Great hotel with a good location. Near Starbucks and shopping opportunities, gorgeous walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. The people at the front desk are always attentive and helpful. Decent pool facilities and a good bar on the lobby floor.

The location is fine. The Starbucks next door is fine. The hotel room itself was passable and sparse. The hotel is terrible. We checked in as the Marriott platinum member that we are, expecting decent treatment. The lobby had an electronic DJ playing offensively loud and unpleasant music so it was hard to hear. I had to cover my ears to get to the elevator. The clerk said they would upgrade us, so we got a room with an unappetizing empty room addition with a couch and a T.V., that was useless unless you are throwing a party for friends. We were on the 2nd floor, above the entrance. We could hear the fire trucks and motorcycles and street noise quite clearly, but we were tired and went to sleep.......................... Until 2:30 in the morning when the in-house club was letting out. For two hours, we had between 8 and 20 people on the street under our window, cursing, screaming, laughing and such. Motorcycles revving and streaking up the street again and again. Car doors slamming. Arguements and trash talking. I called the desk and they said they would send security out to quiet the people. If they did, I would have heard, but there was no security. It went on until 4:30 when, with earplugs I could finally get to sleep. We complained when we checked out, but it seems that we were complaining to the porter because the manager was not in. I know that the desk was fully aware that this room was basically uninhabitable for sleeping, but might suffice if rented for an hour at a time. If this is an "upgrade", I hate to think what the regular rooms offer. As platinum Marriott customers, we usually get good treatment, but this was insulting. This hotel might suffice for millennials who like to party and talk trash, but it is not for families, mature people, tired travelers, or probably anybody that I know. Stay away from this badly run and poorly conceived hotel. Even at half the high price, I would never recommend the place to anybody.

I've been a fan of Marriott hotels, but the Aloft NY Brooklyn was by far the worst. To start off, we arrived at 4pm to check-in to two rooms. One of the rooms were not ready until 6pm as the previous customer has a late checkout. The front desk was able to at least check us in for one of the rooms so we were very thankful for that. However, for both Friday and Saturday evening, no one was able to sleep due to construction noises every 10 to 15 minutes (it finally stopped at 6:30am). Also, every room has a connecting door to another room and the walls were very thin! We woke up at 3am each night as our next door neighbor was partying at that time. We heard all their conversations and music throughout the nights. The rooms were tiny, but it was cozy. Location is convenient to public transportation. I would not recommend this hotel if you are looking to get some rest in the evenings.

We stayed at the Aloft Brooklyn for 9 nights in early July and were completely satisfied with our accommodations, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Great location - lots of shopping nearby as well as subway stations within a 2-block radius accessing multiple lines. Clean, well-appointed room (albeit small, but, hey, this is NYC!). Fantastic staff, in particular, Coco & Victoria at the front desk and Darnel at the pool. The pool and hot tub were a Godsend after spending the day walking around New York and the little food pantry in the lobby was very convenient, the breakfasts were great!

The Aloft Brooklyn is an average hotel. What you need to note before you book: 1. The front desk personnel is nice but can't always help you when needed. We had a slight issue getting simple directions to the Brooklyn Bridge, a manager would step in and print directions and try to show us which way to go. 2. We experienced a few slamming doors our first night, in the middle of the night and our TV went down 3 times, during our 4 day stay. 3. On our second day the toilet clogged. I was in the middle of dressing for an event, and had to go to the basement to use the restroom. 4. And please note, this is not really a family friendly hotel. There is a rooftop restaurant / lounge and it gets cranking early evening and keeps going into the morning hours. Plus the lobby stays crowed with those enjoying the bar (guests and non-guests). Overall, it is a standard hotel that provides basic accommodations. Be sure to read all recent reviews to make sure it's the place for you.
