If Covid-19 sanitation is a concern, then this is not the hotel for you. The rooms are advertised as disinfected, but something as visible as the sink faucet wasn’t even clean, and a dirty cloth and soap lay in the stained shower soap racks. Website says hand sanitizer is provided, but the second floor and reception dispensers were empty. Staff wore a face mask. The second room we were given was smaller with a wall in front of the window, the shower was half size, and yes, the bathroom was just as unclean. The front desk cleaned the room using a paper towel roll and sprayed over the bathroom, one desk surface and the microwave. She didn’t bother with the dirty little coffee maker, but we wouldn’t have used it anyway. There was still soap residue on the soap dish, but by this time, what germs we were exposed to had already taken place so we just crawled into bed for the night. The insulation is poor so we could hear people above and to the side, moving around, door closings and hallway conversations. A complete breakfast was supposed to be offered but there was no breakfast so we had to bundle up and find somewhere to eat. The hotel is fairly modern, but the paintwork on the doors and walls needs cleaning and the elevator is on its last legs. The mattress and pillows are inexpensive but OK for one night.

I just left this review on Google and decided to leave it here also because I really really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I stayed here last week, the middle of September, while visiting Alaska for the first time. I had a great stay. I arrived after midnight and when I called the hotel they sent the shuttle to pick me up from the airport. The lobby area is small and so is the parking lot. Everyone I encountered at the front desk was nice. It seems like there was a different person each time I came and went, but I didn't get the bad attitude that many others complained about. My room was on the top floor which is what I had been hoping for. It was tiny compared to other hotel rooms but the layout was great and it was big enough for me. There was a king sized bed, a flat screened tv mounted on the wall, and an a/c unit in the window which caught me off guard. I was reminded by a friend that I was in Alaska and the weather doesn't get that hot. I love that the bathroom had a walk-in shower. The sink had lots of room for toiletries. I'm not sure if the rooms had been renovated recently or not but I think everything looked great. The comforter on the bed, the furniture, the curtains...everything. My only complaint is there were no face/wash cloths in the bathroom when I first got there. Plenty of towels though. I called the front desk and five minutes later someone was knocking at the door to drop some off. I read other reviews before I booked and many people mentioned breakfast. They didn't serve any food when I was there because of coronavirus so that's understandable. My room was on the side where the BBQ restaurant sits. I didn't hear any of the noise at night that many other reviewers had complained about. I also had a nice view of the river which is right across the street. There are quite a few restaurants nearby within walking distance and doordash is also available. The walls are thin and I could hear the people next door. Whenever I turned the a/c on I wasn't able to hear the tv. I hope the people next door didn't mind when I turned it almost all the way up. As far as cleaning, I'm not sure because no one came by the entire time I was there. I didn't need anything but if I did I think the front desk would have called someone. Overall I had a great stay and the room was much better than I thought it would be. If I ever come back to Fairbanks I'll make sure I book a room here.

Staff was very nice. Room was clean, but small. However, if you're looking for a downtown experience, the ability to walk a block or two for a drink or bite to eat, then and not break the bank, this is the perfect hotel. However, as you can tell by the price, you may end up with a younger weekend crowd that may be a bit loud, as we did. Aside from that, it is clean and has everything you need to set up a basecamp for exploring downtown.

My son and I took a trip to view the Aurora borealis and chose this hotel because of it's downtown location and proximity to the river. It has a 24 hour shuttle service from/to the airport, an onsite "convenience" store, and very friendly staff. We got a room on the 5th floor and though small, it suited our needs. I've never seen a hotel room with a queen and twin bed, but it worked just fine. The beds and pillows were comfy enough, the bath towels were clean, but small. I liked that there were two trash cans, a microwave and a mini fridge. The coffee maker wasn't very clean and the coffee was terrible. The condiment package only had one creamer, which definitely isn't enough to make the coffee drinkable. We didn't have the breakfast, so I can't attest to the coffee served there. Another bonus was that you could crack the windows, the room was boiling when we checked in and discovered that in our quest to cool it down. Yes, there is a thermostat to control the climate, but it was set to 76! I chose not to rent a car due to the shuttle service and we were able to walk everywhere! Everything is close by, except grocery stores, but the busses can take you there. There's a bar that sits on the border of their parking lot and that provided a small bit of noise on the weekend, but it was entertaining to watch the people at closing time from my room. There is virtually nothing to watch on tv, basic cable but no HBO or premium channels and it wasn't a smart tv to be able to stream. That was only frustrating on the one day we took to relax. The convenience store was terribly overpriced, $2 for a single bottle of water. All in all, I would return, as it was exactly what I needed at exactly the right price.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Bridgewater Hotel. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. We apologize that the coffee maker had not been maintained. I will share your comments with our Housekeeping staff to ensure this does not happen again. Both our in room coffee and breakfast coffee are locally sourced from North Pole and while our guests usually enjoy the local brew, it obviously did not suit your palate. We apologize for not having an alternate option. Thank you for your comments regarding the restaurant next door. We have not heard this comment made regarding noise on the weekend and it is good for us to be aware. All of our televisions are Smart TVs, so we apologize if you were unable to connect to the TVs or if we were unable to provide assistance in getting you and your son connected. Even with the inconveniences you faced during your stay with us, it appears you had a good time nonetheless. We are happy to be your hotel of choice the next time your visit Fairbanks.

Thank you for your review of the Bridgewater Hotel! We were happy to host you during your Alaskan winter adventure. We hope that you and your family were able to do all the winter activities you had planned during your time in Alaska. Not many guests get to see moose downtown, but your sharp eye made that possible for you and several of our other guests. Now that you have visited Alaska in the wintertime, we would suggest coming in the summer to see how much our beautiful state changes between the two seasons. We hope to see you again soon!
