We stayed for one night & found this hotel to be charming & cozy. We literally did not leave our room during our stay. We had room service for dinner & breakfast & it was deliciously filling! The staff were professional & nice! Our room was clean & cozy. I would definitely recommend this place over any corporate chain hotel any day.

When we drove up to the Heathman Lodge we had difficulty locating the registration entrance. They had blocked off that part of the driveway and set up tables outside to accommodate their restaurant. We assumed it was the restaurant entrance. We ended up calling the front desk to find the proper entrance. The staff at check-in were very nice. They assisted us with our luggage. My husband is a paraplegic and we always have to bring a lot of things with us. We went up to our room, opened the door, and were surprised to see that the room wasn’t cleaned. Music was on, beds weren’t made and trash in the room. The clerk went downstairs to try to find us a different room while we waited in the hall. It wasn’t a great first impression especially during COVID. They had also pushed a lot of furniture (couches, tables) together right outside the elevator. There were a couple of people there talking. Safety precautions weren’t well thought out. The room we received was comfortable. It had a microwave and min-fridge. The bathroom was ok. The toilet is too close to the sink to make for an easy wheelchair transfer. The beds were comfortable. It was close to a mall that had some items we needed so that was a plus. The best part of the stay was the staff. They were very helpful.

Was here just for a night. Would usually get a more basic place for the evening, but they had a great deal so decided to stay here and the location was great as well. Very clean, lots of COVID precautions in place and nice employees. Had dinner at the on site restaurant as well and ate outside. Pleasant stay and would stay again.

Just stayed for two days and had an awful experience. Fist we had to move rooms because initial room (booked a suite) didn’t have a tub as requested. Second room stunk of cigarettes but was too tired to change again. Went to take evening bath and found at least 10 hairs floating in the water before I got in, and around the bath on the floor as well. :( In the night settled in to their very squeaky bed- only to be woken by noises and went to the restroom. Little did I know the toilet seat wasn’t bolted on tight and it slide to the side and I almost found myself in their (debatably clean) toilet! Hardly slept after that.. around 6:30 in the morning went to make coffee and found a used keurig container inside coffee machine in my room. Realized things aren't clean here- worrisome during COVID-19. Lastly before leaving Around 9:15am I received a knock for room service and answered yes I would appreciate cleaning. Came back around 12:30 room service was gone and spoke to an unapologetic young front desk man who said they would offer towels.. complimentary..? I am without words. Would not come back here. Will not recommend to friends.. sad because I have come here many years for dinner with family but never stayed the night. After this experience we will go elsewhere.

Good afternoon Worldtravelkat, Thanks so much for taking the time to tell us about your recent experience. We appreciate your feedback and we are always looking for opportunities to create a better "home away from home" for our guests. We are sorry to hear that your visit was less than stellar. A clean, quiet, and well appointed room to stay in is a basic tenet of expectation that our guests should have to expect an enjoyable stay here at the Lodge. When there are issues with this most basic tenet of expectation, it is difficult to ensure that our guests will enjoy their visit. This sounds like the first room was mismarked on our boards as a room ready to go but clearly was not, we take feedback very seriously here. We have already followed up with our housekeeping team to ensure that these kinds of issues do not continue. Unfortunately, due to the Covid 19 crisis, we do not have our full normal housekeeping team working at the moment and we have some team members who are learning new roles in the hotel. We are working to ensure that there are no lapses in enjoyment for our guests and we take your feedback very seriously. We would love the opportunity to offer you a complimentary upgrade to a suite at a manager's discounted rate if you were interested in returning to give us another opportunity. If you are interested in taking advantage of this offer, please reach out to me directly when and if you are ready to return and I will make sure we get you taken care of. Thanks again for your time and patronage. Have a GREAT day! Best regards, Bailey Straub Front Office Manager 360.816.6142 Bailey.Straub@heathmanlodge.com

First, it's not a "lodge". It's a hotel situated directly behind a strip mall. This is as opposite of their sister property in Portland as one can get. * Check in: The front desk of what is supposedly a Northwest-themed hotel with many Native American references simultaneously a huge lithograph of JOHN WAYNE WITH HIS GUN OUT behind the front desk. Anyone with half a clue knows that John Wayne was insanely racist and homophobic, supporting white supremacy in so many ways, including saying that Native Americans were "selfishly trying to keep it (their land) for themselves" and "I believe in white supremacy", as well as making slurs about gays and a career of work well known for perpetrating false and hateful stereotypes about people of color. When I brought this up at both check-in and check-out, I was met with indifference at check-in and a fake chipper "oh sorry!" from the young woman at checkout" * SERVICE: Front desk tells you absolutely nothing beyond when the restaurant closes - not when checkout is, where to park, not where your room is, nor asking if we needed anything for our pet (one of the reasons we stayed there was because they accept pets for not extra fee). Literally found myself asking the basics that every front desk person should be automatically telling to customers. * ROOM - Absolutely TINY "king" room with not even a table to sit at in this age of room service and takeout. DID NOT MATCH WHAT WAS ADVERTISED ON ORBITZ OR ON THEIR WEBSITE UNDER 'KING BED GUESTROOM'. There was just ONE normal size pillow and three half-pillows - WTF, do both sleeping in the bed not deserve a regular pillow? Incredibly uncomfortable. There was standing water all over the bathroom floor due to a leaky toilet that we had to cover up with towels. Front desk's response? Again, apathetic. There was also zero information in the room about when checkout was, what the TV channels were (the remote didn't have a "menu" to figure it out), room service menus, wifi password, etc. - usually there's some type of binder in hotel rooms with this info, how is this so hard to offer? Husband called down to the front desk and they said they'd bring something up and the guy who came just handed him a piece of paper with the TV channels, nothing else. Orbitz said they allowed dogs and didn't charge extra, so we had assumed they'd at least offer the basics like a water bowl but, again, nothing whatsoever to accommodate our pup (even though their website's pet policy says "Water and food dishes have been placed in your room for your convenience." and that there are "specially designed custom pet beds) and no nearby bins on the property to throw poop bags after cleaning up after her. The A/C was loud, the wall-length mirror in the bathroom was creepy (as my husband said, who wants to look at your junk when you pee?!) * RESTAURANT: We were excited they had created a way to have a nice outdoor meal, but were so disappointed in the results. Spent over $150 on one of the most lackluster dinners imaginable. While the waitress was very nice, she didn't understand the basics of the food, the overpriced 'crab cocktail" was in the world's smallest bowl with maybe three bites of crab doused in cocktail sauce, the calamari was gross and disgustingly oversalted, the 'homemade' dressing on the wedge salad was more like milky water, the bacon was dry and crusty, and the dessert was sludge. Could not believe we were paying this much for something this poor. * SUSTAINABILITY: Ha, what a joke. No recycling bin in the room, tiny prepackaged soaps and shampoos instead of refillable containers. Of course, the hotel's website link to 'sustainability' links to their accommodations page, not an actual sustainability page, so I guess it's not surprising. This was an INCREDIBLY disappointing hotel stay. We rarely leave reviews on Trip Advisor but for this it was so offensive with the racist art at the front desk mixed with the terribly service and advertising misrepresentation of the room, that we felt it necessary to share and to tell people to stay far, far away from the Heathman Lodge.
