The Bridgewater Hotel, part of the Trademark Collection by Wyndham, sits in a prime spot in downtown Fairbanks, with guests often commending its central location. While the staff's service receives mixed feedback, the hotel's cleanliness and well-maintained rooms are widely acknowledged. Despite the rooms' coziness and cleanliness, some guests find them lacking in size and warmth.
The hotel's value proposition is debated, as is the range of amenities, with an absence of dining options on-site. Reviewers also note room temperature control as an occasional issue.

Detailed Reviews
My son and I took a trip to view the Aurora borealis and chose this hotel because of it's downtown location and proximity to the river. It has a 24 hour shuttle service from/to the airport, an onsite "convenience" store, and very friendly staff. We got a room on the 5th floor and though small, it suited our needs. I've never seen a hotel room with a queen and twin bed, but it worked just fine. The beds and pillows were comfy enough, the bath towels were clean, but small. I liked that there were two trash cans, a microwave and a mini fridge. The coffee maker wasn't very clean and the coffee was terrible. The condiment package only had one creamer, which definitely isn't enough to make the coffee drinkable. We didn't have the breakfast, so I can't attest to the coffee served there. Another bonus was that you could crack the windows, the room was boiling when we checked in and discovered that in our quest to cool it down. Yes, there is a thermostat to control the climate, but it was set to 76! I chose not to rent a car due to the shuttle service and we were able to walk everywhere! Everything is close by, except grocery stores, but the busses can take you there. There's a bar that sits on the border of their parking lot and that provided a small bit of noise on the weekend, but it was entertaining to watch the people at closing time from my room. There is virtually nothing to watch on tv, basic cable but no HBO or premium channels and it wasn't a smart tv to be able to stream. That was only frustrating on the one day we took to relax. The convenience store was terribly overpriced, $2 for a single bottle of water. All in all, I would return, as it was exactly what I needed at exactly the right price.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Bridgewater Hotel. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. We apologize that the coffee maker had not been maintained. I will share your comments with our Housekeeping staff to ensure this does not happen again. Both our in room coffee and breakfast coffee are locally sourced from North Pole and while our guests usually enjoy the local brew, it obviously did not suit your palate. We apologize for not having an alternate option. Thank you for your comments regarding the restaurant next door. We have not heard this comment made regarding noise on the weekend and it is good for us to be aware. All of our televisions are Smart TVs, so we apologize if you were unable to connect to the TVs or if we were unable to provide assistance in getting you and your son connected. Even with the inconveniences you faced during your stay with us, it appears you had a good time nonetheless. We are happy to be your hotel of choice the next time your visit Fairbanks.

We stayed at the Bridgewater Hotel for one night before taking the train from Fairbanks to Denali. For this purpose, I'd give it five stars, and reduced it by one star, only because of the basic nature of the rooms. But the rooms are perfectly fine, and having a double bed and single bed was a layout that worked for us. The rooms were clean, relatively recently renovated, and functional. There was a minifridge and small microwave, bathroom with shower only, which was clean. The location is good, with walking access to a walk along the river or to the small downtown area.
The hotel is walking distance to several restaurants, but on a Sunday and probably due to staffing issues with COVID, there was only one restaurant open within walking distance, which had a 3 hour wait time. We were glad we had brought instant cup of noodles, and the Springhill Suites down the road had a few microwaveable frozen meals that could be purchased.
We may have been fortunate, but the shuttle driver was at the airport when we came out from baggage to take us and others to the hotel. And he was on time to take two shuttle runs to get a group of passengers to the train station in the morning in plenty of time for train ride check in. With Uber and Lyft drivers in short supply, this was the most important function for our trip, and the hotel was able to provide what we needed.

My spouse and I were vacationing in Alaska in July 2021 and spent two nights (a Thursday night and a Friday night) at this hotel.
We were able to check in shortly after the official check-in time on the Thursday afternoon that we first arrived in Fairbanks. The check-in process went okay. Our room (#104) was clean and comfortable but it was quite small. We had hoped to have a room on a higher floor (I may have requested a high floor when I first booked the room), but no rooms on a higher floor were available when we checked in. We did not have a view at all outside our window which was kind of a bummer. (it appeared partially underground or obscured by some kind of a concrete wall... with a picture of a winter scene in the window's place.)
We didn't spend much time at the hotel which was fine, because the hotel was pretty basic. I don't think they were offering any kind of breakfast besides coffee, so I can't speak to the breakfast situation. There's a business center computer in the lobby, but I didn't try using it so I wasn't sure whether it was working or not.
Altogether, this is a pretty simple hotel. The location, being in downtown Fairbanks, was great! I just can't give it a rating higher than 3 stars (average) because there was nothing special about it at all. It had a modern look which was nice, but as I mentioned, the room was too small. We felt cramped. We had no major complaints, though.

If Covid-19 sanitation is a concern, then this is not the hotel for you.
The rooms are advertised as disinfected, but something as visible as the sink faucet wasn’t even clean, and a dirty cloth and soap lay in the stained shower soap racks. Website says hand sanitizer is provided, but the second floor and reception dispensers were empty. Staff wore a face mask.
The second room we were given was smaller with a wall in front of the window, the shower was half size, and yes, the bathroom was just as unclean. The front desk cleaned the room using a paper towel roll and sprayed over the bathroom, one desk surface and the microwave. She didn’t bother with the dirty little coffee maker, but we wouldn’t have used it anyway. There was still soap residue on the soap dish, but by this time, what germs we were exposed to had already taken place so we just crawled into bed for the night.
The insulation is poor so we could hear people above and to the side, moving around, door closings and hallway conversations.
A complete breakfast was supposed to be offered but there was no breakfast so we had to bundle up and find somewhere to eat.
The hotel is fairly modern, but the paintwork on the doors and walls needs cleaning and the elevator is on its last legs. The mattress and pillows are inexpensive but OK for one night.

When checking in we were not initially greeted. Stood at the desk and big guy with arm tattoos took a second and then set down his cell phone on the counter. He checked us in, but didn’t ask if we needed more than one room key, actually he didn’t even interact with us. It was like he was annoyed we were there and I think his phone was still playing a video and he was watching it. He gave us no information. First time in my life I was just handed a room key without hearing “room down the hall, or Wi-Fi password located on the card” or anything. Very unwelcoming.
It would have been good info at check in that the doors are locked at a certain time. We went out and returned after midnight in the cold, hands full of luggage and I have to dig my key out of my pocket to get into the building.
While checking out the next day the girl at the counter just gave us a blank stare while handing her my key and I said “checking out.” I simply asked her if I needed to sign anything or are we just good handing in the key and she eventually muttered “no.”

Although the first 3 days of my stay I had no hot water, the staff was kind and did what they could to fix the issue, they compensated me for the inconvenience and were very apologetic about it. The room was clean and didn’t have the typical Alaskan musty/moldy smell that some places have. And the location is lovely and convenient, even though it is downtown where you can see plenty of people that may be intoxicated or homeless, we still felt safe and secure at this location. I would definitely stay again and recommend to my family and friends looking for an affordable place to stay in town.

The hotel and room were clean well temperature controlled; a fair room for a fair price It was February so most restaurants around the hotel were closed except for Salty's next door which was ok, but they were closed on Monday/Tuesday, so you'll need a vehicle (parking with heater plugs available in the hotel lot) to find food or DoorDash/Uber Eats. The front desk personnel were totally void of customer service; no initiative, problem solving, or courtesy. It's a skill they need

We had a 6-night stay at the Bridgewater as a part of an Alaska Railroad Package. Transfer from the airport was included. Once we called, it was a minimum wait time. During our stay, we rented a car for a day and the hotel provided transfer to and back from the airport with no problem. We departed by train and transfer to the station was provided.
We had a room with 2 beds - a single and a queen. Lodged in the side panel window was a room air conditioner which wasn't airtight so there was quite a cold draft. We were able to block most of it by stuffing a towel around the edges.
Located just off the edge of downtown, it was most convenient to various restaurants, etc.

The hotel is past its prime and overdue for some upgrades. After four nights I found space at a different hotel and moved for the rest of my time in Fairbanks. The rooms have window shaker air conditioning units, but none of the hallways, lobby or other common areas do. The temperatures were in the high 70's to low 90's, and the common areas ranged from uncomfortable to unbearably hot.
Lots of dings, scratches and stains on the walls, a top to bottom drywall repair/ paint job would be a great idea. All the carpeting in the hallways and rooms should be replaced, it's very worn and has more than an acceptable number of stains throughout. The window mechanism in my room was broken and open, the only way I could get the window closed to seal in my air conditioning was to poke a knife in the window frame and use it as a handle to pull the window closed so I could engage the lock.
On a good note, the beds appeared to be fairly new, no stains or evidence of bedbugs, etc. Bathroom was adequately clean but as previously mentioned the carpet was disgusting. I was not comfortable taking my shoes off. The coffee was good on one day, but another day it tasted like it was the stuff still sitting in the pot from the day before. I feel a lot of the hotels shortcomings could've been counteracted by also offering a complimentary breakfast, but they do not.
Parking is terrible, I would estimate they have parking spaces for only about a quarter of the rooms. A couple nights I went to dinner around 8 PM and by the time I got back I could not find a place to park, I ended up having to park down the street and walk to the hotel. I don't mind the walk, but I feel my government issued vehicle was more at risk on the street then it would've been in the hotel parking lot. On Tuesday there was an article in the news about a guest having their vehicle broken into.
The staff was helpful and friendly, but if you are traveling to Fairbanks I would not suggest this for your first choice. I chose it because it was the only government rate room I could find for the first part of my visit to Fairbanks.

Dear JOSEPH1911, Please accept my sincerest apologies regarding your recent stay with us here at the Bridgewater Hotel, Trademark Collection by Wyndham. The hotel underwent an extensive remodel just a few years ago. I will look into all of the concerns you addressed, windows, carpet and walls. I will then speak with maintenance. I do apologize about the breakfast and parking as well. We do not offer continental breakfast at this time, however we do have breakfast items in our market and many great locally owned restaurants within walking distance. Unfortunately our main parking lot is limited, we do have an overflow parking lot two blocks away to accommodate our guests. Again, thank you for your feedback as it helps us better serve our guests. I do hope you will give us another chance in the future to meet your lodging needs.

Staff was very nice. Room was clean, but small. However, if you're looking for a downtown experience, the ability to walk a block or two for a drink or bite to eat, then and not break the bank, this is the perfect hotel. However, as you can tell by the price, you may end up with a younger weekend crowd that may be a bit loud, as we did. Aside from that, it is clean and has everything you need to set up a basecamp for exploring downtown.
