This review is 5 stars only because we had Margo. Margo is an employee, she doesn’t own this B&B and she may or may not be there when you book it, so I would say this is a review qualifier. Margo was amazing, cooked the best breakfasts, provided all the information we needed, offered to drive us around, she does above and beyond her job at this hotel. She even went to the store to buy us specific dishes for breakfast. Never had that before in any B&B.
This is a historic house, almost like a museum, where every room is decorated with antiques and where you can learn a lot about the history of Fairbanks and Alaska just from going from room to room. It is really fascinating. The decor is not modern, the bathrooms are old, but that’s the whole point. There is no TV anywhere in the house, but then again, there wasn’t a TV back in 1916 when this house was built. I would also say that the heating system is amazing.
The kitchen is part of the public space here, which is unusual for a B&B, and that’s because no one lives here. It’s fully stocked with snacks and drinks and everything you need. We got special treats for our stay in our room as well, which had a fully functioning kitchen for our own private stay.
The piano hasn’t been tuned since the Raegan administration, but did I say the house is full of antiques?
Location is perfect, 2 minutes walking distance from downtown Fairbanks. Parking is not an issue unless the place is packed in the summer, but we’re there in September.
The main issue of concern for you if you plan to book this house is who owns it and who works there. You should check out if it’s the same as it was back in the summer of 2023. If it is - it’s a great deal.
However, there is a major shortage of skilled labor in Fairbanks and so for example the rooms are not cleaned everyday, and if it gets any worse - not sure you’ll get freshly cooked breakfast either. (Margo is a friend of the owner, and not sure she’ll keep doing this next summer).
To summarize, this is a little overpriced, but it’s worth the money if the level of service is what it should be. We loved spending time in this house, we loved checking all the rooms (most were vacant since this was September) and we loved the food Margo cooked for us. We would stay there again if she was there when we came.

Amazing stay…the history, the proximity to town (walkable), the comfort, the hospitality…all top notch! Jill and Margo made us amazing breakfasts every day and made our stay perfect! We had the Williams and Maid’s rooms and were a bit worried about being cold (it was -27 outside!) or loud (right next to dining room, but neither was the case. We shared a bathroom between our rooms (separate door for each side) which had lovely fluffy towels and other amenities. The house is a literal museum of Fairbanks…so many original furniture and other pieces in the house as well as books and scrapbooks about the house and its owners. Jill fixed us salmon and eggs, French toast with fresh blueberry compote, bacon, sausage, quiche, etc for breakfast and baked fresh cookies and muffins too! Margo made amazing veggies and eggs both mornings she was there as well as a banana nut bread. There were snacks and drinks and other food available throughout the house too. We walked easily downtown to several restaurants, sights & stores and our hostesses gave us many excellent recommendations. The house was spotless clean and so convenient as our “home base”. We even ordered Door Dash from a local restaurant one night and ate in the dining room. Best stay ever. I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else in Fairbanks! Maybe one day we can return when we can see grass and flowers!! :-)

Set in an old house, it has been furnished to an early 1900s vibe. In fact, there is so much stuff that it’s difficult to find places to put your stuff or walk. OK breakfast. The owner is fun and very accommodating, but she seems overwhelmed. Good plumbing and WiFi. Electricity needs some help. A good choice if you like B&B’s

We made reservation December 2020 forJune 2021 and need to cancel, emailed and called but no response. We paid in full and their policy is cancel within 2 days and get full refund. Just wish they would respond. We are going to try credit card to see if they can put pressure on them?

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Alaska Heritage House! The innkeeper, Telsi made our visit so lovely. Each morning we were treated to a delicious breakfast freshly prepared at the time of our seating. We stayed in the Garden Room and it was perfect with its own bathroom and entrance. We highly recommend this B&B in Fairbanks!

This is a bed and breakfast and it has a few parking spaces. There is also street parking. It is a nice, homey atmosphere, but it was not a good match for my needs. I arrived after midnight and had to use the front door keypad to enter. This worked just fine and I had no difficulty finding my room. Breakfast is supposed to be served from 7:30 to 9:30 in the morning. On the one morning I could have eaten breakfast, I emerged from my room at 7:20 a.m. and there was absolutely no one in the kitchen area so I skipped their breakfast and ate elsewhere. That night, I again arrived after hours and used the keypad to enter. The next morning I had an early flight and had to leave several hours before breakfast. I did sleep well my two nights. During my two night stay, I did not see another person in the place. As a matter of fact, I did not even hear anyone else in the place. I am sure this would be a wonderful place to stay for the right person, just not for me.

I have been trying to contact Alaska Heritage House to cancel an upcoming reservation, they do not pick up the phone nor respond to messages or emails. I will continue to try. There are several places on the internet, including Zillow, that list this house as a pending sale. I hope I get my deposit back. I just wish they would respond to my efforts.

We got to accompany some friends and had such a wonderful time! It’s like stepping back in time to the victorian era. All the details of the decor were so on point and it was interesting to just walk around the house and look at. The beds were comfy and everything was very clean! So close to downtown too. Who knew this hidden gem was here in Fairbanks!!

I stayed at the AHH. It was amazing. Jill , the owner, was the best. The house was so comfortable and inviting. I met people from all over the world. The breakfast was perfect to include the coffee. If you are traveling to Fairbanks, AK, it is well worth it. It is a short walk from several local restaurants.

Because of flight shenanigans, we did not arrive until close to midnight. We had no trouble getting into the house through a keypad and into our room. We stayed in the Garden Suite. The place's decor and ambiance were absolutely lovely. It felt very good to be there after a long day of travel. I instantly felt at home and loved the room's comfort. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. We sadly only had one day in Fairbanks and we checked out after breakfast. I wish we had more time to enjoy the property and the bnb's feel. We would definitely come again. It is a special find.

And please contact us again through TripAdvisor or through our Web site or by calling or texting us directly at 907 388-9595. Best Regards; Staff at the Alaska Heritage House Bed&Breakfast.
