I drove up to Fairbanks from Anchorage with my extended family in August 2019, we stayed in the hotel independent of a cruise package deal. I have previously stayed at the Westmark in Sitka, which is also linked to Holland America cruise lines, but I was stunned at the sheer number of cruise ship passengers staying at this hotel. The hotel is very clean, well-staffed and the rooms are new and in good shape. Beds are very comfortable. The main lobby area is filled with many dozens of elderly cruise ship passengers waiting to take their busses to tourist sites like Denali or to the airport. There are two restaurants in the hotel, but the wait was usually around 60 minutes given the large number of cruise passengers waiting to get in. Instead, there are plenty of other restaurants in walking distance or a short drive away that did not have a long wait. The wi-fi was slow at times, similar to the Westmark Sitka. I suspect this place is a much different experience if you stay there outside of summer tourist season.

The wifi doesn't work at this hotel. They know it. They say they are "working on it" but reviews as much as a month ago say the same thing. So dont come here if you want working wifi. I reported it 24 hours ago. but no change. Otherwise it is below average by US standards. Rooms are dark, poorly lit, and slightly dirty, decrepit. In our room there is blue tape holding on a piece of corner trim. The shade of one of the lamps is broken. See photos. Not recommendable.

This hotel caters ONLY to Holland America. When we first came in to the train station I called for a ride. The gentleman informed me that a Holland America bus would pick us up. After 20 minutes, I called back. I said that I was at the train station not at the airport just in case I had told him the wrong one. He confirmed the train station and said the bus was on its way. Another 20 minutes went by. I called again. This time he asked me if I was with Holland America. I told him no. He told me I had to take a cab or taxi. I asked him if he was going to pay for it since the hotel had free shuttle service. He said no take a cab. I said that would have been nice to know 40 minutes ago...or even when I made the reservation. He was rude. The second reservation made on the back end of the trip was not any better. We got to the front desk at 8 pm and they told us they did not have a room for us. We had to wait 20 minutes for the manager to get back from dinner. They finally found a room, and after hearing what had happened on the front end of the trip gave us 2 coupons for NON alcoholic drinks. Whooppee. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. The waitress told us one price then charged us a higher price and would not fix it. Needless to say, we were really disgusted. We were NOT happy about our stay. We asked about the shuttle to the airport. They said it was ONLY for Holland America guests. I'll never stay here again.

We were assigned to this hotel based on a cruise package. Guessed right when I learned the hotel is actually owned by the cruise lines. The hotel is accommodating and close to what passes for a downtown area (very small) Little to do except for a quick view of the parks. Hotel also has the only real restaurants in that area. Staff is friendly. Unless you have a reason to be in Fairbanks - would not suggest a longer stay

Owned by Holland America and used as lodging for part of our Holland America Alaska land and cruise package. Rooms are clean and very well appointed. Staff is very friendly and hotel restaurant was very good.
