Enjoyed our stay here. Very nice staff at front desk, housekeeping, and breakfast staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Very clean hotel and rooms. We noticed that the hotel was also pet friendly, lots of dogs which was not a problem. Nice pool, gym, and basketball/tennis court. Very quiet hotel. We heard a dog bark only when he heard us walking by. I think he was alone in the room, but no problem. Breakfast was good but buffet area is a small and can get crowded. If you arrive late into the night about 12, you may not have any parking. We had to park next door at the Hilton. We didn’t ask the front desk about alternate parking. This will be our hotel again next time.

The customer service ladies ( two African american women) who assisted me with check in and check out on June 1st, 2019 - June 2nd , 2019 were very rude and unhelpful. I wrote the following review to Marriott customer Service : To whom it may concern : I stayed with your Residence Inn location from Saturday - Sunday June 1st - June 2nd 2019. I prepay-ed the full amount for my hotel stay. Upon checking inn, I specifically asked the representative would be charged any type of fees SPECIFICALLY for the purposes of payment. She informed me that my card would not be charged any additional fees or holds. Around 1 am that morning , I received an alert from my bank letting me know The hotel had charged me $10. $10 may not seem like a lot of money however, this charged has cause me a great amount of issues. I used a certain type of card when going out of town just as a precaution for issues like this. In order for me to use my card, I have to transfer money to the account when needed to use. At the time there was less than $10 on the card. Once Marriott charged me , I was subjected overdraft protection . This is sort of like a prepaid account that is only used for specific purposes. Therefore, had I know I would have been subjected to any fees I would NOT have provided this card as it is only used for when I am traveling out of town. The bank does not have weekend customer service so I was only able to submit a claim via email. Upon checking out , I questioned your rep about the random charged she stated and I quote , " Oh its a damage fee and its usually more than that everyone gets it, you'll get it back in 3 or 4 business days " This response was very unprofessional and uncaring of my situation. I even attempted to explain to her that I am from out of town with no way to contact my bank to . With a negative balance an overdraft fee. At this point I am trying everything I can. What would have been an easy transfer of funds from one account to another now turned into me having to western union myself some money using my other bank account to try and enjoy the rest of my vacation in Savannah and get home. Firstly, I was not provided any documentation about a damage fee , had I known that were the case I would have made sure enough funds were available to cover the charge whether temporary or not. Secondly, a $10 damage fee is very suspicious and doesn't make any since. After speaking with your customer service , I have been told that I will have to wait 7-10 business days for someone to either refund my stay or part of my stay for this inconvenience. By the way I have yet to receive the $10 back so until I get some sort of relief from Marriott there is nothing my bank will do. I hope that in future other Marriott members do not receive this type of issue with Marriott, I doubt that I will be choosing Marriott again. As of, 6/18/2019. No refund no help. Based upon this I will not stay with them again . I cannot stay with a hotel that I cannot trust with the security of my cards.

BED BUGS!! in Room 105 --- I stayed at this Residence Inn Savannah Midtown from Tues thru Fri (May 20 to 24, 2019). After checking into room 105 and unpacked, I found a cockroach on the wall in the living room. I requested for a pest treatment which took place the next morning. I believe they only treated the living room, where I can smell the scent of the treatment. On May 21, I woke up with 2 bite marks on my back. On the night of May 22 (3rd night), one of my dogs jumped out of bed at 3 a.m. I turned the light on and found a small bug on the pillow, and I thought it was a small cockroach (as it turned out – it’s a bed bug!). Within minutes, I saw a little tiny bug crawling on the comforter on me, and I grabbed a napkin to catch it, and I heard a pop and there was a lot of blood considering the bug was so tiny - the blood got onto the comforter and the napkin (another bed bug). The amount of blood reminded me when I popped a pimple when I was younger. I took pictures of both bugs, just in case. I returned home on Saturday, May 26, and Wednesday morning, May 29, I woke up with bites on the back of my neck. I thought I got the bites from mowing the lawn. Then the next 2 days, I woke up with cluster of bites on both side of my neck/back shoulder area, my left arm near the shoulder and above the elbow, a few bites on my left hip, and other areas which are not as severe. I took pictures of the bugs and posted them on Google, but it appears these pictures are not showing up on this Residence Inn website. "It can take time for your body to develop a reaction to the bites. Some people develop itchy welts within a few days of the first bites, but it can take as long as 14 days before the bites itch. People tend to become increasingly sensitive to bedbug bites. - American Academy of Dermatology" Terminix came out this morning 6/5, and confirmed that the bugs I found on the pillow and comforter at the hotel are bed bugs. They inspected my home and confirmed I have bed bugs. I have pictures of the 3 bugs. I stayed at many residence Inn and I will never stay at this one again. The bed bug treatment costs $1,261.00 plus cost of new mattress pads, sheets, washing and drying everything in hot water, medication, and time and stress. Terminix said to use to hair dryer to blow air in the back of the headboard to about 3 minutes. The air will get the bugs moving, and look for bed bugs. Get familiar with what bed bugs look like. I love that Residence Inn is dog friendly. There is little grassy area for my dogs to go to the bathroom outside, and for some reasons, my dogs don't like the Georgia grass and the material they use the bedding on the ground. Fortunately, they still went to the bathroom in the grass. The lady at the front desk, LaWanda, who I also talked to before my arrival is very nice, friendly, easy to talk to, and professional. She was so helpful and she made me feeling so welcome. She gave me a complimentary bottle of water and some Hershey's Kisses Chocolate for being a Marriott Elite. That was a nice touch. If you are a light sleeper, you might get woken up by the noise from passing cars, and sometimes an ambulance would go by because the hospital is nearby. Fortunately, the noise didn't bother me. This location has limited parking. The parking spaces are only on 2 of the 4 sides of the hotel, unlike most Residence Inn that I stayed at. Every night, there were about 4 cars that didn't have a parking space to park in, and had to illegally park.

It’s a 10 minute drive to downtown. Parking lot can get full on busy days. Rooms were roomy with kitchens. The eating area is small. Breakfasts are complimentary and filling. The complimentary mixer offered burgers, veggies and free beer, wine, soda, water. We loved our two bedroom upgrade as Marriott elite members. Front desk staff were helpful.

Wish I had read other reviews before booking this hotel. We are staying in room 309 which backs on to a very busy street. We thought all the windows were open when we first entered the room - they were not. Cheap single pane windows do not block out any street noise. I’m writing this at 10:45 on a Friday night and hearing every car and truck (and occasional siren) with crystal clarity - sometimes so loud it drowns out the tv. If you do stay at this hotel I would make sure not to stay on the side that backs onto the street (as I now see others have recommended). I have not exaggerated anything about the noise. They should not be renting these rooms out until they invest in some better soundproofing or at least warn guests and provide a huge discount. Really hard to review the rest of the hotel since the noise is such a big issue. The rest of the hotel is okay. Rooms look recently renovated but some corners cut (for example,1980s vintage shower fixtures not replaced). Location is okay if you can’t find anything suitable in the downtown. I personally would not stay here again.
