorized as 'Roomy' and gave off a residential aura. The room was small but exhibited a smart use of space with a neat folding desk and compact wooden furniture adorned with brass shelves, hooks and rails. The star of the room was the floor-to-ceiling window which provided a great view of the cityscape. As a book worm I appreciated the small collection of books provided. The bath was modern with white subway tiles, deep marble-top sink, walk-in shower, brass fixtures and all the accoutrements. The food options at Hoxton's 2 restaurants is top-notch. 'K'far' serves an all day menu alongside a full bar and a bakery with takeaway goods. The prize eatery is 'The Laser Wolf', an Israeli-styled open air grill. My tour of the menu revealed it is cornerstoned around skewers of various meats and fish. I choose the chicken shishlik with savory french fries and included the satisfying salatim with dips, pickles, olives, hummus and more that adorned the table throughout the meal........almost a meal in itself.,,,,,,,,wow. A heavenly dessert tickled my sweet tooth in the form a brown sugar soft serve ice-cream with pistachios and cherry crisps. A Saz-Arak cocktail, a rye concoction, was a great finishing touch. So, if you want to enjoy all the hippiness of Williamsburg, in reasonable price accommodations with stellar views and awesome food.................then try the ...................Hoxton...........................Hippy Digs with Kebabs to Die For.......…
Being intentionally locked out of my room by the front desk four days into a nine-day prepaid stay due to "not having a card on file for incidentals" and being made to feel like some sort of thief by the front desk staff was memorable. I had prepaid nearly 3k for my whole nine-night reservation through the Amex Hotel Collection, so the action of locking me out hardly seemed justified to "get my attention" as the front desk worker stated. The only incidental expense I had on my bill at the point was laundry service. Further, the front desk staff could have just called the phone number attached to the reservation and “got my attention” that way. Also, my credit card had a $350 security deposit pending charge on it from when I checked in, so the front desk had a card on file for me. I understand needing a new card on file if something happened to the previous one, but there’s no excuse for how I was treated, the manner I was summoned down to the front desk, and the lack of an apology. Also memorable was AGAIN being intentionally locked out of my room the day I was due to check out. My partner that morning had gone to the front desk and requested a 4pm checkout as we had a flight to catch. The front desk worker said we just had to pay a $30 fee so we did. At 3pm later that day, I AGAIN found myself on the other side of a locked door to a room I had paid for with all my belongings inside. The front desk staff told us that there was no late checkout request on our file. After some time-consuming back and forth, the front desk worker said that he would do us a favor and we could go get our luggage out of the room. What a joke! All of this took time, so we only ended up having 30min to shower/pack before leaving for the airport and of course the cleaning lady knocked on the door right at 4pm. The cleaning lady was wonderful though and gave us an additional 10 minutes to hurriedly finish packing. What disappointing and insulting experience for an expensive hotel!…
Dirty rooms don't get cleaned, they promise bike rental, just a lie, they don't have full sized towels, they don't serve breakfast...rubbish hotel. Saw so many people complaining whilst there, staff totally indifferent
I stayed at The Hoxton while searching in Williamsburg for an affordable place to stay that was still super cute. It was all of those things including a cozy lobby area for working and hanging out. I would suggest getting down to the lobby early if you want to secure a good spot next to an outlet. I did feel like it was a bit of a cluster to find a spot. Service was lovely. K'Far the restaurant was delish. Definitely make reservations though. I had food delivered there via instacart so I could have healthy snacks- so it was amazing that they have mini-fridges in the room. Rooms were small and cozy but I had a great view of Brooklyn. A decent coffee bar in the lobby helped me get out the door to work in the AM. Highly recommend. The price couldn't be beat.
This trip was very enjoyable. It was near great food and stores. It was also near the park. I thought the location of the hotel was excellent. Not too far from the train and if I want a breather, the water is right there also. The food in the hotel was also amazing so I didn’t have the desire to eat anywhere else. I am bothered that there were no croissants though.
Loved it. Stayed here for a family event nearby. The K'far restaurant is buzzing day and night and gives this place a great vibe, and the food and service are terrific. The staff was all really helpful and friendly. Free street parking was easy to find (Fri night through Sun afternoon) which was a pleasant surprise. Loved the Amex room upgrade to a room with a Manhattan view. Wow. And although the room is small, though maybe not by NYC standards, it was really really comfortable and well designed. Loved this place.
its good for couples literally staying in to sleep and its so close to nice spots in brooklyn. the restaurant and coffee shop at the lobby is always full and its a really a nice place to stay in and chill.
I have never seen such small rooms in my life. I have stayed in small hotel rooms in NYC and across Europe, but this was something else. I felt like I was in steerage on a cruise ship. I have even stayed at the Hoxton in London, and it was lovely! It is a pain to get from the entrance of the hotel to the front desk or elevators. There is a HUGE steep staircase, and it is not obvious to take the elevator down to the subterranean lobby - and don't count on the staff to help you. Also I could hear every door close and person walking by my room. My back still hurts from the bed. There is nowhere to even put your luggage! VERY unwelcoming front desk. You also have to request housekeeping each day individually, and then sometimes even after you request it, they do not come. Do not stay here! There are so many other great Williamsburg hotels.…
Though the rooms were small, the beds were super comfy and the bathroom very cute with great products. Due to a small error we were kindly upgraded to a room with a superlative view. Had a great stay. Would definitely return. Quirkily labeled amenities made us smile.
