Pike's Waterfront Lodge has garnered appreciation for its cozy, inviting atmosphere and Alaskan charm, with local artwork and comfortable furnishings enhancing the ambiance. Guests have praised the hotel for its cleanliness and the convenience of a shuttle service, while the proximity to the airport and attractions is a noted advantage. However, some travelers have found the prices for amenities steep, and the breakfast choices somewhat monotonous and overpriced. Although rooms are typically regarded as comfortable, instances of outdatedness and cleanliness issues have been flagged by a few visitors.

So thankful the gal at check in was so kind to help us to our room with suitcases since my husband has a disability and the bell boy was busy. Very nice room!
Had a good meal at the restaurant next door too.

We spent the night here coming from Chena Hot Springs to catch our late afternoon flight out the next day. The staff was very friendly, had a nice locked room to store our luggage and gave us a great recommendation for a shuttle service that very cheaply drove us all around Fairbanks.
The hotel provided very prompt shuttle service to the airport as well.
I will definitely stay here again.

It was a good deal here, no tricks or hidden costs like some hotels will do. Sure appreciated the free breakfasts. Most hotels skimp out on breakfasts using the covid excuse. But here, they at least give you something decent to eat; tieing you over for a few hours. Obvious good management here, plus staff acts like they try to please. Easy check in, getting to my room went very smooth. My room in a different building called "Aurora." i must compliment the check-in girl who did a good job explainging how to locate my room and where to park. Room appeared somewhat inviting when opend up the door, nice and clean, no old hotel smell either. Even though i was staying just a few days in a row, housekeeping would still stop by and ask if i wanted the room clean. I appreciated that. Only gripe i had was the parking lot one night got so filled up once, had to drive around awhile until someone pulled out and i could take the newly opened up parking spot. Another interesting note; got the sense the Pikes Landing must of had a somewhat dark history of guests who go mess up the property. Very pissy sounding agreement must be initialed at check-in, about "no drugs/smoking," and also can't miss the red colored warning card placed in room with picture depicting anti-drugs/smoking warning of $350 fine. Got the idea the reason is to ensure the room stays as nice as it is, so they have no choice but to give stern, loud messages at every turn.

I have to say the housekeeping staff was outstanding. But that's where it stops. The rooms are very dated. When I walked in it was like going into a Victorian era.
Now my biggest issue deals with "unsanitary" conditions. Let me explain.
At the front desk there is a large water dispenser set atop a galvanized pan. Next to that are a stack of plastic cups(pic 2). Now to the right of the water jug is a tray of cookies. (pic 1).

As we were leaving for the day, my colleague filled his water bottle from the water jug. At no time did the his water bottle come in contact with any part of the jug. The front desk clerk asked him not to do that as it is unsanitary. I had to laugh! Next to the jug are unpackaged plastic cups, so you run the risk of contaminating the plastic cups as you take one. On the cookie tray there isn't any utensil or napkin to take a cookie. I can't begin to tell you how many people I observed taking a cookie or two with their bare hands. I found it ludicrous that they were more concerned with the water jug that the bigger issue of the plastic cups and cookie contamination issue.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate all comments as it gives us the opportunity to make necessary adjustments to our amenities and procedures. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Due to the COVID-19 situation we have actually already made changes to our cookie/coffee/water station at the front desk. Our cookies are now individually wrapped and behind the front desk for staff to deliver with utensils. Once again thank you for your feedback!

Spotless room. The cleaning staff went beyond the call of duty and cleaved our room on our second day without asking for service , not a hair was found and we stayed with two husky dogs in the pet friendly portion of the hotel. The cleaning staff were also friendly whereas the front desk were not. We arrived and they forgot to inform us about the free ice cream hours and did not give up the marshmallows we were sold as an activity . There were many amenities but there were no brochures or welcoming information in the room to know what was going on. We looked around the next day and missed breakfast because the front desk did not tell us that it was included or the hours but the cleaning personnel did ! I think the cleaning staff need to be promoted they seem to know this is the hospitality business! Other than unfriendly staff up front the hotel is lovely , has great art work , in fact originals by Manchentz our finest Alaskan artist and other artists. The River view is great , the rooms spotless and at a fair price but the hotel needs to get information out to their guests and hire enthusiastic people in the front or have the cleaning staff become greeters . If you need the free stuff offered or pay for a package better ask because the front desk because they don’t volunteer anything about the hotel other than room key . I think they may have a sauna or gym but again the staff wasn’t too nice except the cleaning staff. I do appreciate a clean room though.

The lodge itself is fine, breakfast mediocre, coffee weak, but the accommodations are satisfactory and while Covid rages, the prices are low. The problem is that the establishment does not follow masking protocol . The only folks who wear masks are at the front desk and in the dining area. House-keeping staff was not masked when I was there and there is no mask protocol at all. Meanwhile, Covid in the Fairbanks area is raging with the hospital full and numbers rising still higher. I stayed one night - got in at 12:30 am and realized as soon as I got in the shuttle at the airport that this was a mistake. The van driver - no mask. In the tourism industry it is more important than ever to behave responsibly with this virus. Shame on you, Pike's Lodge. Don't stay there until the owners enforce proper masking protocol and a higher cleaning standard.

Pikes is an excellent Fairbanks hotel. Although it is not located near the heart of Fairbanks, convenient shuttles take you into the city and pick you up. The complimentary breakfast is well-organized for the large group of early rising sportspersons. The room was comfortable and quiet. And I was able to hit the Love Alaska sign on the first try from the golf tee box....

try to get a room with a view of the river. Breakfast was the same every day and due to Covid we elected to bring back to our room as there were too many people running around without distancing and not wearing masks. Staff were careful in handing out breakfast items in a covid safe way and that was appreciated...Breakfast hot item could have been more varied than the yucky turkey sausage muffin they served each of the 3 days we were there. Rest was fine. Adam at the desk was very helpful as was the heavy set caucasian lady with glasses.

To jump straight to it, I have no idea how this hotel receives four or five stars. Hence, I thought it useful to provide this review to give other travelers much more realistic information and set expectations. First, about half of the hotel staff are helpful and friendly. Corey was great on airport shuttle pick up and the front desk. He is polite, friendly, professional. The man that was the bartender was also friendly and pleasant. The other 50% of the hotel staff are not particularly helpful or friendly. Many working the front desk seemed bothered to be asked a question. While the cabin I stayed in was clean, I was told housekeeping staff was too busy to clean it when I asked on day three of a five night stay for it to be cleaned. Instead, I was asked what I needed, which was mainly towels (and I was given them), but having someone collect the trash would have been great too (and not too much to ask for). I have traveled all over the US, Africa, Asia, and Central America, and having your room cleaned once during a five night stay is not a crazy or demanding request. In general, the hotel appears a bit shabby and the carpets could use a good cleaning. Next, people rave about the location, which is odd to me. In the summer, I can understand being on the river, but, no matter the season, you are still a bit far away from town. Don’t get me wrong, downtown Fairbanks isn’t far. But there is still nothing really by this hotel except Pike’s restaurant, which is also past its prime and fair at best. There is absolutely nothing you can walk to to check out the sites. I think the claim to fame to staying at this hotel in the winter is seeing the auroras, but you can also see them from other parts of the city and outside city limits is even better. That being said, I did appreciate the airport shuttle, which was very convenient. If I visit Fairbanks again, I would stay at a hotel more centrally located so you could walk to a variety of restaurants, bars, attractions, shops, etc. I encourage others to check out other hotels before booking here as half of the staff, location, and general appearance and upkeep of this hotel are not fantastic for what you are paying. It was definitely a disappointment.

So I’m not giving a lower rate because the property is amazingly beautiful, clean, have a northern lights observatory (which was closed durding my stay with no further notice or reason) but I can’t complain because there is a Finnish bath and a steam room with aromatherapy, it’s open 24/7 without extra fee.

The only issue is that the hotel is not marijuana friendly and smoking out at the property is not a problem.. the problem is the cold temperatures of -27c / -20F.
My suggestion is to evolve accordingly the regulations of the marijuana, it could be very nice that the hotel think about the safety of the guest and designate a safety place where we don’t bother the non smoking guest.
At the end of the day I wasn’t the only thc user, actually I got blamed for some else that was smoking in the bathroom with no smoke detector and with air extractor that is linked to other staterooms allowing the smell of the smoke get in to other rooms without being detected by the smoke detector. At the end of the day I spoke with the MGR and she kindly removed the $300usd charge after proving that I was going for a hike very often.
So guys, best way you don’t loose costumers is strongly advertise your anti marijuana standards or earn more costumers by evolving with the market and make us part of your standards because your fellow people is producing amazing flowers of marijuana, you guys should be proud of the great medicine they are growing, selling and taxing!!!
Hope one day you decide to open a dispensary for CBD and THC users.

You may be able to see the Northern Lights from Pike’s, and they do offer a wake-up call should someone on the property see them. I was not successful seeing the lights from Pike’s, but had great views from a location about 20 miles outside of Fairbanks, where the city lights are not as much of a problem.
