Clean, cozy hotel in Chinatown Brooklyn, NY. I like that it is conveniently located to the 8th Av subway station (two blocks away) where you can get on a train to manhattan in 30-35 mins.

They offer an assortment of pastries and coffee/tea or OJ up to 10:00 am, but I prefer a hearty breakfast. The surrounding areas do not have good dining options. Although the room is small, it was very clean and offered enough space for a solo traveler or couples.

I did not like how cold the room remained, although I set the thermostat to my desired temperature. When I raised the temperature, cool air blew through the vents, even though the system was on heat and auto. Therefore, I believe the hotel has a centralized heating ventilation, and AC (HVAC ) system allowing guests to adjust the temperature within a preset range set by the hotel. I am certain it is done for energy efficiency but it was too cold in my room and I was uncomfortable during my three day stay. Consequently, I did not sleep well. On my last day, I asked for a blanket and was given a very flimsy/thin one by the front desk attendant. Blankets should be in each room. The front desk attendant (non-asian lady with glasses who was there Tuesday night (12/10/204) was not the most pleasant. I don't know her name but she was cold and unwelcoming.

Needed a hotel for one night for business trip and this hotel did not disappoint. For me the location was close to where my meetings were so that was a plus. The area was industrial so if you're looking for sightseeing or culture, find somewhere else. The parking was right next door with inside entrance to hotel, a real plus. The hotel check in was efficient and courteous. The hotel communal space as well as my room was immaculate and smelled clean and fresh as well. I should have asked for room on higher floor, as my room (#110) was close to check in desk and elevator and while it wasn't crazy noisy I would have been better off in a quieter room. That was my only downfall and if I wasn't so tired I would've asked for a room change. The room was small but had everything I needed. As for breakfast they had coffee and a few cereals, bread and fruit which is very basic. However, Uber Eats had a lot of options nearby and I ordered a great breakfast from nearby bagel store that came quickly and inexpensively. I wasn't going to Insignia for the gourmet cooking - so I had no expectations on the breakfast selections and it was nice they had anything at all honestly! In summary, if you are looking for a clean and pleasant stay - Insignia hits the mark. If I need to see clients in this area again I would 100% stay here again without hesitation - just on higher floor!

Stayed in Insignia as renovations were being done in my apartment near by. Its a small hotel with 5 floors and 87 rooms, king rooms face the front and queen face the back. My room was on the 5th floor facing the back and looking down on the limited space parking lot. You must request a refrigerator as they are based on availability. There isn't much space around the Queen bed so it makes it tight. There is no iron or ironing board if you do need one in the room. The customer service definitely is different with who is at the front desk. I only have dealt with an Asian man who is very helpful, kind and greets you everytime. My husband dealt with a women who was rude. Parking as mentioned is in a limited space parking lot and is $29 a night. It does have in and our privileges but you can definitely find a spot on the block. I would recommend this hotel for a very short stay like a night or two just because the type of guest here can give it a bad name. Smoking is not permitted, however you smell weed throughout the floors. Only plus is that it is a updated hotel which was built in 2018 so you have the LCD TV on the wall mount and a nicely built bathroom with Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash in the shower already with a pump to be used.

New York apparently has 9! different Chinatowns with the major 3 being in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Flushing.
This hotel is interestingly right in the Brooklyn Chinatown.

Frustrating to park here, as it gets very cramped and it's challenging to get in/out since others need to drive the car to you.
It's in very close walking distance to the 8th Avenue subway station though. Walking there, sometimes people can be seen selling things with little table booths. This neighborhood doesn't particularly feel like a major tourist destination at all. It's more like a community of Asian people going about their day-to-day lives.

There are plenty of options for food near this hotel but for some of them there might be a language barrier. There's supposed to be a free breakfast here but it's really more of a grab and go deal with bananas, muffins, and coffee/tea. There isn't a separate breakfast dining room since the lobby doubles for that. The lobby is on the smaller side and faces the front desk.

Rooms are small but that's typical for NYC. Aesthetically quite pleasing - the colors and designs were chosen well. Clean enough, though I did find a stain on the curtain. Simple basic furniture.

Overall, it does the job in being a decent place to stay.

I came here for a family visit and it was the easiest place for me to go in and out of. The train station was right there. local restaurants and markets to get what i just needed. Dim sum restaurants and pool hall right across. It was exactly what i needed. Rooms were bigger than average rooms in New York city and it had exactly what i needed. the biggest thing for me was that its extremely CLEAN! Highly recommend and will return again.

One stay was enough. The positives were the room was fairly clean and parking garage allows for in/out privileges. Otherwise don’t expect a good nite sleep as the bed was not comfortable for two people. Every move was felt by the other person. The pillows were hard and lumpy. And the walls and windows were thin.

Stayed here one week while visiting family for the holidays. Hotel rooms are very small. It’s basically just a bed. No room to move about but with that said served it’s purpose. Hotel was clean. All staff that I interacted with were friendly and polite and helpful. Hotel is convenient to transportation. The only drawback is that the hotel is located in an Asian community and that is all there is when it comes to restaurants. There is nothing else. I would stay again.

First off, I would love to say that the Front desk has the best customer service. They are very friendly and very nice to give me the room early as it was available. Most hotels will make you wait until 3PM. They had coffee in the lobby and told me that there's also a kuerig machine in the room. The rooms are very quiet and clean. What i loved is that they also had a table for me to do my work and easy access to the wifi. I am here on business and definitely will return.

Came here for a quick business trip. What I look for in a hotel is great pricing and convenience. This hotel has all if not  more. Easy checkin, clean room and staffs all greeted me nicely. Everywhere I go is very convenient. The train is right there and tons of food choices and late night snacks. I love that a lot of places are opened late. Can I mention there’s a teso right next door?? I got souvenirs from there to bring back as well! I will definitely come back for my next stay to explore more and try other foods.
