We stayed for two nights in the CanCan room; it would have been great to stay longer. As far as the room goes, it is so cool to sleep in a railroad car, and besides the "wow!" impression we got from the decor, we found the details remarkable. The bed was divine--the best sleep we had out of five places we stayed on our trip. What luxurious purple sheets! But the most fun was in the dining car, where we had wonderful breakfasts and then long chats with Susan and Mike and the other guests. We really enjoyed their company and are in awe of the things they take in stride. We hoped to end our trip on a high note here, and we definitely did. The location is good--the view is gorgeous, and while it's on the ridge and definitely requires a car, it's only about a 10-minute drive into town. One thing you may not get here is wifi. Susan said she had been having problems with her Internet provider (which may be why she has missed some reservation requests--if you don't get a response, call them!). But there's free wifi and computers at the Fairbanks library.

My husband and I stayed here in this July, and we cannot say enough good things about it! Aurora Express was the most unique place we have ever stayed in, and the owners were funny, sweet, and helpful. My husband has a wheat allergy, and Sue went out of her way to get special bread he could eat so he could have the same (delicious) french toast as everyone else. The history and personality of this B&B cannot be overstated. If you have the time, look through the pictures of how they got the trains to the property - or ask the owners. There was also a beautiful view! Everything was simply fantastic! We highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone who like trains, uniqueness, personality, and fun.

For our group of 4 couples this was our first stop of our 16 days of Alaska, we had so much fun checking out each other’s rooms. I would hate to ruin the surprise of walking into your room for the first time, we all laughed so hard, what a way to start our trip. Susan and Mike were fantastic hosts, breakfasts were yummy. Have Mike tell you the story of getting the rail cars up there.

First of all if you live in Fairbanks at lease go spend a night here. Love the uniqueness of the place. The artwork and detail. Great location with a view and convenient to downtown Fairbanks. A secret treasure that a lot of work went into. RR enthusiast will have died and gone to heaven the rest of us will ask why did we think the Chattanooga Holiday Inn Choo Choo was such a big deal. The Choo Choo pales in comparison to the Aurora Express!

We were a group of 12, six couples sharing 5 rooms for 2 nights, first trip to Fairbanks in the beginning of September, and owners Susan and Mike set the perfect FUN tone for our whole trip! We got to peek in at all of the rooms and they are all very different and definitely decorated to the max! Coffee and conversation with Susan starts at 7am in the dining car and breakfast is served right on the dot at 8am. Both mornings the selection was abundant and so delicious and Susan entertained us with her great stories. Our one free day in the Fairbanks area we visited "Tails of the Trail with Mary Shields" - highly recommended, and did the Riverboat Discovery on the Chena river which is full of cruise groups but the weather was beautiful so it was okay. Ended the day with dinner at the Pump House. If you are looking for a fun and unique and local experience in Fairtbanks, I highly recommend the Aurora Express!
